I have the 10 and an iPhone SE. The iPhone SE obviously does not have 3D Touch and I often wish it did. It’s not a pain to not have it but definitely makes things more convenient, especially messaging on the lock screen. Once you start using it, you get used to it. If Apple’s goal is to make the phone thinner and/or lighter, I think they have done a good job with that already. Their goal must be to make the phone so light that it will blow away with a sudden breeze.

Why in the world do you have an empty app switcher?! You should know that for the past 5+ years background app management is handled differently on iOS and you are actually making your phone work harder by constantly closing apps.

Unfortunately that still doesn’t explain why such a trivial, esoteric issue should have anyone so rattled.

I have been waiting for perhaps some sort of understanding why this would be important. Beyond the fact that iOS doesn't need you to "close apps" in the manner that android phones to all the phone to function, why does the lack of haptic feedback when the app switcher is EMPTY annoy anyone? I'm just looking for understanding on this one since the poster has posted this numerous times since it became an issue.

Many reporting much higher scores on an iPhone 8 Plus, e.g., multi core score over 10000. I’m not seeing them and don’t know if there is anything that I can do to increase speed. Geekbench is being run after clearing cashed memory.

Is anyone else experiencing regular springboard crashes on this beta? I was experiencing them before usually tied to the Messaging app but they were very far between. After installing this beta, they are happening regularly and while using several different apps. I’ve had 6 springboard crashes in the past 30 minutes on my commute to work. I was using Safari, Mesaging, Calendar, Mail, and Instagram when they happened. I’ve also had them when using the Music app. One of them I wasn’t using any app just had the phone unlocked and had a springboard crashes. I’m putting together my report to Apple, but wanted to see if this was happening to anyone else.

A few questions, first of all why are people talking about phone sizes when this is the 12 beta thread, makes it hard to get actual information about this specific beta.

Second, anybody in T-Mobile still having WiFi calling issues or is that fixed now?

Third, does iOS 12 calculate screen off different than previously? I know my iPad Pro has been off and inactive for hours but it’s saying it’s only had 14 mi s screen off? Is an app keeping things on when it shouldn’t? I’ve got background refresh turned off for everything so not sure how it isn’t getting more screen off time?

Wow, that's news to me. So at least there's a work around for that.
That’s new for me too and it’s a nice feature so thanks, but it doesn’t seem to be a way to make any selections of text while using that method.

Anyway, I belong to the side that likes 3D Touch and hopes it stays.

So I’ve gotten a bit lost with lots of discussions on 3D Touch and the like... What I’m wondering is what is the verdict on this particular beta? I’m on PB8 on my iPhone X and iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 2. Both are working quite well. I first upgraded on my phone to PB6 when the prior version of this forum said stability and speed were both solid. I skipped PB7 when it sounded like that was a minor step back. Jumped back on for PB8 upon reading positive feedback.

However, I’m having a hard time from this particular forum determining if you all think going from PB8 to PB9 is a wise idea, or better to sit tight on PB8. Thoughts?
Update—just go for it!

Is getting really annoying every time I go to a site this cookies messages keep coming up , seriously

I use it all the time too, but you can also hold the space bar and it will invoke the trackpad without 3D Touch.
OK so what exactly can you do with the trackpad? I am lost too. All I see is the ability to move cursor to a different point when typing. If that is it then never thought about that being a 'trackpad' all this time :)

My iphone 6 stills a little bit slow with ios 12. Some lag here and there. Is this normal considering it is a beta? Apple is suposse to give us 40% performance for older devices and it doesnt seems like they have gave us even a 20%. Should official release of ios 12 got to be better and faster than beta 11?

I was thinking of doing a clean install when release, to see if it helps with lag and stutters.

Remember that iOS 12 betas have a lot of debug code. The golden master will be released without all that so your iPhone 6 should run better.

That’s all it does. Someone referred to it as keyboard trackpad, so I used the same word when replying to them.

Think about it, we are also talking milliseconds. So 20% or 40% or 50% of a few milliseconds isn't gonna be earth shattering, and certainly you cant tell if its 20% or 40% I wouldn't suspect. If it takes 500ms for the keyboard to display and they shave 50% off, then its only 1/4 of a second difference. But as stated by others the beta code will be removed and hopefully a little more optimized in final so potentially it should be slightly better than beta in theory.

I thought I was having a pretty crazy beta issue on my iPhone X where the screen wouldn't respond to touch even after numerous restarts and restoring. Went to an Apple store today and they had to replace the screen

I think people are referring to the ability to use 3D touch to select text as well. If you move the cursor over a word and put a little extra pressure on the screen, it will select. I don't think you can currently do that with non-3D touch devices, they can only be used as a cursor.

I’m on T-Mobile and started my phone call with Wi-Fi calling on and then turned Wi-Fi off and was still able to continue my phone call without it ending.

Is it me but when you connect your device to charge it vibrates twice?

What does this “Cleaning” mean when updating apps? Clearing cache files before updating? Just curious!

A little spring cleaning ... lol

“When an app says it's Cleaning... this means that iOS is deleting unneeded app files stored in the Caches and tmp directories. This helps free up space and reduces the amount of data that will be synced when the app is synced.“

Without “trackpad mode” I can’t accurately move my cursor to an exact point anymore !

Can you all please do a report in the feedback app for a faster opening control center? The animation is way too slow. It should have the same speed as the iphone x animation, or atleast as fast as the notification center animation.

Or they could remove the bump at the end.
On iPad Pro:
I don’t need to pull down. I just flick down and it opens instantly.

Anyone here (ip7 user) experience battery drain on standby at night? last night before i sleep my device batt is 36% when i woke up and check my device batt is 12% left.
