I'll own up to being one of those naysayers. However IIRC you did not do nearly as much work on your idea as @GreyOS has done. What you had presented was to create a sticky thread that you were only going to update for iOS 12 beta releases. You weren't going to do any of the calculations that are being shown here and you weren't planning on back dating it to cover previous iOS releases. I 100% support what @GreyOS is presenting here, but what you presented wasn't nearly as thought out and that's probably why I and others didn't like it.

Wow who would have thought beta drops would become a science. If I were at Apple, I would mix it up, just to drive everybody crazy. But only within a standard deviation. ;)

Or perhaps you’re just a jerk.

If we had one of these sticky threads for each iOS release we wouldn’t need to do a lot of calculations. But whatever.

I agree, but you did not propose to create a sticky that backdated. You simply wanted to keep track moving forward. I think what you're failing to realize is that the thread that you created which was shot down by more than myself was fairly minimal in data. You appear to even have deleted the thread in question. If you thought it was such a good idea you could have kept updating it and proved us wrong when more data was present.

Here @GreyOS has presented a useful app that backdates and provides interesting information as a result of his data parsing without even creating a separate thread and doesn't come off asking for it to be a sticky.

These are two different things, but sure I'm a jerk for owning up to calling you out and providing the reasons for why I believe this solution is night and day compared to yours for solving the problem.

edit: Some editorial needs.

Frankly I can not read all the replies in the thread but do you expect beta 5 drop today??
I expect today or tomorrow with tomorrow being slightly more likely.

Thanks for your input. You, of course, offered NO solution to the problem, contenting yourself with shooting down mine. But hey, you be you.

And in no way am I denigrating GreyOS’s excellent idea. That will be a big help in the future in resolving these “how long” arguments.

That's false. I offered I think 3 links to sites which I believed were sufficient solutions to the problem you were trying to solve. The real issue was that your solution was not presented in a way in which I could see the value of the data you were trying to collect and you were asking for a sticky. If you put in the work, showcased the value your idea brought to the table, and presented it without expectations it would have been a completely different story.

Now that I can see the value I do believe the idea to track this data and parse it for information is both interesting and useful.

If there is no iOS 11.4.2 or any other old operating system betas to be released, we will get iOS 12 Beta 5 on Monday.
Except that did not happen with beta 4. iOS 11.4.1 was already released on July 16th, yet beta 4 dropped on the Tuesday. Apple is clearly following Tuesday for these betas.

I’m leaning towards thinking Apple generally aim to get something out on Monday. It’s the start of the week, it’s clean and simple, people are refreshed and have time to tackle any launch issues.

But if there is a delay in testing, last minute issues crop up, or they’re just busy it gets pushed back, usually a day, maybe two days. I’m not sure they pick Tuesday. Just my feeling at the moment

P.S. I have seen some of the discussion/debate/requests about a release dates sticky etc. I'm not sure of the best way to present the data or what people want from it (there are lots of ways to look at it!). At the moment I'm just slowly inputting release info in a way I can process it, which is keeping me busy in spare moments. Unlike some I do think there would be value in even just a simple timeline of our own. What I'm working on could definitely help produce that. (Don't worry, it doesn't have to look like a console table!)

Little tit bit, but looking at all iOS releases (beta and final) between 10.0 Beta 1 and 12.0 Beta 4, 43.9% are on a Monday. Next closest is Tuesday, which has less than half of that. And of those releases which had betas, the median and mode number of days between their beta releases was 7. The second mode was 14. IMO their goal is simply a weekly or fortnightly Monday release...
