Sorry to add to this but in all the years using iOS this is the first time i have instantly hated the look of my device. Dont get me wrong i like the dock & control centre is practically usefull now But the in app UI is ugly beyond anything i have seen before. Messages, podcast apps are truly obnoxious to look at on my iPad.
What has happened here, who designed this mess? Its like an awful android Theme thats trying & failing to emulate iOS

Never ever ever ever ever ever update to a new iOS of your phone is over 2 years old.
I dont understand this. Apple still advertise the 6s, its in their current lineup so if someone were to go to apple store to purchase a 6s/plus in the coming weeks/months wouldnt it come preinstalled iOS11?
If any 6s users have a battery replacement within 2 years of ownership shouldnt their iPhone (in theory) function the same as an apple store model with a fresh install of new software?

Aside from that whole “over 2 years old” thing just being a subjective opinion, technically speaking, 6s would be just within that time period.

Yes. The fact that apple still market and sell the device (regardless of age) surely shows confidence on their part, and they have the smarts to know that it will ‘comfortably’ run on their current software?

They're not likely to be marketing a device for at least another year that runs a hot mess and risk a landslide of returns...Regardless of 6s age, it should handle iOS11 with ease given that apple will have thoroughly tested it when deciding to stock as part of their current lineup.

They were still selling iPad Mini 1 when iOS 9 launched and it was far from usable.

Really? I didnt know this. So they were unusable due to software, I imagine they would have had major returns on those models? I would feel outraged

What’s the issue there?

Looks pretty crap compared to my iOS 10 screenshot, if it wasn't for my iPhone 8 arriving on Friday id be skipping iOS 11 , not liking what I've been reading

What sort of glitches?

The music player widget will still randomly show up on the lock screen. When I flip my device the orientation doesn’t seem to recognize it’s on its side. Still randomly freezes my iPad and iPhone. App Store may or may not come up. Most of these are fixed with a reboot. Just some of my issues I come across.

And I have newer devices, I have a 7 plus and the newest iPad. So it is not that I have an older device.

If a reboot does the job, then that's great. Still, I think Apple should check out issues like this.

I’ve not had any problems with iOS 11 on my iPhone 6S+ since the first public beta came out. I updated my 7+ yesterday and have had no problems with it either. I also like the fonts used.

I agree this release really does feel like a beta. And I’ve been thinking that maybe Apple sees it that way - with the iPhone X still over a month away, maybe they’ve been targeting a fully stable version for then instead of now. My guess is all the pressure is on meeting that release. I can’t think of any other reason that this does not feel finished - and this is Apple we’re talking about, they wouldn’t have just not noticed.

Apple's standards have really slipped over the past few years. Not impressed at all tbh.

I expect that sort of janky rubbish from 3rd party Android devices, but not here.

Charge premium prices, the whole package has to fit that.

It's pretty much par for the course as far as it goes for many x.0 type of major releases.

The iOS 6 and 5 and basically all versions of iOS forums here, for example, are full of all kinds of people complaining about all kinds of things. Nothing really new.

Rolling back to 10.3.3 this evening. I’ve had my 6s lock up 4 times today requiring a hard reboot and not liking the occasional lags.

**update**

I did a reset all settings first and it seems to be better. I’ll give it another day to see if that took care of the lockups.

It’s honestly honestly not, I come on here and defend iOS year after year - but this year it’s different - it DOES feel like a beta version, it is clearly unfinished. In normal .0 updates which I agree are never perfect, you can at least see it’s finished and there may be some difficult-to-find tweaking to do, but this is stark you don’t even have to look! Being buggy and jittery is one, but also the simple design, the inconsistencies, the margins, spacing, fonts, highlights, text etc etc. I work in a design studio and I can honestly say we would not let some of theses errors out of our office for an internal review of a first draft, never mind the final release.

Trust me I’m normally you, telling people to be patient and let them fix things, but this year’s is different - it’s not even at a stage yet where it’s about fixing - it very simply, very clearly isn’t finished yet.

Everyone can have a different experience, and sometimes it only happens here or there rather than all the time or at different times than others. In this case seems like you have a different experience than usual, while many others aren't. That's basically the same as with most other x.0 releases, just that sometimes those experiences differ somewhat and the people having them can differ as well. Beyond that, it's basically just about the same. All these types of things were said in many threads about 10.0, and 9.0, and 8.0, and 7.0, and even with versions prior to that as well.

I’m happy for you that you’re not noticing it. But it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. I’m not talking about normal, usual .0 stuff that, as you say is in all of them and some people have a different experience than others but that is about how different people perceive UX and whether they think something is a problem or not, if they don’t, that doesn’t mean it actually isn’t. I’m talking about clear, easy to fix things that I just can’t understand how they’ve gotten into a final version. You can check some for yourself now very quickly: eg. the margin of the bold titles in Mail (eg “Inbox”) are off - Apple’s design guidelines say they should align with the search bar - as you can see in Mail they are further to the right than in any other app.
Files app - a non-standard searchbar used, look and compare to the search bars in every other stock app - it’s smaller and further away from the bold title than in any other app.

2 very quick things you can check that, if I let out of my office my boss would go crazy about. It’s sloppy, it’s very poor and it’s not what Apple is about. And all this is before we even get to the lags, crashes, and glitches.

And that fits with everything I've said: it's been like that with basically every x.0 release--there were always people having similar type of complaints, you just didn't happen to be one of them until this release, but that doesn't change that this isn't really anything new or all that different (aside from how things are affecting you being new and different for you in when it comes to this release compared to other ones).

Thank you for your reply!
It just feels very annoying when i have a perfect phone that never freezes, lags or anything (and i mean never), and it goes to hell after update.
Just now it froze when i tried to go into the privacy menu in settings. 4 times in a row.
Hope its going to get better..

Btw the messages bar problem got solved as the previous posters said thanks.

yeah i totally understand your pain. i too hope they could iron out all the kinks, especially some of these very glaring obvious ones!

I’ll add to the conversation... My 6s Plus runs like complete **** on iOS 11. I’m experiencing everything the OP mentioned.

I noticed this more often on the last devolper beta update and I did the OTA upgrade to the GM build. I’m about to restore it from scratch however I feel like I shouldn’t have to do this with every iOS release...
