What about performance?
General performance and battery life seem pretty great/stable here on my iPhone 8 Plus and iPad Mini 4, at least during the first 12 or so hours of testing (and after allowing things to simmer down and then performing a couple of restarts on each device).

Again, however, it’s been less than even a full day so it’s obviously best to take my and others’ anecdotes with grains of salt.

12.2 is seemingly the “peripheral support” release, based on the article below and the changes to the Remote feature. Seems the iPhone is becoming the hub that the Mac or Apple TV were once envisioned as becoming.

I don‘t think the iPhone is becoming the hub, I think the Apple Ecosystem and your AppleID + iCloud are the new hub. All your media, accessible from and controllable from any device that supports the Apple Ecosystem. Never made sense to me to push the ATV as a media hub, iCloud is the hub.

some changes on ApplePay layout - the "three dots" to go to the details in the upper corner,
much cleaner

Something worth testing...

The old Remote UI in Control Center was designed to be used short-term. It was a popover control similar to volume or brightness. The new UI is full screen and must be exited like an app.

How does the new UI behave when used for extended periods of time?

Swift 5 is included in this release too so apps built using the newest Xcode no longer need to include the Swift libraries which means smaller apps.

Flashlight refused to work. It was grey like it was on. So I went and used camera to flash. Then the flashlight icon grayed out. Reboot fixed it.

Same here on both my devices.

Thus far there’s nothing happening that would make me want to go back to the latest release. Wi-Fi is very stable and everything just feels a bit smoother. I upgraded without an additional reboot. That’s my experience, but every device setup is different.

This beta has been stable and smooth for me on my XS. The only thing I noticed last night is that "iPhone not charging" bug has come back again. Where you plug it in and it may not charge right away. It hasn't done this since it was patched months ago.

I think this beta broke my wallet app. Usually when I choose a credit card the finger print reader appears right under the card image. Now it’s nowhere to be found. I’ve rebooted but no luck. Reported.

As much as the modem upgrade tempts me, I think I am going to sit this one out and stick with 12.1.3 final for a bit.

I would be interested in feedback about LTE however ...

Great thread!

Great thread!

The earliest would be 1pm Eastern today. But better bet is Monday at 1pm.

Did you have Apple Pay set up prior to the update? I experienced the same thing on my 6S but I haven’t set up Wallet or Apple Pay on it.

I did have Apple Pay set up prior to the update. I get the same popup you did on the home screen after rebooting.

Looks like some authentication weirdness with apps:

- BECU (mobile banking) app fails to log in
- Geico app fails to log in
- AT&T app fails to pull in billing info
