The Bluetooth icon isn’t visible in the status bar even when Bluetooth accessories are connected.

Is this an intended behaviour or a bug?

So this beta has introduced a new bug with using homekit for me. I don't know if it's homekit or GPS, as I haven't been using the GPS much for anything else since installing this beta, but my locations based automations are being set off at short intervals.

It's pretty annoying being in bed and suddenly have the light in the hall turn on, because the phone thinks I just arrived at home.

This was a problem in early betas too, when the GPS lock problem was a thing. As if it lost sight of where the phone is and then suddenly locks on at home and thinks that I just arrived, so the automation for that turns on.

I've had to disable the automation for now.

Thanks, was a bit confusing at first sight.

That’s because it’s an ass-backwards decision which is so counter-intuitive it doesn’t make any damn sense at all. That fact that you had to ask if it’s a bug (and it isn’t) should tell you that the change makes no sense and is opposite common logic.

Another great example of this is shutting off WiFi from the control center, only to find that it isn’t really off. You still have to go into settings to turn it off, after you already indicated / attempted it through control center. See how stupid that is? It’s about as stupid as hiding the Bluetooth icon. So dumb. Such simple, dumb things being made harder or less intuitive to do or get to. Frustrating!

I’m having a problem where the keyboard is jumping up towards the middle of the screen on an iPad Pro 10.5. Happens on both portrait and landscape.

Running the latest public beta - Any way to fix this other than a reboot?

This might need a separate topic but I have a question about Siri Shortcuts. Something I’ve noticed since the early betas but not questioned really. Siri is able to suggest shortcuts in WhatsApp like sending a message to a particular group or contact, presumably cos I message them often/at that time of day etc.

Obviously WhatsApp doesn’t support new iOS 12 APIs yet so I’m wondering what existing API/framework/kit WhatsApp is using which allows Siri to extract this for a suggestion?

Are there any other apps doing this?

the performance has been consistently great during these betas. But those bugs are still there. Like the screen time is still a mess.

I thought this was introduced in 10.3 for Siri to be able send WhatsApp messages? I’m assuming that’s why WhatsApp can come up as a suggestion.

Yeah Siri can send WhatsApp messages, but how does it know about my groups in WhatsApp and what actions I perform regularly in WhatsApp given that I never use Siri to send messages? There must be some other mechanism beyond simply the fact that WhatsApp can receive instructions from Siri - some way for WhatsApp to expose that information for Siri to collect. It could well be related to that existing Siri integration, but I can’t connect all the dots yet. Hope that makes sense.
[doublepost=1535625053][/doublepost]Ok, I looked into it, things are becoming clearer but I don't think I fully understand. Here's what I've found out:

It turns out that apps have been creating Shortcuts since as far back as iOS 8. If you make use of NSUserActivity then these are donated automatically when calling becomeCurrent() or you can use the donate(completion:) method of INInteraction since iOS 10 to donate any of the standard SiriKit interactions such as starting a workout, initiating a voip call, or booking a ride. Any app that has done this, regardless of whether it has been updated for iOS 12, will show in the Shortcuts system.

So amazingly, apps have been creating shortcuts since iOS 8. But what were these 'shortcuts' used for, before this new shortcuts system in iOS 12 exposed them in new ways? The documentation for the NSUserActivity class (available since iOS 8) lists Handoff and Spotlight results among other things.

View attachment 778519 ...does iOS 12 calculate screen off different than previously? I know my iPad Pro has been off and inactive for hours but it’s saying it’s only had 14 mi s screen off? Is an app keeping things on when it shouldn’t? I’ve got background refresh turned off for everything so not sure how it isn’t getting more screen off time?

This 'Screen Off' shows the battery usage of background processes. You can tap the 'Show activity' to see the 'on screen' and 'background' usage minutes per app.

anyone having issues with facebook news feed after the upgrade? my news feed isnt loading correctly / stuck. tried reinstalling the app, force close and even reset all settings

I have seen where my news feed loads up and takes ages to update itself. I go to another tab first, then back again and refresh it myself. However it is not worse for me on this PB, it is just 'there' and annoying.
Another thing I have found with this, it momentarily gets better after a reboot but still comes back.

you are using the official facebook app?

That stupid “a new iOS update is now available” keeps popping up every single time I unlock my phone. It’s getting annoying and irritating. Anyone knows how to stop it? And yes, I’m on beta 11.
Same here. It’s so annoying!!

Weird, so we’re all receiving the “new update is available” notification currently? It keeps popping up when returning to the home screen.
Yes
