Bullpoop! It’s the exact opposite, if your device isn’t old 32-bit tech, it’s getting better and better with every OS update. The software improvements over time are the real reason to prefer Apple over Windows and Android. When the iPhone 4 was introduced it didn’t have iMessage. The original iPhone didn’t came with an AppStore. Upgrades prolonged the life time of these devices.

Thats not 100% True, how come the iPhone 5s to 6s is getting worse with new OS updates? Their 64 bit does not matter if their processor, chip, cpu, and gpu is lacking some hevc encoding or clocked at lower speed.

iPhone 5S - Gradually gets slower with updates since iOS 8
iPhone 6 stable until iOS 9 but slows down dramatically After iOS 9..
iPhone 6S - Only gets faster after 1 OS update, but dramatically sees a slowdown after 2 years, Trying hard, or the 6s is like iPhone 7 wannabe (Trying hard to be powerful as iPhone 7 but failing) because of software limitations

It seems like only the iPhone 7 and newer Ages better with iOS updates but the 6S below is such an incomplete device with weaker processor.. so they get worse with iOS updates

Must be engineers devoted to breaking CarPlay constantly. Why does it keep disconnecting? Why can’t I rate songs that are in my library? Why does it push me to stream my music and use my cellular data? What if my connection is bad on my commute? No music? Why does Carplay prevent me from browsing anything but one screen of my playlists? I have to use Siri? Why does Siri work like garbage? CarPlay and Siri are just a sad joke. Over promises and no functionality worth anything.

i used to work in software engineering at apple so i can share some insight here. (i don't work there anymore otherwise i wouldn't be allowed to speak at all on apple related forum regardless of topic.)

when you upgrade to a new version of the operating system, in order for customers to use their phones right away (instead of seeing a blank "setup" screen), we continue a lot of optimization, database migration/upgrade, etc behind the scene. some of these things will be done opportunistically (e.g. when you are charging overnight), but some activities need to start right away. these background activities will keep the ap (application processor, aka "cpu") on in the background, competing for the resource your foreground applications are using.

give it a few days and you will see a much more stable stead state experience.

however, as any major version upgrade, performance, battery life, and stability will suffer quite a bit in exchange for features. how apple (and most companies) releases software is the major (X.0) versions are for features, and subsequent versions (.X) are for performance/battery life optimization, bug fixes, etc.

trust me, there are teams of engineers whose jobs are solely dedicated to improve your phone's performance, reduce crashes, etc.

On 6s plus when I wake it up the crap is still sideways and I have to close out apps to straighten everything up. Just ridiculous

I think they’ve hit the Windows me or vista stage of their iOS development. Pure trash. I’m considering ready to let google ream my bottom by switching to android. It’s gotten too bad to use for my main computing device.

What head unit do you have? I find on my Kenwood Carplay and Siri both work pretty flawlessly with just the odd Siri misunderstanding...?
