My old iPhone 6 feels a lot faster but maybe that’s just placebo effect. Also did they make the font darker? Something looks different with the font

What Do you mean by font darker ? what font ?
iPhone 6+ seems about the same as iOS 11.4. Home button still seems like it's delaying a little before it kicks in. Still need to vet for some of the known bugs but Apple hasn't updated their bug reports so I'm kinda guessing they are still there. Will wait a day to see if battery life is better. May pop a sim card in again to test that now, actually...
iPhone X is a bit more responsive with gestures, a welcome addition. Face unlocking does work a bit more reliably/faster, though it may just be me (lighting in the room is also quite good right now). Apps don't seem to open up any faster, Facebook still takes ages to open and load new items. Some apps crash outright upon opening. Looks like I also gotta rebuild my own apps. App switcher seems to pause/delay a little before jumping in so I'm guessing I gotta restore the whole phone to see if that's just because of app config or something like that.
So far, 6+ is the same, X is a bit... better here and there, worse elsewhere.
You mentioned before about the change in font. I agree. It has been changed and in my opinion, is much easier to read.Like everywhere. Contrast seems to be set higher than on my iPhone 7 Plus.
Keyboard suggestion for example seems darker
testing on iphone8, too early to really tell but so far it's same as ios11. Siri is still an idiot though, need to fool around with it more. Really liking group notifications
If you have a triple click home button short cut enabled the delay is present. Check your accessibility settings.

I know the "feels snappier" thing is a meme but it's completely true this time, certain Apple services are way faster. Biggest noticeable improvement thus far has been Spotlight, it's almost instant compared to 11.4 which would lag for a second when opening spotlight. Now it opens instantly and shows results almost as fast as you can press the keys.
[doublepost=1528153471][/doublepost]I've only had this beta for a couple hours but this is definitely the most reliable dev beta 1 I've tried on iOS, none of the usual hiccups or glitches like from the last couple years. Running on an X btw.
My old 5s was on 11.3.1 before I updated to 12. The phone feels slightly faster and smoother. I’m not sure if it’s placebo or not.
Runs great on my old iPhone 6
Wow, it’s legitimately an upgrade in performance....and it’s only the first beta!
Never been this impressed with a first beta in all of iOS beta history....

I think it is snappier. Especially the keyboard and typing, General UI gestures, launching app switcher, all superior than before.
Snappy on my 7 plus as well.

Agreed....I feel the same, it’s the most reliable beta 1 I have ever used
Here iapplebytes has a comparison of the 5s and the 6
Looks like iOS 12 beta 1 is faster...and this is just beta, and the first release of the beta.
6S running amazingly well. Also going to jump on the font bandwagon. I have no idea how, but words just look crisper.
Quick update:
The 12.9” iPad is running great so far, but the mini 4 is hanging like crazy, especially springboard.
Battery life is markedly better for me on both iPad Pro and iPhone X.
My X is much faster now.
