Guesses based on history would indicate GM release for...

3rd Party Developers: September 12
Public Beta Testers: September 12-13
General Public: September 18-19

Actual GM code has likely been frozen since the end of August, since it has to go into the new devices in production. This is corroborated by the iOS 11 GM leak a week before the September 2017 event.
Is this why no beta this week. Beta 12 is being released into production? At least on my 6s it’s definitely good enough.

Yeah GM released to developers to give them a week to finish updating their apps for iOS 12 ready for the public release next week.

GM barring any last minute issues will be the same as the public release.

I was ready to get the GM today, but I just realized that the event is tomorrow. I didn't think it was on a Wednesday.

I think typically it would be a Tuesday falling on a non-labor day week, however the thinking is it was moved to Wednesday due to the significance of September 11th and Apple not wanting to be introducing new products on such a somber day in history.

Do third party apps usually start getting updated with new iOS functionalities once the GM is released or when the OS is officially released to the public?
I'm really looking forward to google maps and waze on carplay. Really hope those show up right away with iOS 12 and not at some later date. Not sure if there's any info on this subject.

Usually Apple start approving apps a little ahead of the public release but I’m not aware of a hard and fast rule.

Of course, that’s a separate matter to whether Google will have Google Maps or Waze updates available at the earliest possible moment.

Developers can’t submit iOS 12 targeted apps until Xcode GM is released which should be tomorrow, so iOS 12 apps should be available when the public get iOS 12 next week.

Yeah, I knew the event was September 12, but I thought it was today because it always falls on Tuesday. The September 11th thing makes sense.

Gonna be so many app updates! I myself will be putting out updates for 3 of my apps

So... with tomorrow fast approaching. :)

What time do you think iOS 12 will drop! (Try exact time, not after announcements). :)
Depends on how long the event is. So it’s impossible to say. Some events are 90 minutes and some have been over 2 hours.

Likely between 12:15-1:45pm PDT.

Well I'm expecting around 10AM on the 18th(might be the 19th) for iOS 12 to drop.

The GM of iOS 12 will drop after the event ends so likely just after 12 pacific given a 2 hour run time for the event. It could run a bit longer than that though which could delay it a bit.

I have imported the event from Apple's website to my calendar and they have preset the settings of the event for 2 hours. So 100% 2 hours + a possible delay 15-30 mins. :)

It's probably just an App Store configuration mistake by Apple. But..

I noticed today that the Measure app showed up on my iPhone 5s (called "Meten" in Dutch). I first thought it disappeared after tapping. But the app can still be found, and actually opened through search. There is no ARKit on the iPhone 5s, so it's doesn't do a whole lot, but it certainly can be installed and run.

Who knows there will be a little surprise tomorrow at the presentation

(but eh, maybe I'm secretly a Photoshop wizard, you don't know..)

So no public release of iOS 12 tomorrow?

So no public release of iOS 12 tomorrow?
Not for the general public no, public and developer beta profiles and I'm sure the IPSW files will end up on the internet.

You know developers are going to have to test against the GM right, Apple gives them a week to get ready, so you know when the general public get iOS 12 they can get app updates?
