Because I'm a stickler, all case law, whether from 100 years ago or being decided tomorrow is called "common law".

My point was that precedents from, say, the 14th century carry a tad less weight than say, from last year. In iOS terms, what happened in iOS 5 is prehistoric.

I think that if we see a DB3 before the 2 weeks, it’ll be tomorrow with a PB2 a week from the first PB. But I doubt it, I think it’s much more likely to see a DB3 next monday the 2nd

That seems too early. Earlier major versions of iOS Beta 3 were all released closer to July 7-10, but that has less to do with the average "2-3 week rule" and more to do with the holiday schedule. If we knew Apple's 4th of July week shutdown holiday schedule, that would be insightful. My guess is they have Wed-Sun "off", and therefore would avoid releasing a beta before that time, but rather the following Monday (7/9).

If iOS 12 beta 3 doesn’t come today, we will all have to wait till the week of July 9th unfortunately.

As stated above with Apple’s holiday schedule.

May have missed a post, but do we know their internal holiday schedule?

Just on a sidenote -
Actually you don’t need employees to release a software that has been finished long time ago. Can all be done jobtriggered by IT-systems.
Apple is not a grocery store which closes completely - in big IT-companies there is always someone somewhere working also on national holidays and weekends.

Next week is 4th of July in the States - it's a holiday for most companies in the US, and this year, it's on a Wednesday. Skeleton crew for major issues on shipping products, most likely.

This is correct. And U.S. companies do not close for a full week for this or other holidays.

Legally and technically speaking that’s not true. Starie decisis. All of our contract and property laws are the same for the last 800 years. The develop new rules for changing times but the foundation is exactly the same.

I’ll leave it at that because that’s going off topic. But I still disagree. All iOS beta cycles carry equal weight in my opinion. Especially since Apple has returned to the ways of iOS 1-4 after changing in 5/6.

You've never worked for a US auto maker, then, right? :p

Ah, yes, I was aware of the 4th of July per my post you quoted and previous ones :)

I agree most companies are off for a good portion of the week, mandate it as holiday time, or team members take it as optional vacation.

I think we can all agree per the above that despite next week falling within the 2-3 week range, due to time off it's unlikely we'll see a Beta 3 until 7/9.

Difference in date formatting, my friend :)

No beta 3 this week. It seems to me that Apple has July 4 (and possible 5 & 6) off, and so we could see a beta Monday or Tuesday

If Apple has 7/4 - 7/6 off, I would be very surprised if we saw a beta 3 on 7/2 or 7/3. The last thing they would want to do is drop a new beta that could contain severe new bugs before being out of office for 5 days (and then resulting in no vacation time as they rush out a fix). If they were taking off 7/2 - 7/4, I could see a Beta 3 as early as 7/5, but again, I think they will hold it back until 7/9.

My guess now is July 9th unfortunately. :(

I have a calculated guess at 2nd and 3rd as well. Why? Because Apple know lots of people will be on their break, with family and friends and therefore will be on their phones and not socialising.

And, no. I'm not being sarcastic. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case worldwide!

I would say that the 2nd or 3rd seems more plausible than the 9th or 10th even though I am just guessing and know absolutely nothing about apple release schedules!

I think it is more dangerous releasing a beta in the days immediately prior to a holiday as opposed to the days immediately after. Although I hope I am wrong, I have a feeling that we will be seeing the new release the week of the 9th.

Which is strictly because July 4th was a Monday and therefore companies didn’t give the majority of the week off. July 5th was on a Tuesday that year and therefore there was no extended office closure.

Exactly. Same reasoning why we don’t see new betas on Friday’s.
