I loaded iOS 12 for first time on wife’s iPhone 6 Plus and holy moly, noticeable difference in performance when compared to iOS 11.4.1. The phone is all-around much more responsive. I’ll be loading it on her iPad Air 2 later. Can’t wait to see if there’s a diffference there as well. :)

I've been beta testing on my iPad said beta 1. Never had any issues. How was I suppose to expect that activity would be missing their own badge? It was on my phone already, didn't expect to disappear. If I wait until tomorrow, then downgrading will cause me to lose my 900 day steak.

Thats why I never put beta's on my daily driver. Even if the beta runs well on my other device, there is no real benefits to do so on your most important device because you never know what could happens. The best exemple is what you described and now you don't know how to downgrade without losing any health data.

As much as I like iOS 12 on both my iPads, I can easily live with 11.4.1 on my main iPhone until the public release. Its not like if 11.4.1 is unusable and iOS 12 have tons of new stuff.

This could be completely in my head, but I think my maps look different in Huntsville, AL.

Put it here as well, the Maps group should enjoy checking it out:

Update: as far as I can see, the mapping detail itself has not changed. See the image below and you will notice a distinct greenish pattern all over new updated maps of California. Huntsville still lacks this. Apart from the new updated looks, however, they have also changed driving hints (directions) system, so this might have been what felt unusual and noticed.

It is September 1st, requiring 50 minutes of exercise. But the badge has disappeared. 48 hours before you get the blank badge, telling you what to do. That is missing. First two images are iOS 11, last is iOS 12.

So I never really paid attention to when you got your blank badge, but I got mine tonight at 12 when I was out. So maybe they changed it to getting it at Midnight the first day of the month.

Wait what? Latest bug still HAS this nag???? I lost my Perfect Month when trying to fix this ***** thing. And yet this update does not remove this nag???
Yes it has solved it. I have only seen this one complaint in the entire thread that is hasn't so either this user didn't actually get updated to the latest version or its a one off issue. I did see another user who thought he updated but his build was showing the beta 11 build # so did it again and it worked. Maybe thats the case here too.

No blank badge here. I had it, then it went away after updating yesterday. It’s supposed to show up 48 hours in advance.

That could have been what I thought was different, just the directions she was giving me.

Just to follow up on this post.

I installed iOS 12 on my wife’s iPad Air 2 for the first time and same results. Device is much more responsive and smooth, when compared to iOS 11.4.1. This gives us additional life for both of these devices, so there is no rush to upgrade for at least another year. That’s definitely not planned obsolescence. :D

Thanks for the update! I will also load it up on my wife's iPad Air 2 too...I loaded it up on her iPhone 6 and she did notice a performance improvement which is significant!

Inasmuch as this release was sped out the door to fix the update pop up issue, Apple probably didn’t have time to prepare comprehensive release notes.

Were there significant changes you were expecting at this point in the development cycle?

The first post is a wiki, so if you notice any changes or fixes, you may certainly add them there.

The whole activity app badge issue and various other issues throughout this beta finally made me wipe my device and start as new on 11.4.1. With how much is synced to iCloud these days you can be back up and running in 1-2 hours.

As cool as it is to see new features I’ll be staying away from beta releases in the future.

Actually now I am using 11.4.1. I was using 12 since beta 5 I think, but now I am traveling and I preferred to downgrade, in case something happens with my device and I need to take it to Apple. I don’t want them to tell me that it happened because I was using beta software.

I followed the discussion and didn’t see people speaking about issues, and I was curious to see if actually they fixed most of the bugs. This is very unlikely to happen from one beta to the very next one, but I wanted to be a little naive and think this

I'd say this was pretty much at GM. There will be a few more fixes and improvements that none of us have even noticed in the GM. The next release will be GM I think. Apple are now focusing on 12.1 and on standby for the 12.0.1 through 12.0.4 when the new products release

Just noticed this bug, is it new?

With the phone unlocked, pull down the lock screen less than a centimetre and release/flick up. For a brief while the lock screen version of the status bar appears over the top of the normal one. Found on iPhone 8, not sure about the X with its notched status bar.

Not a GM-stopping bug of course :p
