This is honestly seeming to get stranger and stranger to me.
I'm not sure what's strange to you about a beta release. Do you mean because of the 13.1 thing before 13.0? It's because they needed to flash devices with 13.0 to ship them, so they removed features that were not ready, and have pushed out 13.1 to reintroduce them.

Still preparing on my XS Max, hoping to see another Watch OS beta and would be happy for Catalina to get another build to smooth out more rough edges.

The release notes say that side car won’t work until a new beta of Catalina, so we will definitely see another.

It’s not happening as ios 13 is already flashed on the new iPhones.
That‘s why they have to go for 13.1, cause it introduces new major features. Apple probably had to install beta 8 level version on the new devices weeks ago to evade potential tariffs. The new phones ship with the barely stable beta 8 as GM and get a day 1 update to the „new GM“ 13.1.

The going theory is that we never see 13.0 (only installed as default on new iPhones), going straight to 13.1 in 2 weeks.
That's a hella stretch, remember, you are posting in the 13.1 Beta 2 thread. Is it impossible? No. It's it improbable? Hella.

Most likely there will be a 13.0 release followed shortly after by a 13.1 release. Probably a month later or so.

We will know next week when they either release a 13 GM or not. That‘s the deadline though cause developers need a target to compile their apps against. I‘ll put all my money on 13.1 being the release cause in ALL THE BETA YEARS, there has NEVER before been a case where a point release beta gets pushed out before a GM.

Tariffs that went into effect 4 days ago only hit the watch, Airpods and Homepod. iPhone will potentially be impacted on the next round that hits December 15th.

So they are going to make a bunch of people on public beta wipe their devices and start from new when they officially release iOS 13? They have never done that.

Never seen that before

It's still strange. We had something similar with iOS 10.0. iOS 10 was only on the new phone, but the release version was 10.0.1. And that was only done because of a bricking issue. The fact that they are jumping straight to 13.1 is strange.

Now, that’s just far too reasonable. The level of conjecture about 13.1 replacing 13.0 is hysterical.

You greatly overestimate how much that matters.

If the tariffs theory is true they probably made that decision before August even started. Back then their fortune teller was probably on vacation and couldn‘t scratch any potential last minute surprise temper tantrum of the biggest cowboy in town off of their worries list I guess?
