This happened last year too. We got a X.x.2 beta before X.x.1 was released to the public. So now we know 3 more builds are coming shortly. Wow.
There's definitely room for 3 more bugfix/patch releases, but it's hard to say if they are (all) definitely coming, and how soon would those really be.

Looks like all the betas were released today. Watch, TV, iOS and firmware for HomePod. So much for the "not releasing betas on a regular release day because they never have before" theory.

It's the whole thing of history not necessarily meaning much when it comes to the future even if some patterns can hold up for a while. It's been more and more applicable this year it seems.

History shouldn't be about trying to predict the future but about understanding the differences between past and present.

Often enough it's used to find (or sometimes imagine) patterns as well.

Most definitely. iOS 11 and Apple 2017 have been full of "not the way we usually do its"

Weird that iOS 11.2.5 has a 15D build number instead of a 15C as it would correspond with a x.x.X release. The change seems to indicate that this version could have been 11.3 but they didn't want to call it that.

Yeah, seems like they've had to be more in patch/firedrill mode these days and are trying to adjust to being in that mode. Hopefully they'll get out of it and get back to a more planned mode.
So you're saying that they may have skipped several versions just in case they need to release a patch, or that there are already those releases in the works? That seems to say something about iOS 11.

More of the former than the latter.

Not necessarily:
10.2 14C92
10.2.1 14D27
10.3 14E277

Yeah they are calling it iOS 11. 2 1/2 instead. .5 short of features for a full 3 version.

@Mlrollin91 has a x.x.x beta been released ever? I thought only x.x had betas...
Many. 9.2.1, 9.3.1, 9.3.2, 9.3.3, 9.3.4, 10.2.1, 10.3.1, 10.3.2, 10.3.3. Just off the top of my head.

The same thing can be said for any theory after there is something different that comes to light. For any theory, for any subject matter.

Is it possible there is no 11.3 and Apple intends to finish ios 11 in 11.2 itself?

I give up, their scheduling is so sporadic now it's almost impossible to get an accurate read on things....

I hope you still chime in to give us a helpful read on when updates launch. I don’t care about slight in accuracies. Keep it up bud

Or maybe ios 11 is just badly optimised like GTA 4 from 2008 that it needs a patchfest to fix.

My basic question- why 11.2.2 beta did not come out, and instead 11.2.5 beta was out?
What is the significance.
