Why? As I just mentioned in another thread. They just download the Beta profile, install the beta then restore from a backup. Apple have worked on the new iPad a lot longer than 11.3. So the two will be ok to work together and apple just need to add the device to list of supported devices.

He's saying that if the iPad was on 11.2.6 then someone who has an 11.3 beta backup couldn't restore. Which is the correct way round. But they would just install the beta first as I mentioned above.
But they can because they already released 11.3 for the new iPad yesterday. Releasing it today for other devices is unrelated.

There is no beta - thats the issue. As I just replied to your other post. Apple never released the beta for the X or the new iPad. So how can one install it?

This shows how stupid Apple are at present then. It's a damn sight easier to add a code in to the existing software, knowing full well when they plan to release the device, which allows that device to download the beta. Than produce a separate beta for that device.

I'm not entirely following here. Haven't we determined that 11.3 was the final for the new iPad, and when 11.3 launches today for everything else, its all fine.

The issue that may be getting lost is what happened with the X. The X shipped with 11.0.3, not 11.1, so there was no way to get the X to 11.1 on the first day. Apple corrected that day 2.

It isn't according to any of my devices or dev acct.
Why would dev account show a public release?

You are misunderstanding my post.

If they hadn't released 11.3 for the new iPad. Anyone on the beta with a 11.3 beta backup could not restore to a device with 11.2.6 on. However all Apple had to do was add the device to the current beta software. Not issue a separate build

You are still not following. They didn't issue a separate build. They released the final build that is on the iPad currently. This is completely different than with the X. This is the opposite.

It always shows beta and public releases. Having just refreshed the page it is now there.

I think you misunderstood my first reply which was to Broken Hope saying it makes sense that Apple releases 11.3 today to prevent what we are discussing. Since they already released it yesterday for the new iPad, that problem was already solved and releasing it today for other devices didn’t matter.

It is showing on all my non-devbeta devices. So it seems like the OTA is not triggering on beta devices? So is it the same or not? Same goes with watchOS for me.
