No. Public beta testers have never gotten the GM. They have to wait for public release.

Don’t mind me.

So , if for exemple I have a Developper profile on my phone I will be able to download the GM OTA?
The past years if I remember well I had only PB profile and I downloaded the IPSW

You sure about that?

Same day as developers for iOS 11: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/12/ios-11-golden-master-developers

Day after developers (but still before public release) for iOS 10: https://www.macrumors.com/2016/09/08/apple-releases-ios-10-gm-for-public-beta-testers/
I stand corrected. My apologies. I Wonder what I am thinking of.

Being that I was incorrect and PB does get GM, then the answer should be yes. It should be available for OTA.

I think this was new last year. We were surprised at the time if I recall correctly.

Possibly: no first beta, no IPSWs

I posted two links, covering iOS 10 and 11. It may have been new to get GM with iOS 10 but a pattern of “no GM > GM day after > GM same day” suggests to me we’re more likely than ever to get it the same day this year.

I'm not one for attacking people's opinions most days.

Lucky for me, I skipped the betas that had the major issues and am really basing my opinion off of the last two. I think it's safe to assume the GM will be fairly similar to what is available now since it seems we're done with betas for this version.

with the exception of the update pop-up the last 2 have been pretty solid, I agree. It looks like they ironed out most bugs. All in all I think its going to be a really good public release version this year.

I’m happy with the latest beta and mostly want the GM so all the beta stuff gets cleaned out... because it will (without full reinstall), will it?

If you keep the beta profile installed you will still get iOS 12.1 beta as soon as it is seeded, with the same beta “extras”.

If you want to leave the beta track altogether, you can just remove the beta profile once iOS 12 is released for everybody and then do a clean install via restore (with iTunes). This is what I did after the previous big beta cycles (iOS 10 and 11). Works really well and then you can do OTA updates for 12.1, 12.2, etc.

If the GM still has messed up activity badge tracking and the default sounds/vibrations for mail being wrong under notifications I’ll be disappointed.

So no, in my opinion it really isn’t good enough to be GM.

Fixed that for ya. I couldn't care less about activity badge tracking and the default Mail app has always been garbage.

Do I really have to restore via iTunes?

My assistant app remained from last beta, I had removed the profile and did a complete reinstall but it somehow stayed.
Removing the beta profile from your device won't remove the feedback app. You have to log in to apple's developer beta program website and click "leave program". :)

This is probably the cleanest way. If you just remove the beta profile, you will be installing the general public releases on top of what you already had on your device, which is probably an iOS 12 beta? Flashing it with iTunes just gives us an extra “comfort” of having a totally clean iOS installation, so it runs as well as it possibly can on any supported device.

If you totally wipe your device, it will still ask you to connect to iTunes, which will then offer you to set it up as new or restore from an existing iTunes/iCloud backup. Same for going through a DFU mode. The only exception I can think of is when you buy a new device already running the iOS 12 and then you can just populate it from your iCloud backup. This can take a while, though, depending on the amount of data that you need to transfer and your internet speed.

Don’t remember having to leave the beta program by logging into any websites last year, but I was on a public beta, so perhaps it is different. As soon as I deleted the beta profile and restarted the device the feedback app was gone.

I am not sure if there is s second way or a faster way but last year I was trying to get rid of the feedback app by deleting the beta profile restarting etc and nada the app was still there. I made a small research and found that you have to "unlink" your Apple ID from the beta program for the feedback app to go away. I tried it and it worked.

The website is this one: https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/

That Apple website tells us to uninstall the beta profile:

https://beta.apple.com/sp/en/betaprogram/unenroll

At the bottom it also explains how to leave the beta program altogether and what happens then (no emails about new betas and no feedback via the app). However, I am sure I did not leave the beta program last year, just simply removed the beta profile and was good to go.

Either way, we’ll find out how it all works in a few weeks from now. ;)

However... In November i will get my iPhone XS Plus/Max or however the name will be. Does the iCloud backup only has the installed app and it’s files or also the saved analytic data’s?
