How about that, they managed to make the ugliest icon, uglier! Also, the Camera icon looks tweaked as well, the bevel looks more profound.

New haptic feedback when you double press home and you have no apps running. Similar to 3D touching an app and it has no functions.

Visually, it conflicts with the notification bubble, thus it is a poor design choice. I'm betting it was flipped by accident, as you suggest.
