Quick question that I didn’t think was worth of its own thread (I’ve tried searching the forum and Googling but haven’t found a definitive answer anywhere) -

So say I’ve got dark mode turned on, and it has that gorgeous dark keyboard. If I go into an app that isn’t optimised for dark mode, am I still getting the dark keyboard?
No

I'm having this little bug happen, and wondering if others are. My folders go from dark mode black, to light mode white when I click on them. And some of the folders are white and the rest are black, so there's no continuity to how the folders look right now. Anyone else having this bug?
Yes seen this a few times but haven't had chance to report it

Is anyone else missing their lock screen controls for the camera and flashlight? Bug or legit gone?

yes i did report this bug, i also found that sometimes folders “stick” to the home screen and duplicate on top of themselves so when u locking, it’s a weird animation.

OK, is this new?... Listening to music on my Airpods. Removing BOTH AirPods pauses and music resumes when I put them back in. I thought I had to hit play to resume when removing both on iOS 12 but could be imagining it!

I backed up and took the plunge on my 6S Plus just to see how it operates and I’m pleasantly surprised at how stable it is for a first beta even on an older device at the bottom of the supported list. It’s still as fast for almost everything and some things are faster, like Safari, installing apps, and touchID. Even CarPlay works quickly. The new CarPlay Dashboard is fantastic and being able to use the device and apps without it changing what’s on CarPlay is fantastic. It’s pretty much the only 2 things my wife and I wanted changed. All my work stuff seems to work (including Mail) so I’m going to stay on it unless another beta drastically alters usability. Remember, there’s always that chance. Anyway, it’s perfectly usable and iOS finally feels like it’s a decent replacement for MacOS for most people (there, I said it). It’s certainly more usable and stable than all of iOS 11’s public releases.

Oh and for those that are worried about 3D Touch missing, it’s not as bad as I’d read and it still works for me on the keyboard. Long pressing over a letter does nothing but pop up the preview. Pressing down invokes the cursor movement, pressing harder still selects words (see gif). The only slightly annoying thing is getting a home screen app shortcut menu to appear. It takes a bit of getting used to.

They said you have to use the shrunken keyboard on the iPad to use the swipe feature. I would rather have the option to swipe with the full size keyboard though.

I enjoy having options. But in my opinion, having a swipe feature on a large display such as the iPads, doesn't make much sense.

A large area that size doesn't benefit from the new QuickPath feature of iOS 13.

It looks like now with the intelligent battery charging when the smart case is on the phone battery doesn’t go over 80%. Had it in the case since morning when both were 100%.

Not for me. My XS Max stays at 100% until the case is dead.

What was even weirder was that at a point the case just stayed at 10% and the phone was dropping . Took it out around 60% and I see a fast drop now as I’m at 20% already.

Just tried this out on 12.4. If you take both out and put them back in, play resumes without the need to hit the play button.

Asking here in case anyone has thoughts/something I've missed - is there an easier way to 'heart' a song rather than scrolling all the way down in that ellipses menu?? It seems odd that Apple would bury this feature.

I thought it was "smart" because it charges based on when you typically charge the phone/plug it in?

If you only plug your phone in at the end of the day and charge overnight, it will keep it at 80% until right before it knows you typically unplug the phone. If you charge it sporadically throughout the day, it will most likely explain why it is going to 100% because it knows you may unplug at any moment.

I haven’t found another way. I just moved all the music stuff to the top, love being to top most. I’m guessing by the GM it’ll be at the top by default.

Very cool that you can customize it now but I hope they change it, it looks pretty ugly. And it's even more ugly when trying to love a song in CarPlay while in Light Mode. Lol

Ew, I haven’t tried Loving in CarPlay yet.

I‘m not terrible happy with the new menu but I understand why they did it. Adding sharing to Messages as an up front feature is going to save me a bunch of time. No more tapping share, then messages, then typing a name. I love that.

[EDIT]
Yeah, Loving in CP is obviously not done yet, lol.

Agree. Not fan of the share sheet here or in Safari either. Seems strange to be presented with my Siri shortcuts that do not relate to those apps

Day 2:

Almost the same! Its 16 hours ago until I was at 100%, I‘m down to 14% now.

I will look forward to day 3 but my Xs seems to get 18-19 hours of usage with this first beta.

For day 3 I will setup a pure black wallpaper, lets see how much I can stretch my battery

Day 3 with pure black wallpaper:

13 hours ago I was at 100% and I‘m at 50% now. Thats huge.

All day battery life on xs

Doubtful this is going to remain the same for the final release. It's probably a beta bug until they refine the list that should show up for each share sheet as they move through the beta.

Sorry if this is a repeat but, didn't have time to read through 54 pages. I've noticed the following
  • The count on the badge for emails sometimes is wrong
  • When swiping to delete an email, it then opens the next email
  • Some notifications don't populate a preview

I don't use Apple mail myself but there's been a number of posts suggesting it's pretty messed up. If it's causing you major issues and it's possible in your scenario you might consider changing mail clients, at least temporarily. I use Outlook and it's functioning fine.

I went gung ho on all my devices iPad Pro 11 Apple Watch series 4 and Xs max I love the new CarPlay and maps etc Face ID is lightning fast now I have had no resprings etc I’m super impressed for beta 1

For the ones who use WhatsApp, mine is disconnecting all the time from WhatsApp web, most of the times when I open the app it restarted the app like it has been close.
Also, a lot of apps restart all the time when they are in background, like the ram management don't work.
- iPhone XS Max.
* Battery life has been great (no pure black wallpapers, but dark mode enabled).

Anyone else having issues keeping the hotspot on? This happens every year so I wouldn’t doubt it
