Yes definitely I agree. But the problem is it doesn't just stop at the calculator. There are constant areas where the text just does not render correctly or align with what it should be aligned with. It just seems like a huge step back. I have had many issues on iPad of opening up iMessage only to see that I cannot type a response to a text unless I force close the app and reopen it. Small but annoying problems like this are everywhere in iOS. I'm hoping they release a fix very quickly. I can't say that I love using my iPad right now. Things just aren't working like they should. I am going to do a full restore and see if that helps.

Sounds frustrating. I hope a restore helps improve things for you.

Just tried this, and you're right -- it's like the "+" button slowly "fades" from white (activated) back to orange (idle); and if you hit it again while it's "fading," it won't register.

Input blocking on an animation for button. In a calculator. GG Apple

The more I use it the more I’m starting to think this will go down as the wth did I get in exchange for having to re learn a lot of previously simple actions update... certainly on iPhone, iPad is at least potentially worth the trade off depending on if you need the files app and how much you try to juggle in split view...

What do you think apple do to resolve "dragging the app" part to be more intuitive?

For multiple select and drag-drop, what do suggest apple should to be user friendly?

Could elaborate more on single page widget?

What is wrong with app and how could apple improve it?
[doublepost=1506000124][/doublepost]
What kind of bugs are you facing other than what you mentioned and how can apple improve on it?

I think there should only be one app dragging function. Right now there are two: One to drag an icon to the dock and to drag an app into split view, the second is the older method of dragging an app to another page on the home screen or into folders. The behaviour makes no sense and the functions should be combined.

For the multi-select thing, perhaps after you have selected your first item, some sort of visual indicator on items that can also be selected?

RE: The single page for widgets. iOS10 for iPad used to split the widgets into two side by side panes. You could customise the layout to suit your needs. E.G. My left side had Weather, Calender and Reminds, my right panel had system stats like WiFi Data, CPU, Storage, etc... Now in iOS11, you have one centred panel only, with lots of wasted space either side. All widgets now appear in one long list that you have to scroll though.

The AppStore is now more difficult and tedious to navigate due to all wasted space and useless graphics. It feels like one big banner ad.

There is only one drag mode now though, isn’t there? In earlier betas you could long-ish press to do the multitasking drag. In this mode dragging one icon over another caused the lower one to open while you still had the dragged one in hand, which you could then drop in to multitask. A looonger press turned on “wiggle mode”. In that you could delete apps and dragging one icon over another created a folder. Is that what you’re asking for? Two distinct drag modes? While I don’t feel that strongly about it I quite liked the distinction, and the extra way to do split/slideover.

Loving it on my iPad Pro.

Yesterday I was reading the news in 2/3 of the screen whilst picking up tweets in the other third. There was a tweet with a link to a website which opened up in the 1/3 slice so I dragged it out until the news reader was 1/3 and the tweet/web page 2/3 (couldn’t do that before). Whilst reading the website I wanted to look something up so I opened up Safari in a third window. When I finished I went back to the original set-up and carried on. It was great. :)

I’m asking for one mode of dragging app icons. Right now, to rearrange the icons on your home screen you must enter “wiggle mode”. Despite the appearance of being able to drag icons around the place by just holding your finger on the icon and moving it around, which is actually just for multi-tasking and moving apps to the dock. So for example, a user might want to move the Clock app to be in the middle of their second row of apps. They press and hold on the app icon, and it lifts off the home screen and follows their finger around - the app is moving with their finger - they try to move it to the position they want it to remain, but instead of the other app icons moving to accomodate the selected Clock app, nothing happens at all, the user takes their finger off the screen and the Clock app just snaps back to its original location. Silly user, they should have known they have to long press on the app and enter wiggle mode to be able to re-position the app. It’s not intuitive at all.

So since updating I’ve had two issues..
1) Two or three times the lock screen has stopped showing the time or notifications. I’ve had to reboot the phone to get this to be fixed. Anyone else had this issue?

2) Battery drain- as many others have pointed out, it drains way quicker than when I had iOS 10.

I can’t reproduce that in the GM. What you are describing is how it worked for me in DP8 or DP9 (I’m not sure which it changed in) but the shorter press allows me to move icons around, on the home screen, within folder and in and out of folders. I just tried to make sure.

Drag and drop feels natural in that split screen setup too. See a link in the other app you want to post in a comment in Safari? Pick it up and drop right in the comment box. Boom! Done.

That’s odd. So you’re saying you can move app icon placement, including in/out of folders, with the same short press drag that you also use for multitasking?

I didn’t use any of the betas and didn’t follow the discussion surrounding them so I’m not sure of how this feature has changed with each iteration, have only described how it’s working for me.

It sounds like the way it’s working for you is the actual intended behaviour, which is good news. I’ll screen capture what I’m seeing when I get back home, and restart the iPad and try it again. Hopefully just a bug.

Thanks for the info.

Yep. Though I did actually have a preference for the loooong press is layout management and long press is multi-tasking stuff that was there earlier.

