Good point. Seeing as they were aware of these vulnerabilities back when 11.2.5 beta 1 was released in 2017, they probably knew to leave .2, .3 and .4 to address vulnerabilities and other security related fixes.

iOS 11.2.2 with the Spectre fix and probably the next beta for iOS 11.2.5 on Tuesday.

You know it’s a very minor fix. Whatever is in this update has most likely already been out in iOS 11.2.5 beta 3 minus the spectre fix. And people are having problems with 11.2.5, so we are likely to get those issues. Hardly something to be excited about.
Hopefully the things that people might be having issues with in 11.2.5 are related to something else that's new/different there and not something more specific and recent related to Spectre or something similar.

My guess would be iOS 11.2.2 with the Spectre fix today as it is more important than another beta..
The beta process for iOS 11.2.5 confirm new imminent launch of Apple Pay in several countries for Apple Pay. With that being said, I don't see a final release earlier than CW3.
As discussed earlier Apple wanted to have some space between iOS 11.2.1 and iOS 11.2.5 for in between releases.
And maybe they also needed an update to suppress that Month 13 issue..
What is CW3? (I'm sure when you tell me it'll be a DOH! moment)
