Broken Hope

Previous x.1 updates have not gone past beta 5 as of the past few years so I'd be surprised if we see another beta.

My search doesn’t work in beta 5 within the settings app. Battery drain is really bad in beta 5. So I suspect beta 6 this week.
Search in Settings? Really? That's a bug that warrants a second beta in a single week?

What setting do you change so often that you need search in Settings to work before next week?

Search in settings hasn't worked since 12.0B, so I think the point is, it's still broken.

Been over a month and my activity app is still a disaster.

Search in settings is working fine for me in 12.0.1. What is it that's not working for you?

I'd say that's a pretty good indicator that it doesn't warrant another beta this week then.

Sorry to hear about your Activity app. That's been a long running problem for you hasn't it?

Works on my XS, hasn't worked on my Air 2 since beta 2 of 12.0. Fresh install of GM, still didn't work. Search results come up blank.

Activity app has been a nightmare since 10.1 when there was a bug that caused health data to be erased upgrading from 10.0.x. I've worked with Apple for endless hours to no avail and its getting worse and worse with each subsequent update. It doesnt matter how many times I set my phone up as new. The phone seems incapable of counting days.

In the Siri & Search setting, try toggling off the two options for the Settings app: Search, Suggestions & Shortcuts and Allow on Lock Screen, then turn those back on. That should force the Spotlight database for the Search app to get rebuilt.

Thats for searching the phone, not Settings. I have Siri Suggestions completely disabled on all of my devices. Air 2 is the only one in which Settings Search does not work.

Crazy. Have you encountered other users with the same problem? The only issue I've ever had with Activity was a special achievement (don't recall what it was) not showing up for me because I was on the beta.

Have you tried what's mentioned in the last page or two of the thread at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/search-not-working-in-settings-app.2093798/?

Yes. I’ve found quite a few people that have had problems since 10.1. Something really got messed up that code and it hasn’t the been the same since. Doesn’t matter if you use a backup or start as new. Activity tracking just isn’t what it was with iOS 8/9.

Search in settings is working fine for me as well on 12.1 b5.
My search is working fine, but sometimes the search box shows up on settings screens where it should not (and obscures stuff at the top, occasionally causing a problem, as there's no way to reach the obscured setting).

probably not before the event though to prevent leaks of what new hardware we will see during the event.

go to settings, general, language and region, change iPhone language to English UK. wait for respring, force close the settings app. go back to same place, switch back to English US and after respring, it should work again.

If that doesn't work, hard reset your phone after force closing settings app after switching to English UK.

The search in the Settings app is still driven by Spotlight. Toggling those settings seems to force a rebuild of the Spotlight DB. It fixed strange behavior in searching Settings on my iPhone.
