Apple always runs external betas of major releases (X.0.0) and also for large updates (0.X.0), but isn't always consistent with the smaller updates (0.0.X). It's odd 11.2.5 is receiving external beta treatment, but we never saw one for 11.2.1, or even prior smaller updates. This means Apple could be skipping 11.2.2 - 11.2.4, or we will see these drop over the next few weeks before 11.2.5. If we see 11.2.2 - 11.2.4, I wonder what they fix (since this means Apple was aware of them being required to deploy, prior to early December), and why they didn't command their own external beta.

I am starting to think there is no 11.3. 11.2.5 will keep getting more betas. Apple doesn't have any headline feature for 11.3.

I'm pretty sure Messages in the Cloud is not going to be a thing, at least in iOS 11. Something must have happened that caused them to pull it.

I don't think they'll completely scrap the feature; it's too important of a feature to let die and a lot of people were looking forward to this.

When it was available in the early betas of iOS 11 and I enabled it, it wreaked havoc on my messages across devices. So my guess is that they're trying to find the best way of dealing with multiple devices that already receive iMessages and sync'd SMS messages and which devices becomes the authoritative device when the feature is first enabled.

The "something that happened" is called iOS 11 :) HA well they talked about it and so I wouldn't think it is totally out/scrapped but maybe WAY down the road. But I still think there will be an iOS 11.3 and certainly the battery detail info will be added. That could be added to 11.2.5 as they added the siri news deal so who knows anymore. What other headline (if not iCloud messages) for 11.3 I have no idea.

And iOS 9.3 beta 1 came out on January 12th, so any time after 11.2.5 comes out could be possible for 11.3.

The beta process for iOS 11.2.5 confirm new imminent launch of Apple Pay in several countries for Apple Pay. With that being said, I don't see a final release earlier than CW3.

As discussed earlier Apple wanted to have some space between iOS 11.2.1 and iOS 11.2.5 for in between releases.

I suspect for Safari portion of that (Spectre). They claim the Meltdown was already mitigated in iOS 11.2 and "new safari updates coming soon".

And maybe they also needed an update to suppress that Month 13 issue.. :)
