I really want that freaking DARK MODE but I think we will see it in iOS 12 so that is not nice!
At this point, I really don't think we are getting one. I was a really strong proponent of it not coming until an OLED display phone. But, I think that ship has now sailed.

Same thought here - more likely make it shine for the X so it should be okay for the 8 and as long as it works on the older models we will optimize over time. :(

I don’t think it’s that. I think they just don’t care. Never attribute to malice what is easily explained by apathy.

Any chance we can go one thread without a conspiracy theory post from you?

I have an iPad Air 2, iPhone 6s and iPhone 5s, all running iOS 11. The 5s is a little slow, but all three devices have zero battery life issues.

----
As to the thread topic: I'm looking forward to iMessage in the cloud. I am so sick of deleting threads off of 5 different devices. Other than that and the usual bug fix here and there, I don't see anything that I really want. My devices do exactly what I need them to do. (watchOS on the other hand, I have a few things I want).
You could just ignore it without being antagonistic. Just a thought

iMessage in cloud would be helpful. I would love good old fashioned free icon placement. Hate having to reach way up on screen, or place throwaway apps I never use just to push the ones I do use to where I can reach them.

The button on the 8Plus isn’t exactly instant either. I don’t think it’s planned obsolescence.
Yeah, it really is probably by design (the home button response). I agree.

Then again, Apple doesn't really want you to buy the 8 anyway, or the seven, or the 6s, or the SE. They care nothing for peasants :p (yes yes... it's called tongue in cheek humor....)

You laugh, but some people actually believe it.

But they are not giving the home button iPhones the love they deserve. That’s still intentional. They have been informed about the problem and they continue to ignore it. I think if the X performs beautifully and the 8 Plus and 7 Plus don’t it’s clear what their strategy is. I don’t think they care about the 8 Plus as it wasn’t even advertised on their gift guide for Black Friday. Even on the Sway ad for AirPods iPhone X and AirPods were shown. Apple hasn’t talked about 8 for a long time. I think they hope when these customers play with the X they want them to feel how slow the old home button was.

Its not really surprising that Apple is advertising the X. Its the flagship product right now.

They’re not giving a lot of things the love it deserves. iTunes is still a mess, QuickTime continues to be a joke, iWork is getting nothing, Photos needs attention, iCloud is limping along, the MB keyboards are laughable, macOS just has a bug where you could log into root without a password, AirPlay 2 is ... is it out yet.

Need I continue?

Then why is the 8 Plus even released and why are these owners being given a worse experience just to upsell the X. The 7 Plus on iOS 10 would outperform the iPhone 8 Plus on iOS 11.2. That just shows how iPhones with old tech are treated in Apple’s ecosystem. People say lack of updates on Android is bad but I find this equally bad.

Apple admitted that the X was supposed to be the 2018 iPhone. So it seems competition made Apple push the date up. I assume the iPhone 8 was already in the works at that point.

Man... forgot about iTunes. It DOES suck. I have an unexplained problem with disconnection after a few songs of syncing with wifi or wire... and I can't find any easy solutions online. Effing drag and drop file system. Not that hard.

Apple should just release new features with new phones, and only release exploit fixes for old phones. Pair new features with new hardware. I'd be perfectly happy with that. (But there's surely a million reasons why hats stupid.) darned if you do, darned if you don't. Meh.
[doublepost=1512678123][/doublepost]Oh. So the thread doesn't get closed.... again.

11.3 should have Favorite texts come through Do Not Disturb. NOT just phone calls.

This will never happen, but I’d love to again have the ability to make genius playlists from the music on my phone that I own. I know I can do this in iTunes, but I loved being able to do that on the fly before they removed it in iOS 10 (9?) I think.

Would love to be able to again get to at least 5pm without having to charge my iPhone 7. Prior to September 19 it was making it through the day... the physical battery in my phone didn't change overnight, so can only be one thing.

This is already possible when setting 'Emergency Bypass ON' which overrides DND on a per-contact basis.

Based on? Seems like you have the Plus, which is somewhat different.

In a sense yes, but it comes with other usually undesirable side-effects, the main one is that the calls and texts from that contact will always have audible notifications, even if you have the phone on vibrate and would just want vibrate notifications.

thank you, but the problem with that is that the emergency bypass does not respect the silent switch. It rings your phone, even if you want it silent.

So, while I am using that now, it is not what I'm looking for because I need the screen to light up (and vibrate if needed) when a contact texts, but NOT ring the phone.

*see CDM's post above, too.

It really has, I'm eligible to upgrade from the Upgrade Programme fortunately (but not back in the UK to do it for another week). It can't come soon enough! But it shouldn't have to be like that. Something that was so, so powerful just a year ago, blowing everything out the water, shouldn't be running this badly just a year later.

iCloud Messages would be extremely beneficial. But I want this to work with my Apple Watch too. For example currently if I delete a thread or message on my iPhone it is not deleted on my Apple Watch.

Dark Mode would be nice.

This is not extremely high on my list but I would like some concept of an App Drawer similar to Android, along with free icon placement. I have several apps which I do not use on a regular basis, or even if I do it's not frequent enough to warrant display space on my home screen. I would like to be able to view my background better.
