I wish they would add (they won’t) haptic feedback on key presses. I tried a third party app a while ago but it wasn’t all that good.

Oh I did not know that. I have very little keyboard knowledge.

Kocienda did create a great keyboard. 10 years ago. Things have evolved since then and Apple is seriously lagging behind because as I said, why can’t the keyboard support both swiping and tapping? It doesn’t matter much to me though, Apple never has to add swipe functionality really since they started allowing third party keyboards that do it instead.
Apple's approach to design is not to rush to use technology or functionality unless it provides the best possible (in their opinion) user experience. Obviously, they have concluded to this point that they could not deliver the user experience that they wanted to with their own keyboard. They relented and allowed third party keyboards for those who wanted swipe-style keyboards. Now, it sounds as if they may have concluded that they can deliver the experience they want.

As a personal anecdote, I have used Gboard, Swype and others and have always returned to tapping. I can't precisely explain why I didn't stick with the swipers, but I didn't, so obviously I am among those who have tried them (on iOS, I should say; the Android experience is different) and found them wanting. We'll see what Apple comes up with and see if I like that any better.

But it does sound like they may be significantly expanding the "haptic/taptic" universe with iOS 13.

Apple has never given a choice - and it only made them one of the most valuable companies in the world so I wouldn't expect that to change

I’m constantly having to switch my keyboards depending if I feel like swiping or not. Having it natively will be a much better experience.

I haven't used an iPhone in awhile. I thought the stock keyboard did haptic vibration ? Isn't the iPhone known for having really good haptic vibration throughout the phone ?

We desperately need a new CarPlay interface. CarPlay has finally reached the masses in most cars and it's seriously lacking in the usability department. PLEASE UPDATE IN IOS 13!

I have heard that CarPlay will be getting an overhaul in 13. No particulars though.

I’d like them to let you see the same kind of apps car makers let you see in their systems;: things like weather radar or other glanceable, non-distracting stuff. Also would like integration with vehicle systems, like HVAC. I know this exists for some but would like it more widespread (may be an OEM vs Apple problem). Phone app could be better too.

I would love for Apple to allow weather apps in the CarPlay environment... can you imagine Carrot Weather on your car radio?

My wife drives a 2019 Ford Edge and the Sync interface allows for three sections on the display... I'd love to have an option for the CarPlay display to allow for multiple items on the display:

With a redesign of the iPhone/iPad interface, it might actually look good in CarPlay, too!

I would think there would be real concern about apps that could cause distractions. Since Apple gets sued every day for every reason allowing a distracting app would get several million lawyers excited. I know that maps maybe but there is also the voice instructions. Liability, today, is more important than functions that people might want.

Sadly, in the litigious society in which we live, the knuckleheads who insist on being knuckleheads ruin it for the overwhelming percentage of responsible consumers who simply want convenience. Because it's impossible to legislate against stupidity, the features and options that could be made availlable end up being limited and/or crippled.

For anyone bummed about the recent leaks not having feature XYZ (e.g. redesign on iPhone): the leaks are never 100%.
I can‘t recall a single leak pointing at stacked notifications in iOS12 and that ended up to be my most sought after feature in that release.

Don‘t give up hope, no matter how long that list gets it‘s never the full picture.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about there.

One dumb one I’d like: on CarPlay Maps, show the temp just like the on iPhone version does. CarPlay usually preempts the car’s thermometer reading. It’d be nice to hap it on the map.