No problem. Maybe we can work out what’s going on. Later.

I've had all kinds of problems with IOS 11.

1) Lock screen randomly got stuck showing the music player, when the app was closed. A reboot was required to fix it.

2) Lock screen randomly stopped showing the time

3) The calendar isn't indexing all of my items. Though, when I search through spotlight they are there. I click on the item that says "show in calendar" and it brings up the search, the items aren't there! (This is on two different phones BTW)

4) Apple music is about the worst experience I've ever had with an app. Your music shuffles automatically, and when you hit the shuffle button, it shuffles your music again (With no "button" animation to tell if you hit the button or not). In order to turn off the shuffle, you have to click on the album, then unclick the EXACT SAME shuffle button, which unbolds the button and now the tracks play normally. This is two different uses for the same button and is a UI nightmare. You can't buy music in Itunes anymore, you have to go to the Music store, which was the same icon as the Macy's app. It's so weird that you can't buy music in Itunes, but you have to go to the store. It doesn't make any sense.

5) When playing music, the volume changes when you open up an app. Like, you can't even control it. If I am listening to Music, and I decide to open an app, the volume changes and when I look at the control center, the volume still indicates the same as before. When I check the app settings, the app Music is turned off. So there is no reasonable reason why the volume should change when I switch apps. Another apple mistake.

--------

These are just a few of the issues that I've noticed in IOS 11 after less than a day of use. I think Apple really botched this one. After reading about all of the UI discrepancies, I don't have a lot of faith in them buckling down and fixing all of these issues. It feels like they have gotten too big and are resting on their laurels. These are things that should have been easily addressed in the betas.

I have not seen a single change for the better versus previous iOS.

All of the design choices are terrible and i really do not know what to think.

Apple is putting out garbage software. I love apple but this is all bad.

Indeed. I have no idea what's driving their decisions. It's appears to be change for change's sake, but a lot of the design changes make things worse in ways that should be obvious.

Here’s a little oddity: the toggle for Reading Mode in Safari is on the left side of the URL bar, same as always; but in the “in-app” browser, it’s moved to the right side... inconsistent, and more of thumb stretch for me (a righty who holds phone in my left hand).

Btw – making the attachments was my first experience w/the new screenshot editor; it’s awesome!
[doublepost=1506052420][/doublepost]A few more notes:

  • Zipping around iOS 11 feels noticeably faster on my 7+ than iOS 10. Wasn’t expecting that! There are also more animated transitions, even with “reduce motion” on (as always)... wonder what it’s like with “reduce motion” off!
  • Banner notifications seem less white/opaque than before – a text came in while I was browsing a page with a dark background, and it was hard to read the banner. Maybe “reduce transparency” would fix that (but I don’t usually mind the transparency effects otherwise).
  • I kind of like the new number keypad, with the rectangular keys. It’s not pretty, but feels more “satisfying” to use.
  • It’s hard getting used to the lockscreen and Notification Ctr looking exactly the same. Sometimes I forget which one I’m looking at, and try the “wrong” action to clear it. The lockscreen even has a quick “retracting” animation when you unlock the phone, as if it were swiped up; but you can’t really swipe it up. And the NC now says “Press home to open”; which at least you CAN actually do.
  • As I type this, the page doesn’t scroll up when I reach the bottom of the screen; I need to manually scroll. Seems like a Safari bug?

Could you elaborate more about the ui?

It's like they have 5 teams designing the UI and none of them got together to make sure all the elements they've designed match. Little things like the bold headers, the change in making the app icons darker, text is more black with no opacity.

Just a host of UI changes that were not needed and for me has detracted from what was a pretty nice design.

Moreover, I've just discovered today that I cannot hard press and swipe on the left of the screen to return to the previous app.

You suck, Apple!

So it’s been what, three days? And the battery drain issue is still huge. I was at 100% two hours ago and I’m now at at 74%

I am loving it. I was a little nervous because I have an SE, but it has been very speedy, maybe even faster than ios10. Big changes for me is having an alarm in control center and the volume indicator in safari. The needs to be expanded to every part of the phone though.

I love it, anyhow i will downgrade now and wait until Apple has fixed the battery drain. My battery lasts only half of the time it did under 10.3.3. So i wait for the first update for 11 and until then i go back to 10 now.

Its awful. It lags on my iPhone 7 Plus and feels overall like a sluggish experience. I've tried turning off animations and it feels better, but still not ideal.

Hate it with a passion. Feels like they've released something that's in Alpha let alone Beta.

Terrible performance, contrasting styles/animations, and removal of key features.

Sort it out Apple

Removal of key features?

Reachability or 3d touching for multitasking.

But yes I have a 7 and I don't mind 11. I do prefer 10, but 11 has been a little buggy for me with apps crashing and what not.
Reachability is still there. 3D Touch shortcut has been removed temporarily it seems, although that's a shortcut that has been removed while the feature of multitasking is still there and is still accessible.

Can no longer pull down the NC via Reachability... :/
