I agree, but I’d say it’s about as stable as the first public beta for iOS 10 was and dev beta 2 has only been out for 4 days.

But iOS 11 Beta 2 has a severe bug that prevents people from downgrading back to 10.3.2, which means Apple would be unleashing a nightmare on themselves if they were to push it as public beta 1.

Especially coupled with the 32bit app sunset. Nightmare writ large.
How is the 32bit app a problem? Its been speculated for months now that iOS 11 will drop 32bit. iOS 10.3 pretty much told us.

As Tim Cook mentioned during the keynote, Public beta will be released at the end of June which means this week. If you have some insider info share specific day !?!
Yes, Apple said end of the month at the keynote. That was before they submitted a beta that had the inability to downgrade, which would be a catastrophe if they released that to public testers.

Doesn't matter what has been announced.

The "Public" has a different mindset, and when they realize that an app that they need hasn't been updated and and they can't revert back to 10.3.3, well, you know what happens next.

I agree with you on the mindset of the "Public" BUT beta means beta and if you take the risk of using a beta then you may have to suffer until it gets fixed - Risk vs Reward.

Maybe I am in the minority because I have read a lot from this forum and some believe the BETA should be perfect the first time and have no issues and get so bent out of shape that something doesn't work. If that is the case Apple wouldn't say it would be ready in the fall.

Beta 3 today??
I say Beta 3 tomorrow, PB Thursday. Otherwise I would have guessed PB today and DP 4 next week. But this downgrade bug is probably changing things. It will probably be the first time a DP2->DP3 of X.0 is under a week.

Beta 3 today or tomm and PB Wed/Thurs to meet end of month.

The current Beta 2 still has a few major issues (cant downgrade being the biggest) they need to correct; and quite a few semi-big ones like apps are not properly closing in the app switcher without glitching and a few other bigger glitches.

I think there's a chance of B3 today. Last week's B2 seemed too off cycle.

I've been spectacularly wrong before on this.

Seems that you answered your own question. ;)

That and logically why would they release DP2 last Wednesday and wait approx. a week to release the same build as PB? Plus, typically PB are 1 or 2 days later so that they can keep the DP cycle in the meantime.

If they released a PB now with the same build as DP2, and then DP3 next week to hit every 2 weeks, it would mess up syncing them up next time.

I think the chance of PB this week being DP3 is incredibly high; absent them just releasing PB today and then DP3 later which I still think is less likely.

Highly doubt Beta 3 will come out today, don't think Apple has ever done that. Public beta definitely this week with beta 3 in early July. Although i would love for apple to release beta 3 today, fix some of the annoying issues i have currently. If public beta does indeed come out this week, any ideas as to whether it would be exactly the same as DB2 or would it have some minor changes

I don't think "Apple has never done that" is a guiding principle for beta predictions anymore. Last year we had "Apple has never gone 3 weeks on a b1-b2 of a .0 release" and they did. This year we all used the 3 weeks from last year as the prediction, and Apple released a b2 on 1pm PST on a Wednesday, which they've never done before,

It just doesn't seem very Apple like but we shall see at 6pm. If they do release beta 3 then i'll be jumping up and down

They also have never released a beta that you could not downgrade from. So that changes everything. That has to be fixed before PB is released. Apple usually releases PB 2 days after DP. So we should have gotten it Friday, but because of the downgrade issue, things will probably change.

Yeah but that's no different that relying on software that is four or five years old and now no longer supported in a new OS on your computer. People will have to adjust even as they blame Apple for not making the OS compatible with every app made ever. With the Public Beta, however, Apple makes you jump through a few hoops before you can install it and that's probably intentional because if it were a simple download then there would be a whole world of hurting every summer :)

It's really a non issue. 99% of apps with an update in the past year are not 32 bit only. Out of 155 apps on my phone I only had 2 that were 32 bit; and both had no updates in over 2 years. Abandoned by the devs.

It is on the devs to update their apps; they've had a long time now to include 64 bit compatibility.

In fact I just checked and both apps no longer show up in the new app store at all. So it looks like Apple is removing them totally. Again, talk to the devs, it's on them.

Completely agree. I have about 210 apps between iPad and iPhone. One on iPad (Game of Life) and one on iPhone (I don't even remember because I beer used it) were 32bit. Hardly a nightmare scenario.

There is a learn more button on the pop up that comes up when you try to load a 32 bit app, Apple will inform people, I’m sure it will be in the final patch notes too.
