I’m still not 100% sure I’m not imagining it, but the white point does seem to have been improved in beta 4 and maybe even a bit more in beta 5. The white point seems to be a closer match for white objects in the room than when I first got the phone. The screen is still warmer than on my iPad Pro, so it’s possible I’ve just gotten used to the screen calibration on the X. But I’m not finding myself noticing that the screen has a yellow tinge in all lighting like I was a few weeks ago. I’d say Apple is doing some tinkering behind the scenes, even though I don’t have any proof beyond my own observations.

I've got no 'scientific' proof, but I have had this impression as well. For me, it's been a noticeable change for the better. I've really noticed the change in color management when I've stepped outside in dawn/dusk hours (times without direct sunlight) and noticed a much bluer profile in that lighting. When at home using my phone with lamp lighting, the colors seems to pop a lot more, esp. reds and blues, and the overall all look doesn't look too warm like it previously did when I first got the X under the same lighting conditions.

Also possibly related.... I notice that occasionally there is a "WiFi" indication next to my carrier name (ATT). I am assuming this is an indication that WiFi calling is active? But it is mostly not there even though I am still in a very strong WiFi location and WiFi calling is enabled. Just wondering if these phone app issues are related to switching into and out of WiFi calling. That said, I did try disabling WiFi calling and the phone app was still freezing so maybe not.

Paul

From what I understand, WiFi calling works based on the strength of your cellular signal vs. the strength of your WiFi signal. If you are in an area with a weak cellular signal, your phone will opt for WiFi calling. Based on your above explanation I would assume you have a fairly good cellular signal in the location you're discussing. If you prefer WiFi calling I believe you can switch on airplane mode to force it (don't quote me here as I'm not 100% sure).

Still having tons of app freezes
What apps specifically? I am having a very good experience on my 7 with no app freezes. I did have the missing VM bug but hasn’t come back after the fix.

I have a good feeling about 11.3 being faster and more stable than 10.3.3.

That kind of makes sense. I have a very strong Wi-Fi signal and a very strong cellular signal so perhaps it mostly prefers cellular. I’ll try turning off cellular and see if that makes it remain on Wi-Fi.

Maybe your Apps are older ones? No freezes at all here.
Nope new ones updated... one app will randomy start freezing then all apps starts freezing for a few mins until it suddenly starts working again. Closing apps/restarting the phone doesnt work just have to wait it out till it works again.

Just found a weird bug, or what I assume is a bug anyway. In the morning, I always have issues unlocking my phone with TouchID. Even after I’ve entered my passcode to activate it like it says to. Well just a bit ago, my phone accidentally came unplugged during one of my attempts and it worked just fine! Plugged it back in, wouldn’t read my fingerprint right. Unplugged to test and it unlocked instantly. Very very weird if not intentional for some reason...

All apps will start freezing once one app suddenly does. I had the same problem on ios 11.1.2 too

Yes, see screenshot.
Perfect! I did a quick Google on it and apparently both AT&T and Verizon customers were complaining at the beginning of the year because this feature had stopped working. Everything I read was from January so they must have resolved the issue.

Delayed notifications seems to be fixed. Also previously on beta 4 if you set notification previews to "When unlocked" and got a notification that was multi line, the text would run over the bubble on the bottom. This is also fixed.

Maybe my cord that I’ve been using is the solution to some of my problems. It’s a 3rd party 10ft cable that I bought at Wal-Mart. Sometimes when I have my phone charging and not even touching it I hear it making the noise like it came unplugged and got plugged back in. I’m gonna try the cord that came with it and see if that affects TouchID too or not. But I do think something is definitely up with the cord I’ve been using, unfortunately.

How do you know what gets fixed relative the amount of feedback? edit: you don't. Only some hyperbole.
Becausee I have reported feedback multiple times on issues in the OS which weren't fixed because they weren't immediately obvious and there weren't news articles written on them or tons of complaints. The home button delay is just one of the many feedbacks not addressed

Go to settings-wallpapers- set a new wallpaper and then go into stills. Scroll down the list. That scrolling has been stuttering for a long time now.
Mobile Data- Apps list stutter

Swipe to the left on home screen to enter Widgets pane- Tap Edit- Scroll down the list of apps. There is scroll stutter

I use Assistive Touch on my iPad because its convenient with a big screen. Open Siri- Then tap on the virtual button. As the menu flashes into view there are terrible frame drops.

Heck the calculator bug took making headlines all over the Internet before Apple fixed it months later.

Some of this feedback is years old and hasn't been addressed. Some were closed for being duplicates of another entry. They only fix the bugs which make headlines or widely reported. The smaller stuff is left to languish and you'll be lucky if its fixed years later.

For instance, on iOS 10,9 and 8 there is a animation bug in iMessage where when you tap on Edit, there is an animation for it but when you tap cancel, there is no corresponding animation. Reported this for years before it got fixed on iOS 11

I have AT&T WiFi calling turned on, and (because I live in a crappy reception area) use it all the time. I have never had any phone issues, and when I had the phone app lag/VVM bug, the WiFi calling didn’t have any affect on it.

I only use the charging stuff which comes in the box nowadays. When I used an iPad charger with my iPhone 6 my wear level was depreciating very fast and battery got wrecked in 2 years. I recall wear level was much below 80%. Of course one og the reasons was also iOS 9 which was causing me to charge my phone frequently. I was using one of that AmazonBasics lightning cable because unlike Apple's stock cable its braided and of a much better quality. This time with my 7 Plus I used the stock Apple cable and that 5w charger. Battery is at 98-99% after a year but I don't know if the fault was of the iPad charger or the cable. I think the lesson to be learnt here is don't use anything which is not Apple provided for the battery.

I never trust cheap charging alternatives. Most of the time you get what you pay for.
If you're looking for braided quality, I used the Native Union BELT Lightning-to-USB cable for my 7 Plus for a whole year without issue and am now using it for my 8 Plus. A good rule of thumb is buy from the apple store and you should be fine. Maybe expensive but worth the piece of mind.

Do all apps you use expressly state iOS 11 compatibility? Try them with the release versions beginning with 11.0 and then move upwards, still to the release versions only, and see if the hangs occur. You may find that compatibility existed in 11.0 and 11.0.1, then probably got broken in 11.0.2, etc.

I have an app that did not work in the background on iOS 11 beta and consequently I had to downgrade to iOS 10.3.3 till they stated iOS 11 support. Even then, after months, I just recently upgraded that device to iOS 11.2 beta 2, and found the same issue. Then, I downgraded to iOS release version, 11.0.1 at the time, and the app worked just fine. So, more often than not, developers provide compatibility with release versions because they can be sure of their app working with a given set of code quite reliably and flawlessly.

Apps not working on beta software is a blame game you don't want to play, the ball will always be swinging.

So you draw your conclusions from 90 million customers on a sample size of 1? You give apple much less credit then is due them.

I’ve used MFi certified third party cables (Anker, highly recommend) for several years on all my lightning iDevices, never had any issues.

I'm an Anker guy myself, but after seeing Mobile Reviews, Eh's teardowns of several lightning (including Anker), I think from here on out I'll be sticking to Apple's cables exclusively.

Attention detection doesn't seem to be working for phone calls even if I'm looking at the phone the ring tone is at full volume, alarm tones still work fine.
