Doesn’t matter if it’s a beta or not ..

i don't get it. you're posting on the beta thread, so... are you having problems on the beta? here, on the beta discussed on this thread, my XS is doing fine. so it's not an issue necessarily with the beta (or the os in general), but something that's happening for you. worth geting help with that...

Well I get where they are coming from. It‘d be fatal to push an app update out to potentially 1bil+ iOS devices at the same time. I do think it‘s a bit overkill to have auto updates be staggered for THAT long and it could hinder app devs by not allowing them to fix crucial bugs, cause people refuse to update or simply don‘t know how. That being said I don‘t know how else they could do it. They could offer a way to flag updates as critical so they get pushed asap, but I‘d wager most devs would abuse the system to get all of their updates out asap.

My apps auto update daily.

Putting my iPhone into Airplane Mode will also put my Watch into Airplane Mode.

However, putting my iPhone back to normal does *not* put the Watch back to normal operation.

I’ve literally never seen that before...

  • Lock screen orientation glitch in the Control Center: If you have screen orientation lock enabled, and then change the state of "Increase Contrast" in Settings, for example enable it, your lock orientation icon will be fully white instead of red. Video: Here

You doing too much.

Why would it? The watch is in airplane mode. It can’t communicate with the phone in any way. Bluetooth and WiFi is OFF. it’s been this way for years.

I just saw that they changed the audio codec sent by iMessage improving the quality of the audios sent! Excellent news!

Naw. They just increased the bandwidth, probably doubled. Say 32kbps mono to 64kbps. I can finally understand my annoying friends lol.

My apps auto update daily.

Same here! Every day unless I do it manually and it delays for a day. It doesn’t update ALL apps but honestly this makes sense to me. I like how Apple does this vs Android who is random and does it all in one shot. Which causes your phone to stutter and battery to drain more.

The biggest test for me was my mom. She doesn’t even know how. I always check on her phone every two weeks and majority of apps are updated and even says “Today.” So to me it’s good.

Me too. No issues on my max.

That, or we are all on A/B testing, you got A, we others got B. ;)

Haha. I wanna stay B forever. Solid beta. Makes using my phone fun again.

I’m with you. This beta reminds me of the quality and stuff Apple can do. I have not run into a single hiccup. This could be the GM and I would be happy. No more 12 releases Apple all hands on deck for 13.

It better be. It better be. Lord knows imma be scared to try the next beta if there’s one lol.

Like. 5Ghz WiFi is finally STRONG in this beta, and no one who was complaining about it noticed lol. I’ve had ONE disconnect. ONE. Like. I can’t believe it’s the same phone.

Apple finally figured something out. My only issue now is WiFi will get slow occasionally but it doesn’t last long.

I've noticed this too. Wondered why I wasn't getting notifications on the Watch.

Sounds like expected behavior. If Airplane Mode is turned on and the watch copies the phone's setting, the watch wouldn't be able to get the signal from the phone to turn it back off.

Any change in the LTE connectivity issues? Or did you not have those?

o_O

No day goes by that I do not do something dumb.

With any luck at all, that was the dumbest thing I do today!!

Just caved in and installed this beta on my iphone xs and it feels so much better than the ios 12.1. I haven't seen any of the normal keyboard jank or glitches that I saw on ios 12.1. Good stuff, Apple! So far, all my apps are working perfectly, here's hoping I don't see any more issues, but very impressed at how solid and clean this feels.

While I agree, there should be some backchannel listening (but not radiating) channel left on so the Watch will precisely mirror the phone and vice versa. This became a problem for me recently in the other direction: unknown to me, my phone slipped out of my pocket and down into the guts of the recliner I was sitting on. When I realized I didn't know where it was, I pinged it using the Watch. Unfortunately the default layout of the controls on the watch puts the pinger button next to the airplane mode button. I mishit the controls on the Watch and hit the Airplane Mode button by accident, putting both the Watch and iphone into airplane mode and could no longer ping the phone. Took me about an hour to find it. If I could have disabled airplane mode I would have found the phone in minutes.

Only issue I have so far is occasionally when I pull down the screen to search for an app etc the keyboard doesn't always pop up and I have to do it twice.

iPhone X, XS users:

Set this image as your lock screen wallpaper, then wake your phone check out how it fades into a black wallpaper for half a second before switching to this wallpaper.

Any idea why this happens? Doesn’t seem to be an issue with actual photos...but saved images and screen shots consistently produce that half-second black wallpaper before triggering the custom wallpaper.

what? as soon as i open my phone, it turns from black to that image. so, not sure what's happening for you. maybe night shift is kicking in? since my screen does darken little bit a half-second in... (night shift taking effect). def not going to black tho.

darkens a bit, it's not going to black. and you're on a beta. maybe true tone kicking in, so it's adjusting to ambient light? and (not to be rude), surely there are more important things to worry about? i mean... it darkens a little bit, then it's 'normal'.....

Has nothing to do with the beta - it’s done that on every beta and official version of iOS.

The whole point of this thread is to discuss these glitches and unexpected behaviors, no matter how seemingly large or small. What would you rather me concern myself with?

it's done that for you... and worth troubleshooting. the question is, why is that happening on your phone? try changing some settings (ie true tone off/on, etc), and perhaps check the settings in accessibility. and consider starting a thread here, to get other (perhaps more useful) suggestions. good luck!

I had some friends install the same wallpaper and they were able to reproduce the issue. It’s not just me. Thanks.
