my guess is they release TVOS, MACOS beta 8s on Monday to bring it in line... and then wait till next monday to release iOS beta 9.... so 12 days.

I'd like to think today's update was solely for the fix to Beta 7 and that the next beta is still scheduled for Monday. I can't imagine it would take a lot of effort to build the fix into each subsequent beta since it only took two days to get it out.

This is, of course, assuming they were actually able to fix whatever was causing the issue.

I don't think Apple cares about the number following the beta. The determinant will be if they think they have enough info from this build (which might contain code they want to expose to testing that's different from subsequent builds). If 5 days is not enough exposure time, then I think they'll delay the next beta. If they don't care, then I think they'll ship as planned, likely Monday again. Remember, they are working back from the public release date. That is not going to slip unless there is a monumental problem.

I second this, everyone should remember that iOS 11 finished with an extra beta in comparison to High sierra. Beta numbers aren't mutual across platforms.

In two minds about whether we’ll have a same day PB like we did following the last successful DP or if Apple are now a bit more cautious and will hold out till tomorrow. 3 hours should be enough to gauge the DP reaction though!

No one needs to remember that because no one compares iOS betas to macOS betas

Edit: except if I’d read the thread I’d have seen someone did...

You should read back a page or two, seeing how there have been multiple questions as to whether apple will wait a week for iOS DB 9 or not. Thanks for coming out though.

It the beta was pulled, clearly there was a substantial issue.
Not to quibble (but I'll quibble): a substantial issue is not the same as "so broken a majority of users can't test it". I'd venture to say that once everyone got past the initial sluggishness, there was no big issue at all for most.

Again, my point is: let's not use extreme terminology to describe these things. We get enough of that on here already.

I’d like to know as well. I’m anxiously awaiting a new build(test driving and trying to find bugs is kind of fun to me)

Not here to quibble. You can’t deny Apple pulled beta 7 due to widespread issues, which extremely accelerated beta 8. They otherwise do not issue betas that frequently.

Right, but that's significantly different than "so broken a majority of users can't test it".

If the Welcome Screen had a green background and purple text, and this was discovered during the first hour of a developer beta, I suspect Apple would have pulled it also. The phone is still perfectly usable, but this is a significant enough deviation from what is expected that I suspect Apple would pull the beta and reissue.

That's it for me on this topic.

Beta 7 was absolutely perfect... now I'm having issues with Beta 8. I knew this was going to happen.

what kind of issues? serious ones?

Can’t make phone calls it just hangs frozen on the calling screen... when tapping on things in settings screen goes black I have to lock unlock the phone to get it working... and a few resprings and freezing on the home screen

Had absolutely 0 issues on beta 7
