Yes! It started in 12.1.1 for me, driving me crazy. My Apple Watch falls back to WiFi or cellular when the iPhone is locked, even when it’s in my pocket. Same with a Bluetooth connected sleep monitor, when my phone is charging overnight, it won’t maintain a connection and thus won’t track my sleep. AirPods seem fine but maybe because it’s keeping the BT connection alive while streaming. My watch battery is abysmal with the fallback from BT

(And reported multiple times)

Same since 12.1.1.

I don’t think the Bluetooth is falling asleep cause I’d be on a phone call with my AirPods and they would be ok. Then once I take a few steps away from my phone. My Apple Watch falls back to WiFi.

Yea I’ve noticed decreased battery life as well.

I also got a Ninebot scooter that connects to its app via Bluetooth. Once I’m two steps away from it the scooter disconnects from the app. Yet my Android phone, iPad all got strong connections to it all the way to the next room or kitchen. The app also shows the connection strength before connecting.

LTE on AT&T on XR is noticeably better with this beta. I now have a solid 3 bars in the office where I used to have 1 or 2.
I have noticed that too. I am with AT&T, at my place, it has been single bar on the signal strength until this beta, now it's three bars. However, I have not noticed any speed difference with LTE connection. I don't have any means to actually measuring signal strength. Display could be a software change just to using different scale settings for display purpose. Hopefully that is not Apple's way to fix any knowing issue.....

Might be placebo, but this beta has been the best version thus far. Battery life seems much more stable and LTE on AT&T/iPhone X.

Only thing is the dang swipe up/keyboard bug still remains, but other than that pretty solid.

Phone: XS Verizon USA 12.1.2.B1

I don't seem to be having the Apple Watch issues that folks seem to be. I have a series 4. Watch always seems to be connect to my phone versus WiFi. I was not getting notifications with 12.1.1. I am now on 12.1.2.B1.

Speaking of WiFi though ... Wifi range seems to be crazy longer.

I do struggle with bluetooth headsets (non-Apple). The headsets however are tied to both say my PC and phone, so I don't know if it is the headset or the phone ... or both. Ultimately I need to unpair the headset from my PC (remove the dongle perhaps?) and see if that improves it to help narrow the culprit. I had this problem however with 12.1.1 too.

LTE is better for me ... I have to say it ... equal or better than my i7 Qualcomm. I have some tests where download is just crazy insane fast ... but upload is extremely pathetic ... I do the same test on my i7 though and it essentially does the same thing (fast download - not near as fast as XS - extremely pathetic upload).

Fringe areas seem to be better for me too ... I have one spot in my office where my i7 would even drop to 3G. Prior in the same spot my XS would just give up ... now ... gasp ... it went to 3G ... and worked even!

Considering I upgraded from an i7 ... that fact that I am getting equal or better from an LTE perspective ... its a win for me.

Good luck all ...

XS on AT&T here.

This beta has had the best upload speeds for me on LTE so far. Have gotten about 20 Mbps up across a few tests. I try to test from same place, at about same time of day.

However, download speeds haven’t been anything to write home about. On a few betas, was hitting in the 40s. Have consistently gotten about 19 down on this beta.

Haven’t had a good chance to test the phone in a few locations that I know have been problems for it.

Edit: Not saying the modem firmware is fixed, but am suggesting they may have finally made some progress.

An volunteers willing to assist in testing all the previous bugs?

Remaining Issues
  • After upgrading to iOS 12.1.1 beta, you might be unable to select the voice used for VoiceOver and other Speech products
  • Lock screen orientation glitch in the Control Center: If you have screen orientation lock enabled, and then change the state of "Increase Contrast" in Settings, for example enable it, your lock orientation icon will be fully white instead of red. Video: Here
  • Lock screen lock disappears: Swipe on the lockscreen for a few times, after some time, your lock status will disappear. Video: Here. If you happen to reproduce it while your phone is unlocking, you will get something like this, the notifications will get glitched.
  • Some apps like Google Maps and Clash Royale will lag on iPhone X and above: Open the affected app, for example Google Maps. Do not do anything else, just minimize your brightness to the lowest. Now, you will see the app's FPS number has been drastically decreased, try to do circles in the map, you will see it is laggy. To make it smooth again, you can: A) Start screen recording or B) Increase brightness.
  • Folder in Dock bug - swipe to widgets and then back to home screen: it will blink. Video: Here
  • Signal bars not updating on in car infotainment using either Bluetooth or CarPlay unless phone screen is on (XS and XS Max only, since iOS 12.0).
Notification bugs:
  • Grouped notifications glitch - Expand, collapse and then expand again a grouped notification quickly, it will have a glitchy animation with DND. Video: Here
  • Notification Center bug: If you have a grouped notification in the notification center, make sure to delete till you have only one, then click the X next to the app and not the one next to "Notification Center". It will result in a glitch - Video: Here
  • Notification center missing background: Lock and unlock your phone. Then open an app, and quickly pull down the notification center. It won't have background for a few seconds.
  • If you have enough notifications to hide the time, then scroll down-up few times, the notifications will get glitched with the time. After you collapse the notifications, there will be a glitchy animation. Video: Here
  • On an iPhone X, XS, and XS Max, if your home screen have multiple pages, go to a different page other than main, then swipe up to get to your main page. After you quickly want to open anything in the Dock, you can't, you need to wait a few seconds to be able to do it. Video: Here
  • Lock screen time & lock status glitch: using your locked iPhone, swipe from right to left two times quickly. For the second swipe, your time and lock status will disappear. Video: Here
  • Landscape mode control center bug: Open anything in landscape mode, for example a YouTube video in full screen. Open your Control Center, swipe from right to left, then close CC. There will be a stuck bar at the top of your screen for a few seconds. Video: Here
  • App crash bug: Open the app switcher. Tap on an app, swipe it up to close, but while its closing tap on it - > glitchy crash. Video: Here
  • Adding the first widget in the available widgets list will have a glitchy animation. Video: Here
  • Safari: "add to home screen" - when there is just one home screen, it does not show the recently added icon. It does create a 2nd home screen page but when you swipe left the icon is missing. After a reboot or waiting for several minutes, the icon may appear.
  • Since iOS 11.4 still can’t initiate ‘album’ playback via Siri on the watch with music that is locally stored on phone.
  • When iCloud Keychain and text replacements are enabled, text replacement won’t be offered anymore when trying to login. The specific text replacement is overwritten with “Password”.
  • iMessage app sort order resets after a period of time from custom order to default order.
  • In Messages: using 3D Touch to Peak and Pop, or when rotating the screen orientation turns the iMessage app strip black (iPhone 7 only)
  • Sometimes, if you have no SIM inserted, you will see an old time to appear at the top of the screen. Video: Here
  • Opening app switcher in landscape mode will sometimes show old stuff that you did with the app before. Video: Here
  • On the home screen, scrolling to the second page, swiping up then holding the screen will cause the second page to disappear. Video: Here
  • Lockscreen blocking bug: Get to the passcode request page, then swipe up and down while not releasing the screen - this will cause the first line (1, 2, 3) to be unresponsive. Video: Here (I typed 1 to show that it was working)

