No, that’s not a correct answer. Charging is not affected by those settings at all.

Try to restart your phone and see if that solves the problem. If not, contact Apple.
Do you have a link to support that? I've heard both sides of this argument but haven't seen a link. Which explains my "somewhat". I don't think you can assume that a charging device is not considered an accessory just because its functionality is very limited. Chargers are listed on apples web store under "accessories".

You’re both right. Apple says in some instances it may not charge. I believe if it’s an Apple charger, or MFi charger, that it will still charge.

Thanks for the link.

EDIT (I'm changing my response to that link)

I've read that link multiple times. While I initially believed it supported my own original position, I now believe it more closely supports the claim by CyberVisitor and that simple power adapters should not be affected by that setting.

Something I do every release .x or greater ... usually. Open Apple Maps and play with it. Has it improved from the previous release...

12.1 on 8+. Still an issue: map for my area is wrong, incomplete, and outdated. Have submitted corrections over the last two years. No change. Maybe someday. No change from 12.0 to 12.1. Actually no change since 11.0

Biggest issue: When I open my location in Google Maps, the blue dot is quite accurate and very stable. Minimal movement. Apple Maps ... looks like I am jogging around my neighborhood. Never stops moving. It registers to actual location within 100 feet. Pretty poor. Has a decent GPS signal (used GPSdiagnostics to check), great wifi, and good LTE.

Someyear.

Apple has said that their entire map infrastructure has been replaced with the newest map version, BUT they are rolling that new infrastructure out gradually, after starting in the San Francisco Bay Area. The biggest gain in the new sub system is the ability to update the maps quickly in response to user reports of map data errors. They mentioned hours rather than months.

Keep the faith, and please continue reporting the map data bugs. It’s very possible that the hopping around of the blue dot that you see is being caused by errors in map data. That’s what would happen if the data were wrong, and the roads were in the wrong place, as apple continues snapping your location to the nearest road in their faulty data.

I could see that. I keep reporting the errors / bugs.

Technically that statement is referring to accessories (Like laptop usb port or some other accessory) not the Apple supplied USB charger.

"Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch charges as usual when it’s connected to a USB power adapter."

Thanks for the link.

Just for the record, that Apple link fully supports my statement that
when attempting to charge your phone when

(1) your device has been locked for more than an hour AND
(2) when the USB accessories setting is OFF

it's somewhat expected that the phone will not charge.

And the link refutes claims saying:
(1) the setting is not relevant to those charging problems, and
(2) that there must be a phone or software bug under such circumstances.

The big takeaway here is that Apple explicitly confirms that "settings > FaceID & passcode > USB accessories ON" is the first thing to try when having problems charging from sleep mode. As I’ve been saying.

(For older phones, look for TouchID & Passcode)

This is a bit annoying, actually. We should be able to benefit from the USB security without having to give up charging while locked.

If power is available, the phone should charge, period. Even if it only charges at 500ma (the minimum amount of power you can expect from a USB port) at least it's something. I even have a smart speaker that has USB charging ports, but I have to unlock the phone to charge with them because the ports are also used for firmware updates, so they are real USB ports and not just charging ports.

Just suck down 500ma, damnit, and renegotiate for higher current if and when the phone is unlocked.

I believe you're right. Thanks to your post I reread that link and have changed my post in response to it.

First week was great, except in the last few days I am having to reboot my 7+ every other day due to no sounds for notifications. A reboot fixes it.

Man I cant be the only one experiencing this bug , when listening to music or watching videos when a notification comes the volume goes down and stays like that til another notification comes again

You are aware that Apple is in the process of rolling out “home-grown” imagery, correct? Right now it’s limited to Northern California and extreme southern Oregon, but it’s supposed to be rolled out across the US in the near future. The northern CA stuff is much more detailed, the result of the Apple mapping vans criss-crossing the state. I think we can look forward to the same when it rolls out more generally.

Quite aware. That said I had expected AM would have better location accuracy and slowly updated / corrected “normal” maps. That has not been the case even with bug reports and sent corrections. My area has not changed in the last 3 upgrades. The location “blue dot” has not improved either. It’s not like I live in the middle of no-where. ;)

On my iPhone X sometimes the battery info (settings->battery) doesnt load and i only see the "loading animation". After a few trys it will load.
On iOS 12.0x this bug doesnt exist.

I’ve had this bug all along on iOS 12 and continues with 12.1 on my 7. In order to get it to load I need to keep force closing settings and trying again until it works. Sometimes I open the screen time tab first then it seems to usually work but not always. Super annoying.
[doublepost=1541685368][/doublepost]Also still having the same bugs with the iPhone not reporting how much system storage it’s using under iPhone storage.

And my alarm clock icon not showing up in the status bar when turning on an alarm. Or if an alarm has been on for some time turning it off and the icon won’t go away. Thought they would’ve fixed these by now. Guess not. At least I haven’t been losing LTE connection anymore.

Terrible battery drain with iOS 12.1 on my Xs :-(

Same. I could literally turn my screen on and watch the battery just start dropping percentages...even in low power mode. Five minutes into the newest beta and it’s night and day.

Is anyone else having LTE issues? iPhone 8+ TMO. My LTE signal sometimes goes max, disappears, goes max then finally goes down to normal for the area

Does anyone get occasional, horrid screeching and “dial up” sounds while on phone calls? I’d blame the other end which was a landline, but who knows.

Isn’t haptic feedback when snapping photos supposed to be present on iPhone 7 devices now? Mine isn’t working. Worked sometimes on iOS 12.0 but isn’t working at all on 12.1.

On my X there is a "light" haptic feedback when i take a photo.

But also there is sometimes a haptic feedback when i close a app (swiping up). Another bug on 12.1...

Also my iPhone Storage (Settings->General->iPhone Storage) shows the wrong app sizes of some apps. For example WhatsApp it shows only the appsize (96MB or so) and not the "Documents and Data" (around 1,30 GB)...
