News app crashes every time after watching a video and tapping the back button to return to the news stream. Reported. Files app will now download files from Dropbox, which it wouldn’t in the last beta. Weather widget still doesn’t update until some time in mid-morning. Very annoying.

I think battery life on iOS 11.2 beta 5 has been pretty ok for me thus far. I don’t think it’s quite as good as on iOS 10 though. This is the battery stats on my 3 years old 6+:

Anyone confirm if the update allows faster charging on Samsung fast chargers? Quote me please.
Mine seems to be slower than before I updated from iOS 11.1.2 to beta 5 on my iPhone X. I was at 34% at 9:30 am this morning and it’s now 12:32 pm and my phone is at 99% charge. I have the Samsung fast charger convertible.

Edit: At 12:33pm my phone finally reached 100%. Also, not sure when the cooling fan is supposed to turn on this charger.

Hmmm

So did apple really only let morphie and Belkin use the fast. That doesn’t seem possible unless they have a chip for apple.

The intermittent inability to close apps from the app switcher seems to be fixed in this version as far as I can tell.

Tapping on the status area to scroll to the top in Mobile Safari has worked every time as well.

I'm pretty sure this is not my imagination, but after installing beta 5 on my X, I'm finding that swiping up to unlock is failing sometimes. What I mean is that when I swipe up (after Face ID has authenticated me), sometimes the screen drops back down again as if I haven't swiped up enough. It only started doing it after updating from beta 4 to beta 5 last night. I'm wondering if they've changed the sensitivity of the display.

Either that or I am swiping it wrong :)

I've noticed the same thing.

Yes both 8 and 7 have it on iOS 11.

This beta has the same battery life as Beta 4. Don't bother with a clean install for this update. iOS 11 is the problem here for all 7 Plus users.

Your wear level seems fine extrapolating my data onto yours. With 91% Wear and 140 more charge cycles you get around 5 hours of usage. If I use my phone moderately it makes it to 7 hours but by using Facebook and a ton of apps I could drain the phone 6 hours

Downloading the beta right now, before I do anything like starting over. I think I might’ve figured out at least part of what’s causing a bit of a drain for me. I think it’s the poor WiFi connection at work all day. I have it shut off today (exception being while I’m doing ths update) and battery wasn’t decreasing near as much as it was any other day. Soon as I connected back to WiFi for the update it went down a couple percent, so I definitely think that’s at least part of it.

Still getting audio cutouts on Apple Music with Airpods. A bit better but still cutting out frequently. Not sure this makes sense but seems worst when there are lots of people around (Market St in SF for example). Not sure if it is because the device is checking for better devices to connect to, but it seems to happen always when I am in an area with a lot of other people. Never get it when I am in the central valley with family or in the bay area suburbs

Not sure if this is beta 5 specific. I’m one of those people that doesn’t worry about closing out apps and I was scrolling back through time just for kicks and saw this.

Edit: Damn that screenie is MASSIVE

Does anyone have any issues with HomeKit not triggering location based scenes? I.e. lights not turning on when I get home. Worked fine on my 7+.

I’m sure it was awhile back, but does anyone know when this was introduced?

After the message pops up when you stop a screen recording, you can pull down for more options. Nice feature.

FIIIIIIRST WOOOOOORLD PROOOOBLEEEEEEM.

How old are you? Were you around when dial-up Internet was a thing? You know NOTHING about delays. Quit your whining.

This "first world problem" argument can literally be applied to any annoying bug that a user encounters, so really you aren't making a point at all.

Why are people so against this bug being discussed? It's there, it's proven, so it deserves attention.

Also, your assuming attitude definitely begs me to ask you "how old you are." You're the one appearing immature if anything.

I won't "quit my whining" until it is fixed, so go waste your keystrokes telling others what to do elsewhere.

You mean by crippling and breaking older devices so that your forced to upgrade, as in the planned obsolescence meme?
By leaving older devices to wither and die on the vine to encourage purchasing the newest devices?

How does a business make a profit if no one buys their products?

Probably because it's not a bug, but rather an intentional change in behavior that makes all devices with a home button act the same. I don't speak for everyone but that's why I'm tired of hearing about it.

I think people are tired of hearing about it because of one very particular user..... YOU know.... haha :D

I'm somewhere in the middle: it makes sense for Apple to take away the fast home button to encourage people to buy the X, but I also see the point in making all "home button" experiences the same.... I actually don't mind the slight delay as it mimics a press and then release reaction as to a Press reaction.

The previous thread about this planned obsolescence garbage was closed for a very good reason - why on earth are these threads now becoming the same thing?? It is BEYOND annoying to keep reading about THIS and all the OCD about a millisecond delay. Can a new thread be started so this can be contained to save the sanity of those who are sick and tired of hearing about it?

If there's any consolation to this "bug", it's that scrolling is enabled quicker than it is in iOS 10. That is, when I press the button, even though the phone appears to be at the home screen faster in 10, I can actually start scrolling earlier in 11. But that might be placebo...

  • Phone app still freezes and loses visual voicemail for some users (fix: toggle Airplane mode and Wifi off for 30 seconds)
That's been my exact problem for the past few betas. Apple really needs to fix that.

But the airplane mode toggle worked. Thank you good Sir.

Well, I'm going to go back to the last beta. After a day on this I've noticed several issues. The phone app is broken for me (again), when I try to call anybody it freezes the first time. Also carplay was broken on 11.0 and 11.1 and then was fixed on the first several 11.2 betas but is now semi-broken with this beta. On 11.0 and 11.1 and now with this beta I don't see any album art displayed on my kenwood. A small thing I know but still, this is the 5th iteration and I expect things to get better, not worse. Hopefully I can successfully return to beta 4.

Can anyone confirm whether the X has the data activity spinner in the top right status bar? I've yet to see that one running the latest official release whereas I saw the circle spinner on my other phones 247 for most tasks.

Still none.