I’m trying to decide from this thread if I should jump onto the beta or not...the only issue I have now on my XS Max is very unreliable WiFi

WiFi is better. Bluetooth is weaker than usual. Apple Watch can’t stay connected after I leave my room. XS Max.
Also other Bluetooth devices don’t seem to stay connected after a short distance away.

Finally i am not the only one with this issue, the beta 1 of 12.1.2 , resolved this issue for you? ( not for me :( ) if you find some solution please let me know, ( iam based in chile so i cant go to apple store )

I've been having the same issues with Bluetooth on my XS Max (512) since 12.1. My Series 4, Beats headphones, and even some random BT devices all seem to disconnect if I move more than a foot away. I was hoping that 12.1.1 was going to fix it, but I haven't noticed any changes. I grabbed a coworker's iPhone XS Max, upgraded it to 12.1.1. and it didn't have any of the issues I was having with Bluetooth. Her device showed roughly 10-15 Bluetooth devices in the area compared to my 3 or 4 with the HomeScan app. The only difference between our devices is that one is 64 GBs and one is 512 GBs, both are the AT&T models. I think this is the biggest head scratcher to me. Why would 2 GSM models perform differently unless they have different chips?

The HomeScan app shows a BT signal of bad -106 from my Apple Watch when I straighten both arms out away from each other. I've seen it reach a fair -70 signal and that's if my devices are roughly 4-6 inches from each other. I'm hoping that 12.1.2 eventually fixes it before the public release.

I think maybe is a hardware problem, from the manufactory

Nope not fixed yet. Glad I’m not alone. Didn’t have the issue with iOS 12 itself.

Bug still exists, have been having this problem since the final version iOS 12.0
Been reporting it in every beta since but still not been fixed

I considered that, but I didn’t have any issues with the XS Max and Series 4 until I installed 12.1 Those two and all other BT devices had zero issues with iOS 12 and 12.0.1. With 12.1, my car audio via BT started cutting out and a device I used to use daily began disconnecting when only 6-12 inches from my iPhone.

I even tried restoring as new via iTunes, used a different Apple ID to download some apps, and still ran into issues with 12.1.1.

Lol this is why I asked here first. I wouldn’t have gone through all of that when I know it’s software.

Thread has me scared to install it. May just stay on current build until something nice is released in a beta. Phone is running too good to mess with it.

What did you actually read in this thread regarding issues with this beta? I haven't seen any negative reports so far.

I installed it and all is good for now on my XS Max. Fingers crossed.

This is so stupid!!! My old 7 plus phone gets higher speeds on 4 G LTE!!! I paid $1300 for a phone and the speed sucks? On the latest Beta and still an issue it’s ! So I have to use my WiFi fiber network 1GB internet to enjoy my phone u know! Just edging sucks when u spend that much on the phone and it’s. It fast compared to an old noz

What bugs did you report?

One was related to an application, and the other related to a slow and jittery app switcher that didn't exist in 12.1.1, where it seemed to be speedy, ultra smooth and more or less perfect.

Nothing earth shattering, nothing that would make me want to roll back.

My connectivity with both WiFi and LTE is great. :)

Great WiFi and LTE as better than 12.1.1?

Notifications are super buggy to me.

When clearing a stack using clear all. You see a random graphical error. Also it sometimes doesn’t clear on the first swipe.

Notifications don’t clear when checking them. Not consistently. For example Discord or Messenger.

After opening the app and checking the messages. It’s still on the notifications tray.
