I now believe the reason why A9 does not support HEVC and HEIF. Performance is not enough.
I have a few video clips encoded as HEVC. While watching it, the phone becomes hot and battery drops low rapidly. I am using iPhone 6s Plus. A9 is just not powerful enough to decode HEVC content efficiently, let alone encode.

Apple has complete hardware level support for HEVC and HEIF in A9 and up.

Not sure if this existed in previous versions:

i really want to try it but heard and see some recovery scary things when install iOS 11 beta and since I don't have internet connection to my PC for the moment, if remains in recovery mode I will not be able to restore it! So that is my beta scary thing! :-D
Then you shouldn't do it. Nothing in 11 really that earth shattering. Still lots of compatibility issues, re-springs and generally unstable. And if you have no way to restore it would be a bad chance to take IMO. I would wait a few more betas but just my 2 cents.

Anyone else getting reasonably bad battery drain with this beta - across all devices?

Two things.

1. Anyone else with text replacements empty since Beta 3? Also can’t add any to the list.

2. Health app removed the bar chart for ‘Year’ and replaced it with a line graph. This removes the total and leaves only the average. Huge shame. iOS10 didn’t show much data at all and the addition of a total walked field was great. Not sure why it’s gone.

I was worried about updating to PB2 on my iPad 10.5”, and I regret it. Although they’ve fixed about half of the bugs I reported, they introduced a really annoying, new bug that crashes iOS.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Have at least two pages of apps
2. Place Mail on page two, not inside of a folder
3. Navigate to page two, and open Mail
4. Press the home button to leave the app
5. Swipe left to return to the first page of apps
6. Observe that iOS crashes

This is happening for me with most apps, but not all. Only on page 2. I reported it, but can anyone else here reproduce it?
Don't even need to go through those steps. Any app open then close with home button then immediately swipe say to get to widget screen. BAM re-spring.

Remove all website data:

Remove all website data no longer logs you out of websites. Not sure if this is a feature or a bug with clearing the data. It appears to clear the list in settings.

P.S. Can others please test and confirm whether they are experiencing the same behaviour?
Still does for me on iPad.

If you do "reset all settings" your iPhone is like new. Have you restored your backup after that ?
Got it backwards as that would defeat the purpose. You can restore THEN reset all settings if you want or just reset all settings. But if you restore a backup afterwards you undo the reset and put the settings back like they were prior to resetting.

Anyone else having issues with Photos? Namely where it randomly restores and then there are gaps in the photos. Some show up white and appear when clicked, but instantly disappear again. They are in iCloud and on my computer just fine. But won’t show on the phone.
This is not new to iOS 11. I had that happen before on iOS 10 something, just not appearing for some photos. I forget at the moment exactly what the files were (sorry) but something to do with the thumbnails database corruption Do a google search and you should find the solution. There are a few files that need deleting then the thumbnails will recreate.

Also may try this. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205069 Seems I tried editing as mentioned but ended up having to delete the database file(s).

Suddenly having major issues with Photos. It was working fine all week and today it just went berserk. I'll try to delete pics but they'll randomly reappear, I can't save edited videos or portrait mode pics, its taking forever to sync with iCloud...so many problems.

Mine are stuck downloading 12 pictures from iCloud since beta 1!

I reported this bug to Apple, they requested more info and I haven’t heard back since beta 2!

Had this issue a couple days ago. Ever since this happened, I have been getting more resprings, freezes and crashes. A hard reset didn’t help for all that long. And now the locking bug is back, and worse than before. Did a restore, even. Not much luck. Was hoping for a new beta yesterday but I can handle this.

PS. When did we lose the ability to upload videos on here?

I am having the exact same issue. Sometimes when my phone goes into landscape, this starts to occur also. Holding the power and volume down button does not fix it. Usually it takes a few minutes for it to sort itself out.

Do you lose your Wi-Fi networks too? I have iCloud Keychain enabled; in the past, I've lost all my Wi-Fi passwords across iOS devices and my MacBook once I reset all settings on my iPhone with iCloud Keychain toggled on.
I think you have to disable the iCloud KeyChain first and then reset all setting so you don't loose the ones on iCloud, and then turn it on again to recover all passwords, wifi networks, etc.

Yep I waited for like 3 minutes but kept doing it. A hard reset fixed it.

Not sure if I should recommend resetting all settings. It’s a pain to set everything up again and it doesn’t always fix the issue.

Really? Then the app developer should be able to find a way to decode HEVC video using hardware, and Apple should allow A9 device users to take photo and video in new format in iOS 11. The reality is: Apple only allows A10 devices to do so, at least for now.

wow, that seems like kind of a deal breaker in terms of the beta on a primary device. imagine trying to use your phone in an emergency and you have to wait a few minutes for the phone to stop freaking out

I think in the coming betas the functionality should be made available and polished.. :)

That is true! I’m a pretty patient person so as long as whatever is going on can be fixed with a hard reset, I’m good. My iPad is getting a lot of resprings too.

As long as I can play my favorite game on my iPad with no interruptions, I’m good. :)

Uh, anyone else experiencing this? Suddenly started getting warnings about storage being full (I've never been close) so I see that the system is taking up 104GB.
