Right. I just wonder if Apple is willing to deal with the additional caseload for these types of incidents. I’m not sure what that number would be though.

Serious question here, what happens if Apple removes the lightning or USB-C port and we’re running beta software? I guess we’d all have to send our devices to Apple to revert back or undo a bad update.

Apple Watch and Apple TV 4K are already in the port-less boat.

they would have to implement an untouchable recovery partition that you could boot into similar to MacOS. A basic boot loader to gain wifi access and download a new image.

I suspect that this issue is why we haven’t seen portless devices yet. But I also suspect that they will come up with a solution. There’s no way they’re shipping a device that needs to be sent anywhere to be restored...beta or mainline OS.

Usually a public release that doesn't show up for beta users indicates there's a new incoming beta. Seems odd considering that WWDC isn't happening for another 3 weeks, but I guess this is an unusual year.

Got it. I had deleted my Beta profile to get the Public 13.5.1 release. Hadn’t put it back yet.
