Sure, it’s just people in this thread are pointing out they got the update, so asking how big it is makes sense in this thread as well. As for talk about new features and battery life, I agree with you
A thread has been established to discuss the particular update, so what's the issue with linking to it so that people can discuss the update there? Or is this being nitpicky about it mostly just for the sake of it?

Ah never mind, I see you just like to keep threads organized. I’ll leave you alone now

Re „Month 13 issue“:

To ship the patch for the betas first makes total sense. If everything works properly expect an emergency fix for later this week for all OS...
Are you saying that was supposed to be patched? The beta thread is saying it isn't in 11.2.5 b2.

Not sure what you are saying? It’s not fixed in beta 2. Maybe a beta 3 along with an 11.2.2 public release on Friday.

Is this public release set in stone for Friday?
Oh not at all. I’m just speculating as it sounds like this could be a big problem come January. And if they already have found a stable fix for it, why wouldn’t they include that in beta 2? That’s why I think maybe they are finalizing the fix for public release along with adding it to the beta train on Friday.

Possibly maybe the fix will come in a later beta after the public release this week

Certainly possible, I just doubt Apple will drop a beta during the Christmas week as January comes the Monday after Christmas.

It's still possible after 27th when Apple will resume accepting new app updates. We will never know until that week since it's not unusual they drop beta on Thursday or Friday. Apple may still have a few tricks up its sleeve since they did skim over 3 build to this beta whether one drop this week or next week or maybe before half way between this current beta cycle? Who knows. iOS 11 beta cycle is pretty unique that I thought they messed up

If month 13 is going to trigger and partially render devices unusable, ideally they'd want the update as soon as possible since not everyone updates right away.

That makes since IF in fact it does cause issues. I guess potentially its just generating those errors, of course indicating something wrong, but maybe not anything catastrophic. Who knows but I suspect/guess there will be another release this week for the release channel at least and maybe beta if in fact that month 13 issue will cause major issues.

The springboard crashes on December 1st/2nd were definitely caused by the Month 13 issue. It also affects the macOS system as it can make the system unusable.

I meant: It made sense that a change firstly made in the beta tree makes total sense as you see whether the change works (which is obviously not the case) and/or cause different issues. If you send out a non working patch to a release version you have twice the work.

The beta testers are more willing to update their betas than "normal" users. It is pretty annoying for non tech savvy people to update their phone every few days.

So sounds like perhaps they need to get on it then. :) Also surely they can see these errors in console in-house and know whether or not its fixed without relying on developers/beta testers. I would guess that once they pinpoint it and stop the error, THEN they send a new version out for further testing.

Before Christmas?
Well Thursdays are a common release day so maybe tomorrow. But being this close to a holiday could factor in. Maybe 11.2.5 will release since it seems there is not a lot being reported as issues in the beta thread and it was pushed to devs yesterday and public today. Although its also being reported that the Month 13 issue has still not been fixed in 11.2.5 either. So who knows what Apple has in mind.

isnt apple on vacation all next week? so they would have to push out an update before then because when they come back its technically january and this bug might crash phones on the 1st of january.

One would think that to be the case. So I am thinking maybe we will see an 11.2.2 tomorrow. Just weird that 11.2.5 doesn't have the fix and is at a beta 2 now.

Why the heck dont they work in christmas time? They have ********s of money, a messy iOS 11 and an issue with slowed down old devices.

Here in germany most companies are working over holidays. And i dont earn that much like an Apple engineer.

Instead they are already thinking and talking about iOS 12, cant believe it.

We need a bugfix-iOS 11.3 ASAP.

Did you say you had friends that worked at Apple?

Apple started working on iOS 12 before iOS 11 was even announced. It takes more than a few months to create a new version of iOS.

I ageee that iOS 11 needs some serious bug fixing and system optimizations, hopefully we see an update roll out sooner than later, Do you guys think we might see a public release today or tomorrow?
