I still think something is wrong with the battery. I had my iPad on the charger overnight and it had a full 100%, then I used it for about 30mins this morning watching Netflix while exercising. Battery went from 100% to 95%. Then, killed every app in the background, and left it sitting off at home while I went to work. Checked it now at 8pm, and it’s below 80%, with no one touching it during the day. And looking at the battery usage screen, it says it’s been used for 11 hours since last full charge, even though it was only used for 30 mins and then sat the rest of the time.

35 minutes of on screen time would normally consume 7-10% of my battery. So that leaves 15% unaccounted for. It’s a beta. Accounting complete.

Just saw an attempted app handoff between my phone and iPad. Used app on iPhone and the picked up iPad. App was in the variable (right side) section of the dock. Clicked on it, app opened but then got a dialog indicating that App Handoff Failed. Is this new? I’ve experienced handoff on Messages and mail, but never a third party app (RadarScope) before.

Handoff was available to 3rd parties from the start. Rarely adopted however.

This is a bug with iOS 10, too. It's easy to reproduce: plug in a Smart Keyboard, and press the left arrow key while typing. It jumps you to the bottom.

Are we sure this is new in iOS 11?

It’s not new, but it is a regression from iOS 10 GM. Funny that it happened again in 11. I wonder what it is they change?

Anyone else having an issue with the files app? I noticed this morning that any file I launch pulls up the exact same document (a PDF). I don’t think it’s an iCloud issue as my phone is still on iOS 10 and when I launch files via iCloud Drive they look fine.

Thanks, and I agree it's a beta, and bugs are expected. But that doesn't mean I don't want to try to get to the bottom of what's causing it, hence my post. So, I don't really accept "it's a beta" as the answer for "why" it's happening, and am looking to see if others have experienced battery drain during idle time, and if anyone has had any luck pinpointing it.

I've since reviewed all my background apps (to insure Only While Using), and double checked my Location System Services settings. Strangely, I did notice both Location-Based Suggestions and Setting Time Zone showed a grey arrow GPS indicator next to them (meaning this feature has accessed the GPS in the last 24 hours), but I had these features turn off completely. So I'm puzzled how they would have accessed the GPS in the last 24 hours.

Open calender app and close it. This may fix the issue.

I had to hold down on the icon to get it to wiggle mode and then moved it to a different location. Once I did that calendar opened properly for me. I had to do this with other applications too. But only 1 time.

Man this beta is so much worse for me than beta 1 it’s not even close.

Everything is buggy af. I reminisce about the days of beta 1....so stable.

Good luck, but unless you have advanced diagnostic tools (and you may), you won't know what diagnostic tools/logging/etc.. that Apple may be running. Again, the betas are tools for Apple and they may be (almost certainly are) running hidden processes and making periodic data dumps via wifi. So, its not necessarily that the software is not optimized and running down the battery, but that the battery is being used performing Apple initiated beta related tasks.

Unless I missed it before, reminders now automatically adds a call link when you create a reminder to call a contact.

I know under iOS 10 if I had a reminder to call someone, when the reminder popped up, it would have an option to initiate a call. But I don't recall if it did what you're showing above.

That is in no way terrible. Apple considers battery life normal if you are getting over 5 hours of usage a day. So you are above 5 hours with 25% to go and you are on a beta. It may not be what you are accustomed to, but definitely not terrible.
Is there any document from Apple which clarifies the 5 hour usage as normal.

Documentation no, but years of going to Genius bar appointments and dozens of friends that work in Retail store locations have given me the same exact response. (Apple doesn't give out internal requirements via documentation because people will try to use that against them.)

5 hours of usage is what they consider normal. If you are consistently getting below that, then its either a software of hardware issue. When you go to an Apple store and they run a diagnostic, it shows the last 2 weeks of battery usage. If the 2 weeks is under 5 hours per full charge on average, it will come back as a "fail". Between family members and myself, this has happened many times over the last 10 years of iOS devices. (Family members usually just give me their device and I go to the Genius bar for them.)

Remember the time that Apple mentions on the specs of the device is "up to time" in 100% perfectly optimal conditions.

I guess this may count as documentation (Excuse my typos, having a bad typing morning. The latter is suppose to say Awesome, thank you.):

Ok so odd bug that I am having with a specific contact in messages where the message will deliver, BUT their reply doesn't come to any of my iOS 11 devices... they will show on the Watch running the beta and on my stable release Sierra computers.
This is the only major bug I have had since upgrading. At least I have some way of viewing them for now.

My Apple Music app started working again, no idea what happened.

This update is long overdue. A desperately needed update.

I can just listen to local music fine, without issue.

Maybe only for Apple Music.

Yes. That’s a real frustration point. And no quick love. iOS 9 music player just too good to be ignored.

Is haptic feedback supposed to be making a clicking sound now with this update? For example, when I upvote something on Reddit, it vibrates but also makes a click noise.

The Dock on 9.7" Pro seems to be limited to 13 apps. Also on 9.7", downloading previously purchased apps is extremely buggy and takes a very long time.
