probably one more beta at the most. the new ipad models are being released rather soon and will need to have 12.1 already on them when sent out. 12.0 wont work on the new ipads because of face ID not being enabled till 12.1 supposedly and they would not ship new ipads with that feature not working among other features that are not enabled till 12.1.

i just read iphone XR reviews and they said the device comes with 12.0.1 so we can put that to rest that they would ship with 12.1
Ipads could come with their own version of 12.0.1 that has Face ID enabled for them.

Anyway, 12.1 is most logical.

Also, just because new iPads are being presented on the 30th doesn’t mean they will be ready to ship same week or so. They could be held for delivery several weeks later, which I guess will be the case (late November).

all of the .1 updates as of lately have came out in october and im expecting 12.1 to follow the same pattern. yes im aware of beautygate. that could be fixed in the next beta if we get one or just be a part of the public release version next week.

According to CNET, beautygate is fixed in the current beta
Apple to fix iPhone XS selfie smoothing with iOS 12.1

The company has tweaked the algorithm in the current beta of iOS 12.1, and separately confirmed to us that a future software update will allow previews of the portrait mode's depth effect before shooting on the iPhone XR.

Beta 5 has a “b” revision. No way it’s the final. Ever beta that has become the final has had an “a” revision.
I wouldn't necessarily count it out because of the 'b'. That only means some change they did initially didn't work quite like they wanted so made a second attempt/commit. That one was ok'ed to release so they did. That doesn't mean they will necessarily make further changes just to get a 1st commit, 'a' build. Not saying they wont, just not because b5 is a 'b' build. That really shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Can you quote from the link? I don’t want to provide permissions to yet another site if not needed. Thanks!

Basically a UK network EE 2nd line customer services have told a customer that eSIM will be available from the 29th.

So 12.1 has to be released either on Friday for the XR or Monday which would be my guess.

I was thinking it would be released on the day of the event (30th) or after not before then.

Normally, I would not put much stock in what a carrier rep says about iOS. But in this case, I would expect them to be in the loop as it directly affects them.

I'm going with monday for 12.1 release. Releasing on a friday right before a weekend and if there are any major issues that should come up that would not be good.

Ya they won’t release an iOS update on an iPhone release date too.
Thats not true. 7.0.1 came out the day the iPhone 5s launched. Thats just one example.

iOS X.0 updates used to come out the day the new iPhones launched. They were only separated because of server issues on launch days with all the activations of new phones.

will we see another beta today or tomorrow?
I'd guess nothing before next week. Overall consensus seems to be that beta 5 is pretty solid (outside all the obligatory battery life complaints). I don't see any good reason for them to drop a late week update.
