That is correct. I just stated that iOS 11.1 came out before the iPhone X.
So with that I suspect iOS 12.1 will be out next week. (I could be wrong)....
probably beta 5 next week which will end up being the gm build/public release version released on October 30th with new iPad Pro and October event that same day.
I think they will release something else this week, maybe 12.0.2 or beta 5 of 11.1 since they released Beta 4 on Monday not Tuesday.

the build number was a gm candidate 15B92. im expecting the same for beta 5 of iOS 12.1 that they will have a GM candidate released for beta testers.
Just because the final beta is the same as the public release does not mean it’s a GM.

Could the XR's ship with 12.1? It's possible. Will they ship with 12.1? Highly unlikely. Does it matter if they ship with 12.1? Absolutely not.
No. They won’t ship with 12.1. XR entered production weeks ago. 12.1 was not finished then. My XS was built 5 weeks before launch date.
To be fair though, there were beta versions of iOS 12.0 that were released after your phone was produced, right? Beta 11 was released August 27. Beta 10 was August 23.
im still expecting a beta 5 before public release and that beta could be this week or next week and that makes the public release still at least 13 days out.

When was the build that was the same as GM released as beta vs when your phone was built?
Beta 11 came out one week after my phone was built. Same week as beta 10.

My phone was built the week of beta 10. Thats one week before final beta. To say that XR will ship with 12.1 is impossible because that means the final was being installed when beta 1 was released.
They most likely will just ship with iOS 12 and have an update available to 12.0.1 or 12.1 if it comes out by october 26th.
i hope we see beta 5 either today or tomorrow and a public release next week sometime even though its probably still october 30th.
there was only a 3 day gap last year between iOS 11.1 beta 4 and beta 5. if we go with that pattern we should see beta 5 today!
