Remember, the event is still 2 weeks out. Time for a beta (or 2) this week and one (or 2) next week, all many days before the event. Then I think the phones start shipping so that should do it.

See the 2016 New York Times article l link to below on the logistics of moving the phones from factory floor to store. Under normal selling conditions, it takes about 3 days. Add a few days during launch and you’re talking 5, maybe 6, days. Add a day or 2 to flash the final software onto the phones, and you can see that they probably can make changes right up to the event itself, if needed.

But, as has been pointed out, Apple is not dependent upon public feedback for its software and probably already has a GM candidate. The public feedback will likely only be needed to identify showstoppers and work up a list of issues for 13.0.1 and 13.1 to address.

I wouldn't be surprised for a beta today or tomorrow and then another Friday. Followed by the GM on the event day. But again, completely a guess.....

Hmmm...I was able to read it straight from Google and I don’t have a subscription. Let me see if I can save it as a PDF and link to it.
I don’t think that’s allowed here. But yeah I could read it too. You’re given 5 free articles per month

I just told you that’s not allowed here. You should take that down.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/reposting-articles-fair-use.1992096/

Ah, I thought you meant it wouldn’t WORK here, not that it wasn’t allowed. I’ll remove.

If you would be good enough to to delete my post from your quote, that would be helpful, too.

EDIT: I will say, though, reading the thread you quoted from, this is not quite as clear cut as you can never do this. As one of the mods posted right after, as long as its linked and attributed, it may be ok. But I’ll keep it down to avoid issues.

well reading the rules it seems to allow posting a link, which is what you did with Dropbox link and no different than the thousands of other links posted.

Agree (and had just added that to my response post). But I don’t want have this even remotely be an issue as it was helpful, but not central to my initial post. Bottom line: iPhones get from there to here very fast!

Releasing two BETA's per week doesn't really do anything. It only results in it being barely any builds between the releases, it's not like having a total of 9 BETA's is any worse or gives us any lesser of a GM build compared to if we had a total of 12 BETA's. We started on 17A5492t and we are currently on 17A5572a, that's 80 builds higher. In theory if Apple gave us a new BETA for every build the commit we could be at BETA 80 at this point.

Compared to iOS 12.0 we had 16A5288q for the first BETA and the last beta before GM was 16A5366a, that's a total of 78 builds. So it's not like they are moving any slower with iOS 13.0 but it just feels like the amount of bugs this time around is more substantial. I can't say it has felt this rough this close to GM since iOS 7.0.

I think the point of releasing similar, but different builds, is for Apple to essentially A/B test different solutions to a problem to see which one works best. It's not necessarily that they are fixing additional bugs, they're just testing which fix works best at scale.

I’m confused at the people that say this feels rough... this feels pretty smooth to me... I think a lot of bugs from apps etc will be fixed when developers can release updates to those apps when iOS 13 drops.

Well everyone’s experience varies, and it depends on what device they’re on and the battery health. But I’m with you on the smoothness, it’s gotten so much better since beta 1 in what feels like hardly any time. And the Mail app fixes in this beta really help iron out the whole experience.

It’s not apps that are the problem, I’m actually not having any issues with any of my 3rd party apps, it’s built in stuff like the Files app they still need work.

Just hoping for a tvOS beta update and Catalina update today. Beta 8 on the iPhone and watch are smooth.

I don’t know about others, but Mail is still a mess.

- Push delay
- Not marked as read after marking as read
- Incorrect badge count
- Badges not going away
etc.

I’ve also noticed that Gmail app is acting up too once in a while, having issues with persistent badges.

I wonder if iOS 13 somehow affected the badge notification system in general.
