Dont try and be funny lol yes im sure its a issue effecting millions that have the new phones

Unless I'm mistaken, you're the only person to mention this? Especially on here, where you would expect it to be all over the place. And, as mentioned before, I'm also on EE and have no issues with call stability, even on only 1 bar.

1/2 hour to go for beta 5. :)

My cat concurs

I could see them releasing 12.1 public release instead today if its true that the iphone XR is running 12.1 according to some reviewers.

12.1 beta 5 (16B5089b)

is out!

I really doubt that the iphone XR has 12.1 on it now even though a reviewer said it does. we are still getting betas and not at the final build.

Apple internally is ahead so GM is probably finalized already and loaded onto XR’s that started production late last week.

I just dont think we will see 12.1 this week. has there ever been a beta and a public release in the same week for a .x update? i dont think so.

I guess we will just have to wait till Friday to see if the XR's are shipping with 12.1. If Foxconn does have the final 12.1 code they could easily be shipping XR's with 12.1.

Foxconn has the capacity to push out 350 phones per minute which is around 504,000 per day or 3,528,000 in a week. It only takes 18 to 24 hours for the planes to get from Foxconn to U.S. distribution centers. Similar times for other distribution centers around the globe.

Since we don't what pre-order numbers are, we have no way of guessing how many are going to different global distribution centers.

Of course this is all just theoretical and speculation.

Xr's are already on the way to the consumers. Verizon shipped today (overnight) and Fedex is being told to not deliver until Friday even though they currently have them in their possession.

I'm almost positive that new phones will not start receiving a new update on the production line until the software is available for the public.

All XRs will have 12.0.1 installed on the assembly line until 12.1 is publicly released, then it will switch over. 11.1 came out before the X shipped, but X units being delivered 3-4 weeks after still had 11.0.3 installed, not 11.1.

Hmm, good point! This year's XS and XR release mirror last years' 8 and X release schedules, so I think this makes sense.

I wonder why some early reviewers mentioned 12.1 then?

Could have been getting confused and they really came with 12.0.1

Ok so I’d say after the iPad keynote.

Monday the 5th possibly

Edit: so they are working on improving the smarthdr on the front camera and easing up on the smoothing it’s being reported. No sign of this in beta 5.

I suppose a few more betas then

probably one more beta at the most. the new ipad models are being released rather soon and will need to have 12.1 already on them when sent out. 12.0 wont work on the new ipads because of face ID not being enabled till 12.1 supposedly and they would not ship new ipads with that feature not working among other features that are not enabled till 12.1.

i just read iphone XR reviews and they said the device comes with 12.0.1 so we can put that to rest that they would ship with 12.1

My guess is now also the Monday after the event. There are no signs that the smart HDR os foxes in beta 5. So at least one more beta.

There could always be a 12.1 supplement update. It has happened before.
