Ios 11 that just released is like a beta version

I downloaded ios 11 on my iPhone 6s, and its such a piece of garbage.
It crashes, lags, animations are noticeably slower (apple slowing down older phones),
when i force touch on icons, sometimes it vibrates, sometimes its not (giving it that very good feel).
Scrolling in apps is slower, laggy, apps open noticeably slower.
Also, why is there another bar in messages app when i open a message.
There is already the app store button next to the camera one, i dont need al that S**t down there

I've had a perfect, fast phone that never crashed, never lagged, now i got a slow phone that sometimes crashes when i open a simple app. (Safari for example).

What the hell apple.

Also, i hate the contrast changing thing when the screen comes on. Srsly, whats the point? It looks ugly.

On my 7+:

- stable, no lag, fast
- forced touch works just fine
- apps don't open slower, maybe it's the crossfade effect that make you think it's slower, but it's not, scrolling (safari) is actually faster than iOS 10
- kinda agree about the bar in Messages, feels unnecessary right now...

iPhone SE, iOS 11 via OTA update. Stable, no lag, apps open, scroll and close as quickly as before as far as I can tell/remember, hidden the annoying bar in Messages (thanks to @C DM for that).
 
i used to work in software engineering at apple so i can share some insight here. (i don't work there anymore otherwise i wouldn't be allowed to speak at all on apple related forum regardless of topic.)

when you upgrade to a new version of the operating system, in order for customers to use their phones right away (instead of seeing a blank "setup" screen), we continue a lot of optimization, database migration/upgrade, etc behind the scene. some of these things will be done opportunistically (e.g. when you are charging overnight), but some activities need to start right away. these background activities will keep the ap (application processor, aka "cpu") on in the background, competing for the resource your foreground applications are using.

give it a few days and you will see a much more stable stead state experience.

however, as any major version upgrade, performance, battery life, and stability will suffer quite a bit in exchange for features. how apple (and most companies) releases software is the major (X.0) versions are for features, and subsequent versions (.X) are for performance/battery life optimization, bug fixes, etc.

trust me, there are teams of engineers whose jobs are solely dedicated to improve your phone's performance, reduce crashes, etc.

It just feels very annoying when i have a perfect phone that never freezes, lags or anything (and i mean never), and it goes to hell after update.
Just now it froze when i tried to go into the privacy menu in settings. 4 times in a row.
Hope its going to get better..

Btw the messages bar problem got solved as the previous posters said thanks.
 
I have an iPhone 5S 6 and 7plus on iOS 11 they all work fine. No lag or stutters. Don’t know what’s wrong with your phone
 
My Air2 seems to be working fine on ios 11. Just not as smooth and fast as 10.3.3 For me this version sure beats 10 when it came out. Now to sit back and wait for future updates...the good bad and the ugly.
 
Everything you said is always the complaint about every major iOS update. I personally like iOS 11. It will "grow" on folks just like all other changes.

When they revamped the music app with the funky font and extra white space I had a feeling that it would eventually be applied across the device. I had to suck it up and get used to it. Welll... it happened and now the revamp is here.
