regarding #2 there is no delete button anymore.
So there isn't! The delete option is still available on the MacOS version (right-click the photo after selecting "details"). However, the original method still works. Long press the photo (or any message) directly in the message history, select "More" then select all the messages/photos you wish to delete.

I agree.

All the talk pre-iOS 13 was that this would be a system-wide dark mode and I had anticipated Apple “forcing” this across the vast majority of the UI (as you say) with the notable exception of 3rd party Apps of course. Even those would have the opportunity to be dark though with a DevKit release.

it’s so disjointed in its current form.

I disagree. I work with a team on a non-profit that supports our mobile app and website. It looks the way it looks because that's what we want it to look. We designed it purposefully to look that way. We don't want Apple coming along and forcing anything in our app related to the way it looks or the way it functions. But for Apple to arbitrarily force us (or worse, apply some algorithm that forces) our design to change is just flat wrong. It is not what we signed on for, and it is not, AFAIK, stated in any ToS to which we agreed to allow it.

For Apps, it should definitely be Developer’s choice.

For “sites” / web based content and the iOS UI , I disagree. These all come under the system-wide banner for me and should be Dark when Dark Mode is enabled.

Again, even related to websites... ours looks like it looks because it's how we designed it to look. We don't want Apple (or Google/Android) changing it to meet some arbitrary color scheme of their choosing. It's our design. We should be allowed to maintain our personal preferences with the design.

If Apple continue this approach through to release, there will be far more complaints about the inconsistent mess it currently is than there ever would be if Apple took this truly system-wide.

We need to remember that this is a user selectable feature.

Those that have been looking forward to Dark Mode since iOS 7, like me, have always wanted it mandated across as many aspects of the UI as possible.

For those that aren’t bothered about it, the future will remain “bright” as the default of course is Dark Mode set to off.

The option to use dark mode on your device is your choice. But the design, look and feel of a website or app is NOT your choice. It is the choice of the owner's design team. The only choice the end user has with regard to our website or app is whether or not to use it. In most cases, the design is quite complex, and suggesting that it can or should be modified by a system-wide, universal switch ignores our design choice and constricts our ability to communicate our message fully and effectively.

It in fact does not work better this way but rather fragments the entire iOS into a confusing mess.

What happens when older apps that people still use are not updated to support dark mode? It’s going to be jarring to see a dark keyboard and then not one. Over and over and over if the app developers choose not to support it. That’s better?

This has always been the case. There are apps that show black borders on iPhone and iPads, apps that are blurry as they don’t support the device resolution, haven’t updated to use many of the latest iOS features spanning many years. This will be the case with dark mode as well.

The benefits with that Apple as implemented a system wide dark mode feature is that there is a toggle in control center that can control all installed apps instead of digging into each app to change it according to tour mood. You can even set it to change automatically or by Siri or shortcuts. Apps just have to update as they always have.

And you know what to do when a developers has abandoned their app? You do as well by deleting it and finding an app where there’s still active development.

Cannot watch live baseball on the MLB at bat app with the latest beta on both iPhone XS and IPP 11. Any others having this issue?

If I tap the gameplay link the app freezes. Also, in the Yahoo Sports app, if I tap the STATS link from the scores page, it locks up as well.

ITT: People with no idea how web development and brand identity works requesting forced dark modes for sites.

Not happening, get over it.

EXACTLY.

FaceTime photos are larger than they should be. What you see during the call is not what you see when you take a photo. The photo seems to be zoomed in. At least 2-4x. This has been going on since B2/3 I believe. Anyone else notice this? It affects both ends of the call.

Yep. I told mlb support. Tried to explain to them that I was just letting them know so they could look into it, and I didn’t want anything from them because obviously I should not expect things to work perfectly with beta OS, but they didn’t get it. They kept trying to give me advice on how to fix it. (Reboot device!)

Same issue for me. Will report to Apple.

Apps do not "support smart invert colors" at all and that's entirely the point of the approach being taken by Apple here. No system wide attempt to force content to be dark that wasn't designed that way is ever going to be 100% successful, whether it's a browser extension or an OS level feature. It does not and cannot work universally.

Apple have provided APIs at the OS level and CSS media query support in the browser to make it as easy as possible for app developers and website authors to support it. If you're not happy with a particular app or website it's them you need to complain to.

Yep and Android Q proved that it’s really challenging to do a system wide dark mode. There’s a force dark mode feature that is pretty awesome but it completely breaks Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and you have a lot of black on black in areas. Yes it’s frustrating that Apple can’t do this but I think it’s probably too tall of an order for either OS.

Y’all still arguing about dark mode and who should do what and own what..and it doesn’t related to beta 4 testing. Create a new thread...these arguments make no sense here, Apple is the deciding factor. Go convince them via the feedback of your stance. Not here.
I totally agree.

No disrespect to anyone on either side of the dark mode debate, reading all your comments has been informative for me. But maybe move it to its own thread.

Question. I have an 2018 Audi Q3(no CarPlay unfortunately) and when I start the car and have Bluetooth on, it takes at least 30-45 seconds to connect. Last year I had a Toyota Prius as a rental and it connected IMMEDIATELY. As soon as I turned the car on it connected in a second. Does anyone know why it does this with my Audi? Considering it’s a new vehicle I don’t know why it takes long to connect
If anyone can assist with this. Thanks!

My Mail app seems to be doing alright, overall, but I’ve got one specific question:

Is anyone receiving banner and lock screen notifications for *Exchange account* emails that are supposed to be filtered straight to the Trash or Deleted folder?

Again, I’m only asking if people using an Exchange account are receiving notifications for emails that are *not* supposed to go to their Inbox.

Thanks.

I have a problem since beta 1. Every time i open a camera related app, i can hear my lens making clicking sound. Can anybody confimr this or having the same issue? Idk if its beta or it a hardware related

If anyone can assist with this. Thanks!
I would say something is wrong with Audi Software, so I don't think that anyone here can help you, or just maybe you hope that one of the Audi engineers is a member of this forum :)

I am really liking this beta 4. I really don’t have any complaints about it everything on my xs max Seems to be working great. I just have one thing that annoys me. The keyboard turning white. It seems to stay dark with dark mode enabled in System apps that are dark. But when you are on a website with a white background the keyboard turns white again. In my opinion it should still stay dark if I have dark mode selected regardless on what background the site has selected is. If I wanted the keyboard to be white I would have selected white mode in my phone settings. I have sent feedback to Apple with my opinion. But other than that I think this beta shows that Apple is getting closer to a release candidate.
