Just reading, I hope Apple delays the PB until after the next DB drops. Sounds like it has too many issues with basic tasks, and more than anything, there needs to be a reliable method of downgrading.

Until there is a reliable means of downgrading, Apple should not release a Public Beta of iOS 11.

No ability to downgrade means they should not release a Public Beta of iOS 11.
I'm fairly confident that they will not release DP2 as PB1 in its current form. Maybe an updated DP2 for PB1, but as long as the downgrade issue remains, the public testers won't get it.
[doublepost=1498237587][/doublepost]Well no PB. I guess I got 1/2 of my predictions right. lol

Let's speculate

Possibilities

Possibility 1: Apple wont release any iOS 11 beta next week . Neither PB 1 too. First week of July .

Possibility 2: Apple will release iOS 11 beta 3 next week .PB1 will also be released too.

Possibility 3: Apple will release PB1 next week . Same build as Beta 2 However, the user will have the ability to downgrade. Users of developer beta will have to wait for DP3 when this issue will be fixed. PB1 will be the same build as DP2.

How could Possibilty 3 work? Isn't the downgrade issue part of the build? So If the build number is the same, then PB users couldn't downgrade. It would require a revision. So maybe a different letter at the end but still techcnailly a different build number.

I think possibility 2 is the most likely. Then I think we will see a longer gap between beta 3->4 than was originally intended because of a rushed DP3.

Were the public testers allowed to downgrade when Beta for 10 had come out last year.
Notwithstanding, I dont think Public would be able to downgrade after 11 beta- APFS, and Other items like syncing with icloud are totally different in 11 and i dont know how can it still be made possible to downgrade.

Ok. But what about the iCloud backup formats which have changed significantly on 11.
I don't think its different than any previous year. Downgrading has pretty much always been an option, even those that were on 10.3 could downgrade to 10.2.x, even with APFS. There are two ways to downgrade. Option+Update and DFU. I think you may be thinking of the first one. Its no big deal doing Option+Update from 10.3.3 to 10.3.2. All data remains intact. But from going to 11 to 10.3.2, or 10.3 to 10.2.x (because of APFS), you need to DFU. This completely reformats the drive, so it doesn't matter what version of iOS was on it before the format.

So it doesn't really involve anything related with iCloud backup, or even iCloud sync applications, like Messages and Health. Those features won't be available on iOS 10, but it won't prevent you from using the devices like you did before upgrading. You just have to either set your phone up as new, or restore a backup that you archived prior to updating. Apple's Public Beta website outlines how to create an archived backup just incase you do want to downgrade. So the inability of downgrading from 11 -> 10.3.x is definitely a bug. A really bad bug too.

The remark apple made in the DB2 about this being the last beta with support for 32 bit apps means that the PB needs a downgrade method.

I still don't have confidence in how 32 bit apps are going to be handled, whether iOS 11 kills them or it will happen at the end of 2017.

Amazed at how many 32 bit apps have not been upgraded. A lot of devs seem to be using it as a cash opportunity. OK by me, but they need to get after it and update their apps.

iOS 11 kills them, it won't be a switch flipped near the end of the year. So as soon as you update to iOS 11, bye-bye 32bit.

Just out of curiosity -- how do you think that will go down? The apps won't launch or maybe iTunes will not sync them at all? I'm for the second since that will save me the trouble of hunting them down and deleting them.

They don't launch. I had one on my Air 2. I haven't tried syncing them.

My guess is that the current public beta (10.3.3?) will go final tomorrow and then the public beta for iOS 11 will go out on Tuesday so that they meet their late June deadline. Not sure whether there will be a 3rd beta for developers tomorrow or if they will just push dev beta 2 as the public.
