I am wondering if this email issue isn’t something on Apples end with their server’s or ISP issue? Only reason I say that is I was at the Apple Store in Raleigh NC and the Geniuses lol we’re bitching about getting replies from Apple for RMA’s were taking longer and longer to get and internal emails were showing up to 1 hour after the sent stamp on the email. I piped up and said Gee that sounds like the issues with IOS 13 and the phones. They very quickly shut up.

Makes you wonder ....
IPP 12.9 G2
Mail has 5 accounts: 3 Gmail, 1 iCloud, 1 Exchange
1 Exchange and 1 Gmail have signatures

Issues noted since update to B3:
  • Says I have unread emails: some Exchange emails do show when opening app. Most everything does not and takes 1-10 seconds to download
  • From the Unread All option I deleted 12 emails. A few minutes later Mail said I had unread emails - 4 were emails I just deleted
  • An email from Chase (Gmail) would not become "unread" until I selected Edit>email>Mark Unread. The email was nothing special - just an alert my cc payment had posted
  • When responding to emails, if I switch from a non-sig account to a sig account, the signature does not show
  • After reading an email and it becomes "read", it takes a while, in some cases it never occurs, for the same email to become "read" on other devices (iPhone, MB)
  • By the same token, a Gmail account on the Gmail app shows none of these issues. My account in ProtonMail also shows no issues.
Mail is a mess and I am not seeing any real improvement with this beta.

I am in the midst of swapping from an XS Max (B2) to an IP 11 Max - what a mess and another tale.

Noticed cellular is more unstable: radio randomly restarts and starts searching for signal.

Going to settings then general, you will feel a random haptic feedback.

Otherwise beta is just ok.

I'm going to have to retract my statement. On iOS 13.3.1 beta 2 it was better. On beta 3 I am having to wait longer than I ever did. This is not scientific but preliminary observation today suggests that whenever I open Mail, 2 emails are ready for viewing while the remaining feel as if they are fetched right then.

Agreed. Not fixed. Most of the “download times” after the app has been launched are now 1-2 seconds. Occasionally I’ll get one that hands for 6-8 seconds.

Yes. 6-8 seconds sounds about right. On this beta I am seeing this delay more than I ever did. Mail, for me, keeps 2 emails ready for viewing but downloads the remaining on-the-fly, it seems. I wonder what is going on in the background.

Always nice to see another Carolinian on here!

Do you have multiple email accounts in your stock Mail app - at least one with a signature and on without?

So you’re saying that if you’re composing an email from an account *without* a signature...and then tap the “From” field to switch to an account *with* a signature...the signature will suddenly appear?

Any way to record this so I can see? I’ve done numerous restores and set up the phone from scratch and this issue always persists.

Yes that is correct. This is on the iPad though so I don’t know If that matters. I can post a video later for you as well.

Yeah, I’m very curious about this. Someone a few posts back mentioned that they were having the same issue as me. Would love to know if it’s an iPad vs iPhone thing.

Thanks!

Indeed.

I've noticed it's mostly Exchange users that have these problems, which makes me think it could be an issue on Microsoft's end. I run my own E-mail domain and have no issues, and work E-mail (not Exchange) has no issues either.

It definitely works without issue. I can’t really film it as I don’t want my email address and contact info out there but it works like it should.

Apple has just historically had lots of issues with Exchange support. Other platforms, and indeed, apps on iOS don't have issues, so it's really just an issue with how Apple implements Exchange support in their own apps.

But that's just it - it happens on other accounts as well - not only Exchange. My exchange/O365 works perfectly for some reason, but my iCloud account does not. Delivery delays, hanging on "Checking for mail...", and more. I can temporarily fix it, but it always comes back, sometimes right away, and sometimes a few hours later.
There are several threads in this forum and elsewhere discussing these issues. Yes many Exchange accounts are affected, but also Gmail, Yahoo mail, iCloud, etc., etc.

The person I replied to was suggesting that it was an issue with Exchange itself, so my reply was very specifically about that. GMail, Yahoo, iCloud, etc are not Exchange.

Why not just add a signature of some sort to all accts? If thats whats causing it at least its a workaround. For the record, I have 3 acts in stock mail app and it changes sig whenever I change the send from to the correct one.

