Though I don’t use Slack, I do too — not very unique and white

Much like Failbook, I only use it because it's the only way to communicate with certain people. I'd much rather use Signal (because Slack is swiss cheese) or iMessage, if my one friend would get a job and get an iPhone already.

My battery life is amazing on this beta. 44 percent left and last time I charged my phone was 3 PM yesterday and I didn’t charge it over night, it was in standby mode the entire time, so far I’m very happy with this beta

Hi everyone... I posted the message below regarding AirPlay late in the beta 3 thread, and, with apologies for repeating myself, I was wondering if anyone has tested or could test something similar in beta 4? This problem remains really bad for me.

The problem actually shows up as soon as I do screen mirroring of my XR to 3rd gen Apple TV. As I switch screens on my iPhone, there is a horrible lag on the TV. It's inconsistent -- sometimes the lag is so bad it seems completely locked up, sometimes it's a bit better. But I certainly cannot play video using screen mirroring. Thanks for any ideas!

Here's the original message from the other thread:
Anyone having AirPlay issues?
I use the TiVo app to play things from my living room DVR, and an Apple TV (3rd gen) / AirPlay to project onto the bedroom TV. This has worked great for 2 years but miserably with this beta — both the video and audio lag or stall completely. Playback on my phone is great, so it’s not the TiVo app or my WiFi as far as I can tell. And the same process works great in the living room with a newer Apple TV (4K), although I don’t need to do that since that’s where the TiVo is physically located. I’ve tried changing some settings, restarted the Apple TV and my phone, etc. no improvement. I’ve reported it to Apple but wanted to see if anyone here had ideas. Thanks.

Old WiFi bug came back. Ugh. Mostly when connecting to a network you have to log into (captive?). Anyway, this went away in b3, but is back in b4. I come into work in the morning, my phone says I’m connected to WiFi, but it’s really not. I have to “forget the network”, turn WiFi off, turn WiFi back on, then try and reconnect to network. This is insane. Never had a problem before this phone and iOS.

Report sent.

IPP G2 - all seems the same except for apps that I can use TouchID to unlock (Finance as an example). These apps are now exhibiting a 2-3 second pause before visually doing anything.

Well I'm on the PB and just had a settings freeze. Wonderful. I've done a soft reset so we'll see how it behaves now.

Exactly the same behavior on mine. Specifically for WiFi that requires login

Has anyone had trouble with a news subscription in Apple News? My subscription, which is not through Apple's built in subscription, constantly longs out any time I exit the app. I've reported it several times to Apple and it's not been fixed. It happened before the beta as well.

Battery life seems the same as well. But the phone occasionally stutters and gets randomly warm during usage. WiFi feels like a crapshoot now if your not near your router. I feel at this point Apple is just doing A and B testing and monitoring feedback. They don’t know what’s the actual fix yet.

Although I experienced a few strange wifi connection issues yesterday and last night, mostly while attempting to send private messages on Twitter on my iPhone 8 Plus, this beta has been otherwise really solid on both my iPhone 8 Plus and iPad Mini 4—impressively so on the latter.

Typically my aging iPad feels a tad sluggish during day-to-day use, but on this beta things like multitasking, keyboard responsiveness*, and general usability are all particularly quick and fluid. At night I prefer using my iPad for reading and/or web-browsing and although battery life usually is subpar and falls steadily throughout the evening, last night it held up remarkably well.

I also experienced some odd memory leak issues on both devices while running the previous beta (mostly switching between apps triggering unnecessary app restarts/webpage reloads, particularly on the less-RAM-endowed iPad Mini 4), and those so far seem to be resolved.

Overall I’m quite pleased with 12.2 beta 4 and I hope that some of these noticeable improvements—especially on the iPad—stick around of course not only while running this build specifically but also as things further progress toward iOS 12.2 final and beyond, while the connectivity issues continue getting ironed out. :apple:

*Small addendum, but I thought it was worth nothing: In certain instances I’m seeing some strange lag when attempting to hide the iPad’s on-screen keyboard. I’ll submit a report.

Nope. It’s weaker in this beta. And seeing some connection issues.

I get this constantly, connected to Wi-Fi but just not loading at all, and no, my iMac connects straight to that website..

EDIT: I left it alone and 4 minutes after I refreshed the page, it loaded extremely slow, in fact its still loading now. HomePods meanwhile skipping and streaming songs instantly. Bravo Apple

Yep I see that too. I rebooted my phone and it’s happening less now. Still annoying though with WiFi disconnecting.

Still have the icon changing bug, better response then the previous beta but I can still replicate it on beta 4 just not as frequent. If you have an application that allows changing of the icon like At-Bat or others, until you restart your device the icon won't change. Now again, beta 4 has better response and in some cases does change the icon.. but not always and requires a restart for the changes to occur. Definitely an extremely minor bug, that they'll kill in the next beta more than likely.

Oh the green bubbles are a nightmare, and forget trying to use other platforms ― most of them have weird design quirks or UIs that I can't stand

Have those with wifi issues tried disabling wifi calling? (just to make sure that negotiation isn't part of the problem)
If it is, it would be worth adding to the bug reports.

When you're playing music/audio from your phone and you change the volume on your watch, you get the ugly HUD on the screen. I don't remember this ever happening before so may be bug.
