It’ll show the GM and not 13.1 b2? I know in the past it would show the GM but then there wasn’t another beta cycle in the works simultaneously.

You nailed it with the last sentence. We don’t know what the GM will be: 13.0 or 13.1. If the latter, it’ll work the normal way. If the former, Apple will have to work some magic to allow people using the 13.1 beta to “revert” to a 13.0 GM.

I suspect that Apple will pull the 13.1b2 from being available OTA when the release the GM on the 10th. This allows anyone not running iOS 13.1 to update to 13.0 GM. 13.1 beta IPSW’s will still be available on the dev portal for them to download.

Then when iOS 13b3 is ready, which I’m guessing will be the 17th, that’ll be available OTA via the profile.

Yes, this means that people who decided not to hop off the beta train when 13.1 came out either wipe and start from scratch or stay on the beta train until 13.1 is released, but since that will probably be October, that’s not that long to wait.

I do suspect that the reason the build number still starts with 17A, is to allow the people on 13.1 b1/2 to go onto 13.0 GM. Then the 13.1 beta changes to 17B or something with Beta 3.

Since them doing 13.1 betas before 13.0 is released was something no one expected, means that all of what I said is very plausible, just as plausible as Apple rushing a 13.1 release to be GM on the 10th, despite a lot of issues being noted in this B2 issues thread.

I see we’ve reverted to discussing 13.0 vs 13.1 instead of the topic of the thread title.

Glorious. Let me help:

Shoot. I thought that’s where this was. Sorry!
I know. Super confusing.

Anyhoo. After a couple days the only issue I’m having is the blank screen after archiving/deleting an email and it only seems to happen occasionally rather than every time like it was initially. I’ve also developed a liking for the haptic touch upgrade especially when it comes to positioning the cursor as I don’t have the jump when releasing like it does with 3D Touch. Overall pretty happy with this beta.

So this is why I’m asking if I stay with iOS 12.4 and install only the Beta Profile, will I be able to see the final candidate on Tuesday, without installing the current betas?

If you managed to last on iOS 12.4 until now, why bother with the betas at all? The official polished iOS 13 should be out for the whole world around 17-18 Sep, so why not install the real thing then?

Polished? Hahahaha no version of any iOS is actually really polished until 10/11 months after initial release in .3 or .4 versions. Is 12.4 not a polished version of 12.0? It is, at least as much as it will ever be.

You are making this way too complicated. The GM will be out in 2 days, just install that and forget about this whole beta 8 vs PB2 mess.

Furthermore, we have no idea what the "GM" will be this year... typically, the GM comes out followed by the GA release... then the next round of betas start... not sure that Apple even "finished" iOS 13.0... we will know better on Tuesday... but at this point, just stay where you are and wait for Tuesday.

Ugh. This is one update I'll wait to install on my other devices based on what I have experienced. I don't trust the GM at this point.
iOS 13.1 is extremely polished in its current state unless the sole function of your iPhone is email with the stock Mail app. Even then you could get by with a few minor annoyances.

12.4.1 is out of date. I lingered up until a few days ago and now that I’ve updated I realize my hang ups on 3D Touch and stability in general were misplaced. Haptic Touch is just as, if not more effective and intuitive and the dark mode option is a bonus.

Any idea why there are many apps missing from the Open App automations list? For example I can’t select Outlook to open if I open Mail app because it’s just not in the list. Same with camera.

Do the apps have to be updated to support this or is Apple limiting this feature?

The list of available apps is pretty short

Anybody?

There are a lot of people with major batter draining issues going on with 13.1 beta 2. I’ve never had this before in any beta, ever. If not installed any new apps in the last few months of changed my habits, get in 3 hours or so, I lost 75% with no apps open, screen off and locked. There are others with similar experiences. iOS 13 b8 was better for me.

I’d expect this to be resolved, but if I was aware of this going in, I’d have skipped it.

I would say a handful would be more accurate than a lot. If it was all that widespread there would be online articles and twitter would be talking about it.

And the reason they’re experiencing “a drain” is because they’re using their phones more to test the new software

Or alternatively they’ll just leave 13.1ers on the Beta cycle until the official release of 13.1 which is why I’ve held off on the last Beta of 13.

It’s unprecedented.

We really need to move this to the Speculation thread.

That might be a very small part of it. There also could be issues where certain apps are not yet optimized for the new release... and there's always the possibility of "stuck" processes... but I am testing and play a lit more with my phone at this point, and my battery life is decent to good.

Ive tested betas for a long time. I’ve never had the level of drain in ANY beta, like I had in iOS 13.1 b2. 75% in 3 hours with the phone not being used is not normal for a beta..... your condescension based on being ignorant of what’s been posted is glaring.

All Inboxes stopped working after I disabled iCloud Mail sync and re-enabled it. All Inboxes now show only mails from my exchange account.

This is a behavior not a bug. Has been around in iOS 12. This behavior doesn’t go together, in thinking clearing them marks them as read. Apple probably wants the end user to physically make you go into messages and read them. Therefore, then marks, “read” = No badge count. So, you don’t overlook not seeing a message.

Oh really?? I swear it would still mark them as read when swiping to clear in iOS 12. What you say makes sense, but it only recently started not marking messages as read on the 13 betas for me.

Thanks!

iPhone 6S, 13.1 b2, battery life as good as it was in iOS12 (i.e. much better than iOS 11).

Yea, this is much better than iOS 11 or 12.... losing 75% in 3 hours or so, whilst no apps running and the screen was locked, display off and not used, whilst I was at work. No new apps in months and never had it drain this bad, in fact, I’ve never had issues with draining on betas before.

Have you rebooted your iPhone?
