iOS 11.2.5?? What the heck?
Sounds like what's probably is going on is that there's a branch of known things that Apple watch to address in iOS 11.2 that they have already started working on probably even before 11.2 came out, and then there are things that have popped up since 11.2 release (like the HomeKit issue, for example) that they need to patch earlier and essentially separately, for which they would need a bug fix release as well. So they are likely leaving themselves some room for some patch releases like that and designating their next known planned bug fix release as 11.2.5 so they can work on that while any other potential patches can come out if needed without interfering with the version numbering. Some software developers do this kind of thing, like Oracle with Java, for example.

In a sense 11.2.5 is probably what 11.2.1 would normally be, while today's release is more like an unplanned patch that's more along the lines of 11.2.0.1, but since that's not the version numbering system that Apple uses for iOS we basically end up with something like 11.2.5.

I give up, their scheduling is so sporadic now it's almost impossible to get an accurate read on things....
Yeah, seems like they've had to be more in patch/firedrill mode these days and are trying to adjust to being in that mode. Hopefully they'll get out of it and get back to a more planned mode.

Alright, how long does it usually take to come out for the public?

Typically 3 hours (10:00 AM Pacific, 1:00 PM Pacific) on days where they’re launched simultaneously. Given the launch timing here, I’d expect tomorrow at 10 AM pacific.
It also maybe wont be a PB until a later beta. Sometimes b2 or b3 before public gets it. But for a x.x.X they could very well release one tomorrow.

This happened last year too. We got a X.x.2 beta before X.x.1 was released to the public. So now we know 3 more builds are coming shortly. Wow.
