Yup, just downgrade to 11.2.2 just fine via iTunes and the ISPW file. Thanks guys!

Do you lose anything on the phone this way, or everything stay intact?
What exactly are the steps? Go into iTunes and hold the shift key and hit an update button? (only ever done OTA before, sorry!)

Correct, download the 11.2.2 IPSW file > iTunes > hold Shift + click Check for Update > find the IPSW file and update.

I didn’t lose a thing and everything went smoothly.

Awesome! Thanks so much for the help! I will try this after work. I've had so many issues with my iPhone X on the current beta, I just don't want to deal with it anymore. Maybe I'll get back on the beta train for 11.3 :D

Yeah honestly the betas aren’t worth it atm, nothing New and better to stick with an official release for now.

What if I’m on Beta 11.2.5 and also the most recent Beta for my Apple Watch, if I downgrade to the official 11.2.2 via iTunes will my Apple Watch still connect and work as usual or will I have to downgrade my Apple Watch off the Beta first prior to downgrading my iPhone via iTunes?

The current 11.2.5 build number probably means it’s the second to last, right? They usually just drop the “a”, then release the final version after.
Not quite. The 'a' at the end depicts the version of THAT particular build. So there may be b,c,d etc on the end of a 1505 build for example. The '5' after the initial build is what will go away along with the letter at the end. As example:
15A5372a 11.0 beta 10 went to 15C372 for the release version. (dropping the 5 and a)

Stupid question since I haven’t done this in awhile, can I just downgrade straight from 11.2.5 to 11.2.2? Just can’t stand this extremely loud keyboard and notification sound anymore, hate to be on vibrate mode all the time.
You can actually use shift update and go back to either 11.2.2 or 11.2.5 beta 2 if you download the IPSW file first. Beta 2 didn't have those sound issues. But I suspect beta 4 will drop tomorrow if not at 1:00 PST today

can i go from 11.2.5 back to this without wiping my phone?
Yes see above post.

Let us know if there’s a difference between the release and the latest beta.

It would be interesting to get your feedback.

Thanks!

Well iCloud backup doesn’t work anymore, keeps complaining the previous backup is from a newer version. Well duh, that’s why I’m trying to make a new backup!

You can do the same if you just want to go back to beta 2 (without the beta 3 issues) if you prefer to stick on beta. But I went back to release as well on iPhone. Will just test these betas on less critical iPad for now.

Yeah you have to delete the 'newer' backup first. :)

Just installed 11.2.2 on my iPhone X, is this purely a security update or are there and performance improvements/bug fixes?

Most likely just security, maybe a couple bug fixes.

Here are my Geekbench scores on my 8 Plus.

I was experincing a really annoying UI bug in 11.2 that made the icons in the notch area on my iPhone X disappear i hope its fixed in this new 11.2.2 release.

i know we just got 11.2.2 yesterday but when do you think we will see public release of 11.2.5?

not for a couple weeks now because 11.2.2 just came out?

im ready for a performance improvement and bug fix release not just a security one...

Given some issues people are seeing with the recent 11.2.5 betas, it seems like it would be better to wait to make sure things are in fact at least no worse with it (and hopefully actually better). Keep in mind it's still a bug fix release so not that much might really change.

At this point, don't count on 11.2.5 for much, feature-wise. Ok, ok...Siri will now read the news to you from a limited number of sources. But that's pretty much it. 11.3 may bring some new features (the X.3 releases always seem to). But aside from that, its that long dryspell from now until WWDC in June before we see anything remarkably new, in my opinion.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a new beta today...
Me too.

A side form bug fixing, iOS 11.2.5 will be interesting to a small subset of iOS user (e.g. new Apple Pay countries, HomePod customer (AirPlay 2))

Beyond stability and speed and airplay 2, all I want from Apple for the spring is to clean up house with all of the bugs.

I do almost have to imagine or hope that 11 is a temporary hold for iPhone until 12 which I'm hoping does something interesting on X.

Same, IOS 12 needs to have some serious enhancements. With Ive saying X will see multiple changes, one would assume IOS 12 is what he's referring to in terms of the future of X. And that is why, while I'm not using X as my daily driver, I'm still excited to see what IOS 12 can do to make proper changes to enhance the user experience. Same interface is getting super boring these days, they need to make some sweeping changes and take software seriously. And I'd say with some of the fixes they are pumping out, they are finally getting back on track. Though some might look at it the other way.

You‘ll never find a 100% bug free software. Though, Apple’s software quality has never been that worse for years.

It is only a question of how many new features Apple plans to add to iOS 12. I personally wish Apple changes the focus on a bug fixing release than adding fancy new features. On the other hand: Apple currently thinks, you cannot sell products without new features.
