OK I get it. No worries and sorry if I ruffled everyone's feathers. But its been 'assumed' to be a bug several times and maybe it is, but maybe its not. That bar on the iPX was also initially thought to be a bug too until folks figured out what it was for and that it went away after some time. Anyway not to worry. I concede it MAY be a bug ok? Sorry I had a different opinion of another possibility other than a bug. But it sure did help me figure out where they moved CC to on my iPad LOL

No need to apologise I'm just saying, this is definitely a bug - Apple wouldn't use the same indicator for no signal and as a control centre indicator.

Ok, as a general observation I have to add to the chorus that this is easily the fastest and most stable beta I’ve ever used, especially for a v.1.

Biggest problem I’ve encountered though is that the GPS is wonky. Very inaccurate, in both GMaps and Waze.
I don’t seem to have any GPS problem. My maps and GPS are spot on. My only issue is my alert tones change by themselves ha ha

On a non-cellular device? Ok maybe you are right. Maybe not tho :). Not seen a bar yet btw, just that indicator and it goes away when you swipe it down just like the bar in the iPX.

I guess because they changed CC on the iPad in this version. That's when the bar appeared on the iPX when CC was no longer a swipe up but a grab handle to show you where it was. So it stands to reason there would be some indicator that CC activation has changed on iPad with iOS 12, especially since these dots are appearing on a non-cellular device. But I don't work for Apple and do not know 100% that is the case. I suspect you guys don't either but if you do know 100% please share your evidence. Anyway that would be the 'why' it got mentioned. Of course it could change to a solid bar, go away, become 6 dots, etc in the next betas. We just have to see I suppose.

It’s an interesting thought - a pull down indicator, but I think it’s very safe to say that it is the cellular signal dots.

We don’t necessarily have evidence one way or the other, but by the design of it, location, and behaviour, I’d say cell service dots/bars are what it is. Not to mention the dots/bars are still showing even after you’ve pulled down control center.

Also - if it was going to be a CC indicator / grab bar, why would it be grey’d out dots in the place where cellular signal bars usually are and not a solid bar below where you’d grab?

I’ll attach some screenshots from when cellular is turned off, turning on, and then on/connected.

Is Apple News available for Canadians in this beta?

Nope.. 3 years since News was announced with iOS 9. I don’t get it. Would be a nice service, and they keep pushing it to other devices, talking about it at events, integrated it into stocks, yet its still stuck in just 3 countries. Apple is usually quite good about pushing content/services to many locales. Music launched in over 100 countries the same year.

For some reason my Activity app keeps trying to load all my badges. Seems that this is not working on my iPhone X. They do load on my girlfriends iPhone 7. I love the new way they've sorted that list.

Agreed - it looks so nice seeing them all broken down into categories, with dates marked on them and additional info. Quite nice. They are showing as expected on my iPhone X fwiw.

Haven't seen a post about this yet - is anyone else getting strange spacing on the 4G (4 G) and 3G (3 G) lettering on their iPhone X's? (Attached)

Not a deal-breaker, just a little weird!

Couple o' bugs on my iPhone X

1. GIFs (I've only noticed on Tumblr so far) don't load 100% and have some black pixelation happening.
2. Some webpages don't fully load. For example, tried doing a quick google search and anything after suggested vids was just blank. I could scroll down but it was just a plain white page. I did a hard restart and it still occurred on certain websites.

Hmm here is screen shot of wi-fi only iPad mini 4. Totally different than what you are showing. So no wonder we are in 2 different camps as to what it is. And they do disappear when CC is opened here.

No, there is no "MAY be;" it 100% is a bug that displays cellular signal bars on non-cellular iPads. You arguing otherwise is like pointing at the sky and claiming it "could be" green. No, it couldn't be and it isn't.

That symbol is instantly recognizable as the "no signal" icon, and for Apple to randomly use it to indicate Control Center only on non-cellular iPads is so absurd that it doesn't even merit discussion.

Did you make sure JavaScript is enabled under Safari setting?

Weird - on my mini 4 when I pull down CC I see the same as the screenshots I posted earlier.

Ahh, my mini 4 is also a cellular model (though I don’t currently have a SIM card in it). That’s probably why.

Interesting though how the cellular version splits the status icons like the iPhone used to show.

It's like 20 pages countless scrolling of this non cellular signal dots wifi iPad only. Nothing else to look into it. Done! It's a bug for geez sake. Start a poll in another thread. Let's move on. Thank you.

Yes I am to iPhone X. Reported it already but need more too report it on Apple app.

iPhone X here...
GPS is definitively having some issues.
Usually indoors (in my house), I'm getting at least 16 meters accuracy after 20 secs max... now maximum 33m after 3 minutes.
on the highway, I'm usually at 8 meters... the best today was 17m... and sometimes it wasn't even locking to GPS.
when not moving, I usually get 3-4 meters accuracy on a perfect clear sky... now max is 17 meters.

I did a reset network settings... which sometimes fixed the problem on previous version... but it does absolutely nothing on the iOS 12 beta 1.

went back to 11.4.1 beta 1... and all is fine.
I did not even reset anything... just "upgraded" to 11.4.1 through iTunes... and pretty much everything is there.

Is the battery health section still in beta? Any changes there?

No changes in the section, however my phone now reports my battery is supporting normal peak performance. Prior it had been throttled two times, both which I turned off. Interesting since the battery health reports the same 80% capacity.

Could this be an indication of improved software management of processor loads?

I know there’s a legal reason for this but seems odd: it’s only the news. You’d think they’d have more trouble with Apple Pay.

Yet you are discussing it. So stop then. o_O