[Edit] I deleted one that was basic and it does keep the last one selected when that acct is chosen. I guess its just not replacing text with nothing. Even just a "." will make it work right.

Gmail stopped supporting push in Apples mail app years ago. So mark that one off the list affected. :)

...because A) I don’t want my work email signature attached to personal emails sent from my gmail account, and B) we shouldn’t be forced to find *workarounds* for basic mail functions. What happened to “Apple: it just works”?

Out of curiosity, are you on an iPhone or an iPad?

EDIT: you’re right - if I set my gmail account signature to be something as simple as a “.” everything works fine.

Simply having no signature at all is what breaks it. Now that I know that, I’ll file a new, more detailed bug report for them to ignore.

Thanks!

I am using iPhone. Dont really use iPad for mail. Not following this "A) I don’t want my work email signature attached to personal emails sent from my gmail account". You should set up separate signatures for work and personal accounts. So personal mails will have that sig and work email will have work sig.. And for "B" I get that maybe we shouldn't HAVE to but its a viable work around just as deleting the signature before sending a particular email would be until its sorted out. The "It Just Works" days are over I am afraid. Left with Jobs and Forstall it seems.

Yeah - I misread your post and thought you were suggesting that I use the same signature for all accounts, which would be crazy!

At the time, I didn’t realize that simply having one email account without a signature was causing the problem. Now that I understand the more detailed issue, I see what you mean. The issue really isn’t a big deal at all, since I rarely ever switch accounts while composing an email...I just get annoyed when things don’t work the way they’re supposed to.

But, yeah, it stinks that you need a workaround like that because the app won’t function correctly if you simply don’t want to use a signature for one of your email accounts.

<sigh> I guess this is the current state of Apple, though. Too bad.

Walked into restaurant and tried to download their app from App Store. Frozen internet and non-responsive App Store. Fix: Turn Airplane Mode on-off and then, everything worked as it should.

Freezing internet should not be happening. Report sent to Apple.

I'm having an issue with my S4 apple watch not syncing notifications and contacts within group chats correctly. Hoping that reverting back to 13.3 fixes. If not, I'll unpair and re-pair.

Every time I change the eSim / sim label name under cellular it eventually changes back to primary and secondary. My secondary is a physical sim.

this has been happening since iOS 13. Rather annoying, sent bug to Apple and of course nothing.

anyone else notice this?
Not seeing this on my 11 Pro

iPhone XS draining prolong, devices tend to overheat. Anybody having the same issue, battery drain on idle mode

My iPhone just showed the time as 16:17 in the left corner and I noticed WhatsApp showed last seen of my bf as 16:19 so I was like huh??? is he from the future? So I checked the Lockscreen and it showed the correct time of 16:20. went back to the home screen and it still said 16:17.

eventually it jumped from 16:17 straight to 16:22. weird!

So this thread has been completely derailed over a 0.01 difference is IPSW size. Any way the mods can clean this up?

I don't think they clean it up, unless you report it. But we can simply change back to the original topic? ;-)

I'm using this Beta on my iPhone XR now and so far i'm happy with the battery life and don't have any huges issues. My battery isn't draining anymore like in the beta before, the apps don't crash and i haven't had any freeze yet.

Have you had poor battery life on 13.3? (or all the 13.x versions). I have not installed on XR as iOS 13 in general doesn't seem so great so don't want to further cripple phone with beta software. But I have noticed battery on the XR used to be superb but since 13 its just ok.

Same here. I’ve got 1 Exchange account along with my iCloud account, 3 Gmail accounts, a Yahoo account, an Outlook.com account, and an IMAP account. I’ve only seen worse performance over time with every release- official or beta releases... Its my iCloud account I find I have the most problems with. That, along with the “All Inboxes” folder. The (still open) Radar I filed with Apple back in mid-August is still open with a note at the top saying a fix might be available in iOS 13. How many releases of iOS 13 have been released now? Not including the initial Dev betas before the official release of iOS 13 (not iOS 13.1)?

The Beta 2 had a huge battery drain on my phone. It was between 10-15% each night while using no apps using and just leaving the phone as it is. Even no push enabled and not connected to Wifi the drain was huge, now it's back to 2-5% per Night (usually 8hrs).
