iOS 11 Beta 3: Changes, Bug Fixes, Enhancements, etc.

This is not new to iOS 11. I had that happen before on iOS 10 something, just not appearing for some photos. I forget at the moment exactly what the files were (sorry) but something to do with the thumbnails database corruption Do a google search and you should find the solution. There are a few files that need deleting then the thumbnails will recreate.

Also may try this. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205069 Seems I tried editing as mentioned but ended up having to delete the database file(s).

That worked, even just from the iPhone. Edit>rotate>Done. Edit>rotate back to normal >Done. Fixed.

Suddenly having major issues with Photos. It was working fine all week and today it just went berserk. I'll try to delete pics but they'll randomly reappear, I can't save edited videos or portrait mode pics, its taking forever to sync with iCloud...so many problems.

Be careful with the iCloud upload. Make sure they are in the cloud before you decide to restore or anything.

I had to wipe my phone last week because photos weren’t showing up, were flashing into place and disappearing again, showing as black boxes in the collections view etc. Anyway, I got frustrated and wiped my phone. But it hadn’t backed them up to iCloud for the 7 days prior to that, so I lost all my holiday photos!

The wipe did force it to act as normal again, however. Besides this weird bug with blank thumbnails.

Anyone else got the News App in a country where it is not available and after a short time it suddenly disappeared without any iOS update?

My iPhone and iPad is set to English but normally I only got it by setting the region to USA or UK and after deleting it, it's not available for reinstall in my App Store and I had to switch the region back and forth again.

I think I already read here or in another thread someone also got it despite unsupported region settings even with the phone set to native language but with English news.

When I change the region I don't get local news in the widget anymore. Would be nice to have at least both.

I wonder why Apple is taking so long supporting more countries in the app but not in the widget. They already lost me and possibly many others. I'd rather use Google News what has also weather integrated (no need for Apple Weather anymore, I deleted it) also the news are translated to the language settings of my phone, what is not the case in Apple's widget.

Thanks for the warning...I ended up disabling iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone, deleting all the photos on that device, and then syncing all the photos back to the phone. I have everything on my Mac and with Google as well so I wasn't too concerned with losing anything. Such a pain in the ass though!

Just noticed that Resetting All Settings does not make you go through the Hey Siri setup if you had it previously setup. You just turn it on and it’s already setup from before.
They must be using iCloud to sync that in iOS 11 as in iOS 10 I had to set up Hey Siri each time I reset my settings.

I seem to one of the lucky ones. Hardly any issues at all. Text selection glitches etc
iOS 11 has changed the whole way I use my iPad. Pretty much everything is dumped on the dock for easy access.

Is it just me or is anyone else experience a second or two delay when opening favorites in Safari? I open it up and go to tap a link but the search box takes a second to open and moves all my favorites down one space. Now I have to remember to pause cause everything will move or I’ll tap the wrong link.

Is the search thing new in beta 3? I don’t remember this happening in beta 1 or 2.

Same here. Beta 1 and 2 were fairly stable and somewhat usable but Beta 3 locks up, restarts, etc so much it is getting annoying.

Had this issue a couple days ago. Ever since this happened, I have been getting more resprings, freezes and crashes. A hard reset didn’t help for all that long. And now the locking bug is back, and worse than before. Did a restore, even. Not much luck. Was hoping for a new beta yesterday but I can handle this.

PS. When did we lose the ability to upload videos on here?

Are you sure you didn’t have shuffle on in the player before you started the playlist? Mine was shuffling automatically until I turned it off, then when I started a new playlist it played from the beginning, in order.

Anyone getting this annoying prompt when switching from emoji to numeric on the keyboard?

I performed a “reset all settings” this morning to try and improve battery life on db3 and this started happening. Wasn’t an issue for me on any previous beta prior to that.

Definitely one of the buggier betas, but better than 2 I think.

You may need to re-enable location services (specifically Setting Time Zone).

Is anyone getting strange behavior with Messages? Every time I reboot my phone, I suddenly get 3-4 text/iMessages that "arrive", but they are messages that I already had received (and since deleted) from days/weeks ago. It's almost like the Messages syncing to iCloud is messed up and remembering old messages and sending them to my phone again as new.

I have Messages on iCloud enabled on both my iPhone 7+ and my iPad Air 2, both running iOS 11 PB2. I also have Text Message Forwarding turned on on my iPhone 7+ to go to my iPad from iOS 10. I'm wondering if the two settings are conflicting somehow (as the forwarding seems a little redundant if both devices are set up for Messages on iCloud).

No not at all. I just never reported so many bug reports for any beta. They responded to one report so far. It was to a bug I reported in Public Beta 1. It seems to be resolved in Public Beta 2.

All of a sudden, a media app to stream videos stopped working. It did work with iOS 11 Pb 1 and 2 for weeks now – but today, it started crashing every single time I started a video.

Next, Lifesum, which worked – with a lot of crashes in iOS 11. Just an hour ago, it "lost" all activity data and doesn't seem able get it from the Health app.
I really hate to say it, but how they'll be able to fix everything broken in iOS 11 in just eight weeks is beyond me.

Short answer, they won’t. iOS 10.0 was okay but 10.3 really seemed to clean things up. I’m guessing the same with this release, especially since they are most likely releasing some pretty software intensive features for the iPhone 8, such as inductive changing, facial/retina scanning, AR features etc which may mean their software development resources are being stretched.
