After reading countless posts about the "lag" associated with 3D Touch, I decided to give it a try and see what all the fuss is about. I see it. It's there...... so what. It's consistent on every app so it's likely something that will be worked out in a future update but it's not even lag. It's a small frame drop that doesn't affect usage time whatsoever. The way people have been complaining you would think the feature was near unusable.

I think it was suggested earlier in this thread or a previous beta thread: blink.

Very happy with this :) was continually getting around 5.5 hours on the previous beta.

Do you believe that every beta is a successful step forward only when and if it performs better than the last shipped release software, despite being better than the previous release in terms of features that benefit and ultimately better one's user experience? Please answer this as simply as you can, without going into anything else.

If your answer is yes, you don't know the spirit of beta software, and software development in general. If your answer is no, then I do not understand why you would literally whine about lags right from beta 1 threads.

As regards to a reiteration, beta 7 was positively fluid, and beta 8 seems to build on that. Of course, stutters regarding 3D are there, but they have improved. Heard of patience? There is a reason 10.3.3 is fast - it went through 10.0.0 to 10.3.3 and several beta iterations in between. 10.0.0 was not as fluid as 10.3.3 is.

Sometimes I feel this whining has only increased ever since Apple decided to open the gates to the public who knew nothing of a software development cycle to begin with, and in fact, only just came to the playground expecting something unreal. So long as there were paid developer account memberships only, the amount of whining was staggeringly less.

Everything about this reply is applause-worthy...

Are you 100% sure that you want to trust this "new" behaviour?
Since it’s just doing what i’ve done without my having to remember to turn the wifi back on, yeah I trust it.

Anyone know if they will ever add the "plug in and play" where you plug headphones in and the screen comes on and automatically suggests music?? Introduced in iOS 9 (i think) but was removed/always broken or glitched, in iOS 10. Im on the newest iOS 11 beta and its still not been fixed! pretty annoying!

That sounds pretty useful, I do however like the feature when you’re connected to headphones and double press home button it pops up at the bottom which music source you’re using for quick access. For me it’s Spotify

yeah it was such a useful feature!! Does your iOS 11 beta do that with the music icon? My iOS 10 onwards glitches and that feature disappears, no music icon in bottom! I found this which is what happens to me on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/53sdbw/ios_10_no_longer_recognises_plugging_in/
It's something to do with the siri suggestions/spotlight suggestions. toggling the settings switch fixes it for a few days. I was just wondering if anybody knew if it would be back to the iOS 9 where you plug headphones in, and the screen turns on AND music play button pops up directly like it does when music is playing on the lock screen. :)

EDIT: Forgot to say I heard some people saying that this was apples way of forcing people onto AirPods rather than wired headphones because apparently it works fine with AirPods? (anyone got AirPods and tested that before? thanks!)

Mines working... Carrier version 29.0...

I usually use Wifi-calling in conjunction with airplane mode (so wifi on and airplane mode on). This worked fine since wifi-calling was launched, but for the last few months its been borked. Only can recieve/send sms when I have airplane mode off.

What are the carrier version numbers for either of those providers?

Fido 29.0

Betas 6, 7 and 8 have been glitchy messes on my Air 2. Like constant respringing and crashing. Its almost unusable. Even after a fresh install.

Having issues with those past few betas as well on my iPhone 7. Random freezes and resprings. Second day of beta 8 I got a big freeze and then the phone restarted and was hot for awhile. I don’t have iCloud Photo Library on or even a large photo library. Here’s to hoping I guess.

Edit: Also been getting lots of screen flickers since beta 7. Like almost every 30 seconds when using my phone.

Yeah. I'm also having major issues with photos as well. I have a 1000 photo library via iTunes and it just won't sync. iTunes keeps dropping the connection with the iPad and then it resprings. What a mess. Normally I immediately install the GM on my iPhone after the event. I might be holding off.

Yeah, I’m guessing they are still sorting out things with the new formats.

I still have tons of issues with the Live Photo effects not working and sometimes turning on an effect makes the photo disappear until the next beta. Was quite concerning at first, but those photos always came back after updating the the next beta.

And yes, agreed. Though I hope that the code for certain iPhone 8 features doesn’t hold up the release of an 11.1 or similar.

My restart time from a powered off state is extremely long.

Additionally, FaceTime Audio is broken for me.

Both are reported.

The resprings are getting kind of ridiculous. Typically I got one or two every couple of days on beta 7 but the first day of using beta 8, I got 6 resprings just from doing stuff on the phone. Opening speed test app, opening fast.com app, pulling notification center down etc. Not sure what's going on.

Not had a single restart or respring here on my iPhone 7 plus. I did I clean install though. Not sure if that's why

Profile photos on album covers that I have in my collection. Is that new? I’ve never noticed it before if not.

Tripple home Button press should invert colors but its just flickering gray. Set back to classic invert method solves the problem (iPhone 6s).

Also if you disable flight mode Wifi and bluetooth are enabled (even if there were not enabled before). Does anyone else could verify this?

If you ‘disconnect’ WiFi or Bluetooth in control centre and then switch flight mode on, when you disable flight mode wifi / Bluetooth will switch back on. I believe this is the expected behaviour in iOS 11. The control centre toggle does not switch the chip off, it only disconnects from the current wifi connection.

However if you switch WiFi or Bluetooth off by going to settings and then enable and disable flight mode, WiFi and Bluetooth will remain switched off.

On my iPad Pro 9.7” it is working as described above.
