It doesn't make sense. Can you guys please explain it to me? I want real life experiences when it's actually convinient to quickly disconnect from current Wi-Fi.

I'm at work, where my phone automatically joins the wifi, as I'm fine using it most of the time. But I want to disconnect for some reason. Maybe it's slow during peak hours, maybe I like not having IT know that I'm browsing NSFW subreddits, maybe I want to use services that the network at my work don't allow. Whatever. So I disconnect by a press of a button.

Now I don't have to worry about not connecting when I get home, because I forget to turn it back on. Or if I want to use airdrop (which doesn't require a wifi network, but does require the wifi to be turned on, as it uses p2p-wifi).

3D touch menu on home screen for Safari not working until the App is launched for the First time after reboot.

I have to join the debate about the Wi-Fi toggle.. Many of you says that it's better this way, but are you aware of how redundant that feature is? At least I think so. If I want to disconnect from my current Wi-Fi I can just walk away without touching a toggle to disconnect from it.
I work in a building with dozens of Wi-Fi access points. I don't want to connect to certain ones - it says in CC "Connected to ____" and I can disconnect quickly without turning wifi off.

Good luck with that... the joys of running beta software.
One other thought, it's entirely the job of the OS not to let 3rd-party apps lock up the entire device for minutes at a time. Even if the app is completely hung, OS functions should still work. iOS has always worked like this until recently. Somehow apps are now making the entire OS itself hang.

Fortunately haven't seen the issue on beta 8 yet, fingers crossed they resolved it and we can totally forget about it :D
[doublepost=1503970626][/doublepost]Has anyone else been having an issue where battery 'Standby' and 'Usage' times are always identical no matter what you do? On ALL of the iOS 11 betas I've had this same thing. Even if I leave my phone locked/unused for hours, I'll always see the exact same value for both of these fields. Attached an example. My phone has been locked pretty much the entire time.

Anybody using Fido/Rogers wifi-calling have non-working SMS? Customer service is no help; not really a beta problem though.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic but you are exactly right! I'd like to see some comparison videos of an iPhone 7 on 10.3.3 vs the new 7S/8 running 11 and see the speed difference. They will be neck and neck. But upgrade your 7 to iOS 11 and it will be slower by a notch than it was before. We go through this every year.

It’s almost like this is a long running planned obsolescence conspiracy!

ware of how redundant that feature is? At least I think so. If I want to disconnect from my current Wi-Fi I can just walk away without touching a toggle to disconnect from it.

For example, when I'm home and I decide to go out, I know that I won't be using Wi-Fi so I simply turn it off in control center. That toggle is there when I want to DISABLE that thing not to tap on it to "disconnect" from it when more lazy way of doing that is to only walk away.

It doesn't make sense. Can you guys please explain it to me? I want real life experiences when it's actually convinient to quickly disconnect from current Wi-Fi.

PS: It would make some sense if we could 3D Touch on the toggle and quickly switch between available Wi-Fi connections.

Makes perfect sense. Sometimes I’m in a place where the WiFi sucks and so I turn it off to use the LTE. That’s doesn’t mean the next place I go I don’t want it to conserve my data and try out the WiFi at the new place. You want to turn off WiFi completely use the old way or just tell Siri to do it. But there are few situations where I want there to be no option of WiFi, I just want to be able to easily turn off just bad WiFi.

Anyone who can’t adapt to the new way has other issues than turning off WiFi.

Same stdby and usage is a common issue. Means some service or app is constantly running. Check apps in battery usage. If nothing stands out look at iCloud for sync or photo uploads hung up. Can sign out and back in. Or email Acct hung up. Disable, reboot, and enable again. Lastly reset all settings option (or try network first) will typically resolve that issue.

Yeah I like the new way the WiFi toggle works. I don't always want to use my work WiFi, so I turn it off. Then when I get home, it auto connects to my home network.

I do think a 3D Touch would make sense, so that it can bring up a "Disable" and "Off" option. But if it bothers you that much, like everyone else has said, turn it off in Settings or via Siri. There are multiple options to turn it off, this is the only option (as far as I'm aware) to disable it in this way.

Installed the second it came out, first impressions (iPhone 7):
- Unplugged phone at 100% when I went to bed, 8h of sleep and it was at 96% when I woke up. Effectively the same drop I had on the latest iOS10 over night.
- No lag here, 3DTouch is as smooth as it was on iOS10 (can‘t comment on the home button delay).

As for people complaining about wifi being always on, it actually improves battery. First off, wifi chip consumes a negligible amount of power, second it helps a lot with getting your current location and boosts your battery that way (because your phone doesn‘t have to rely on your GPS chip only).
The bluetooth toggle enhances your experience because of stuff like iBeacon (although I don‘t know any shop that uses them here) + it‘s nowhere near the battery life sucker it was back in the days. You wont really notice a difference.

//EDIT: Lock screen music controls, CC volume toggle and status bar headphones icon still dying on me. Starting to believe this requires a full restore to be resolved... guess will try it wheb my iP8 arrives.

When I got home I want to use my own wifi network. But at my house my iPhone stays connected to a wifi Hotspot from my mobile provider. I use that wifi Hotspot all the time when I'm not at home (trainstation, downtown, restaurants). It has a very good coverage all over the city where I live. But I dont want to use it at my place, because my own Wifi network is much faster.
So now with 1 toggle I can disconnected from the Hotspot and use my own network.

Welcome to MacRumors, where a WiFi toggle and a 0.0005 second 3D Touch lag warrants pages of threats and Android-switching meltdowns.
No understand theres a huge ui lag and its not exceptable the frame rate is not just 0.5 millisecond its noticeable comapires to ios 10 and the 3d touch is horrible and not smooth after 8 betas this is worrying
[doublepost=1503990409][/doublepost]Speed and proformance is most import that gimicky features ios 11 doeant bring anything new on iphone just new cc which isnt great its a massive step down with speed ao many things could have been changed to make ui better but nope nothing

Then go back to 10 lol. I don't see the point in complaining through all 8 betas about software being of beta quality. Downgrading fixes your issue. Wait for official release if it's ruining your phone experience that much.

Have you considered that you might have a hardware problem? I do not see others with the same issues as you. My own experience: without ability to count frame-rate or measure milliseconds, I can only judge by my own reaction time. Since the home screen is in place before I have removed my digit from the button, I fail to see how any more speed could improve my life. IPhone 5s
