I don’t know why everyone assume that Apple will release an update just a few days after releasing 12.0.0. Last year there were 2-3 updates in 2 weeks which was kinda stupid, because you cannot make users update their OS every day. Obviously it has been urgent if they’ve done it this way. We know that the gm was finished several days before the actual release so if there was something urgent they could’ve just released 12.0.1 as they did two years ago with iOS 10. The issues that most people are reporting are not something serious so everyone can wait a month for 12.1. What’s more, people on this forum, who say that iOS 12.0.1 should be released soon, are already on 12.1 beta, so I just don’t understand what the problem is.

iOS is not the only thing that needs a bug fix release either.. watchOS 5.0.1 is needed so they probably busy working on that too.

For 5 years now, X.0.1 has dropped within 8 days of the public release of x.0. Additionally, I am not on 12.1.

i know they usually follow a pattern when they release updates at 10:00 AM PST
but maybe they will release this one at a off time... whenever its ready. wishful thinking on my part but its probably not coming till October 1st at the earliest like I said before.

Jesus apple what is taking yall so long to drop a dang update
As always, they'll release when they feel it's ready.

At the same time, over the last few years, Apple has been showing that potential historical patterns are basically not an indicator of much one way or another.

Comparing changes in beta schedules to public release is a little too far removed in my opinion.

This doesn’t mean it should be like that or that it’ll be like that forever.

From what I see, most people experience just worst connectivity rather than no connection at all, so the devices are still usable. I have issues with Viber, dunno if it’s because of Viber or something else, but I can survive.

You were the one who brought up updates coming out so quickly after X.0 and you only mentioned iOS 10/11. I mentioned 5 years to prove its not a one or two time deal, its happened at least 5 times. I haven't had the time to look up iOS 1-6, but I'm sure it has happened then as well.

As for connection issues, I'm 1-2 bars less everywhere I go. Therefore, places that only had 1-2 bars with to begin with is no "No Service". So its definitely an issue.

I hate when people make it seem like just because its not an issue to them then its simply not an issue.

Not sure "taking so long" really syncs up with the previous update being out just over a week ago.

the previous update was completed in mid august to be put on the new iphones.
That doesn't really say much about this update where they would usually want to gather more info from devices and reports of potential issues once the update is actually out and people are using it, which only happened last week. A final GM for a major version that has been going through many betas over a period of months is fairly different than a bug fix (essentially a patch) release.

It needs an iOS update, not watchOS. Apple support article states iOS update.

maybe we will get lucky and they will release an iOS update today too along side watchOS even though the article does not mention anything about iOS getting a update today. this update is being released at an odd time, not the typical 10 am PST.

I guess 9to5mac has the inside scoop and we should just wait for them to announce 12.0.1 being released. then we will have a better idea when its coming.

If you haven't noticed, all other software like watchOS, macOS and tvOS all in beta development with .1 release and still tvOS and watchOS received a .0.1 release. Normally, .0.1 release will be incorporated into the next beta. It is possible iOS will receive a 12.0.1 release as well. We can all justify and speculate a release but only Apple can warrant if such release is important for the public. There will always be an "update".
